My mother spoke to me in English for the first time in forever
That alone is something that almost never happens, so I was very curious
She said the words "I want to show you something"
Albeit, very accented, but she tried.
Then she pulled out her phone and showed me a trailer for a movie
It was the movie "Crazy Rich Asians"
She then said that we should watch it
I had no problem watching the movie, but since my sister is the one who normally suggests watching movies, I couldn't help but ask why
She said it was because it was, and I quote, "Hashtag relatable"
I tried my hardest to keep my straightest face and asked her what was relatable about it
She said that 2/3 of the title described our family
I countered by saying we were not rich, and the craziest thing she had ever done is say the phrase hashtag relatable
Then there was some awkward silence
To break the silence, I said I'd go watch the movie and that ended that discussion

It was just a very strange conversation..but I wanted to know if anyone else thought it was strange, too.

Lol lol lol lol. This made me laugh so hard. I love moms.

Despite the fact that I should have logged by now tonight, I have not yet, so...I read this.

This reminds me of when i was a teenager, and my mom and I were in an argument and she was trying to convince me to stay home instead of go out, or something, and she finally said something like,

"Well you have to be back by 10 o'clock."

And I said,

"No, duh!"

She looked at me, confused, and hands on her hips, she retorted back,

"Yes, duh!"

Lolol

And I didn't even try to keep a straight face, I broke out laughing, and that ended the argument.

Once I started laughing, she still looked confused.

"I was agreeing with you," I explained. "No, duh means 'I know'"

"Oh," she said, realizing we had reached a compromise. It was so funny.

Then there's the time my mom said the "s" word to a class of students because she didn't know it was a bad word. She had been trying to explain what the word "feces" meant to a biology class. So she said,

"It means #&*$!" And they all freaked out, of course lol. She came home and I told her "no, no you can't say that. That's a cuss word," And she said, "Cuss word?! I thought it was just slang!" And I was like, "No......"
