Kayleigh giggled, but suddenly stopped. her mouth snapped shut and she looked at the ground. The sudden realization had hit her - she had remembered how she ended up here. The death of that man and the sudden transfer from having nothing to... having everything, let alone all the magic training that came with it. She had been uncertain to follow Jerian here, she still sort of was uncertain of things - but she did realize that these people had welcomed her among them and for that she was grateful.
Another realization snapped to her mind. Samm!
"Eeh, Kate?" she hesitantly asked. "Before Jerian took me here, I had a friend named Samm back at the carpenter's. He may feel a bit... abandoned... since I wasn't able to leave him a message. Is there any way for me to contact him?"
(I was thinking of incorporating a little storyline here where Samm gets in trouble and maybe dies at the hand of some supernatural being, you can make that part up, I'm not so good at it ^^" . Sort of as a motivation for kayleigh in the sense of "I will never let this happen again". What do you think?)

(Classic, nothing better to motivate someone than the senseless murder of one of their friends by the Forces of EvilTM. I'll have to think up how/who killed him, but it shouldn't be too hard.)
Kate frowned a bit at the mention of her friend, "Hm... well I suppose you can, but we'll need a cover story. You can't exactly tell him you've joined up with us. It's not like he'd believe you anyway, but we keep up the Masquerade for a good reason. Tech and I are on patrol in a little bit, you can come along with us and we'll drop you off at the carpenter's to meet your friend. Which reminds me, we're going to need to teach you to drive of you don't know already. Having a car or a motorbike really helps in this line of work. Certainly a bit more convenient than the jet."
She started walking to the door, "But food first, then we go find your friend... oh and whilst you're out and about remember to keep an eye for anything...uh... supernatural. We'll give you an earpiece, if you run into any trouble just shout and we'll come help out. We'll have to give you a grand tour of the local supernatural hotspots at some point."

Kayleigh smiled nervously. "I sort of know how to drive buuuut I never went to actually take a test to get a license... and it's been quite a while." Sometimes she had to do deliveries for mister Yugo's carpenter store with Samm, and he showed her the ropes (more or less). "ehm.. I've only been gone for a few days now but I can't come up with a decent cover.. maybe that I found my family?" she smiled. "It's not even 100% a lie." The way cell theta had welcomed her did feel a bit like coming home to a family to her.
Kate smiled, "Well we'll have to get you a license, then. It's much harder to do your duties as a member of The Society if you have to take the bus or the train everywhere," she grinned and gave Kayleigh a quick hug, "Heh, I'm glad we made you feel so welcome, the world we're in can be a pretty scary, lonely place some times. It's much easier when you've got family at your back."
She grinned, "Though we might be a tad dysfunctional. A mad genius, a ghost, a caffeine-addicted Irishgirl, an irreverent prankster and the Only Sane Woman. I'm sure you'll fit right in. Anyway, we'll help you come up with a cover story... want one of us to come with you? We could be long-lost cousins or something..."

Kayleigh thought about that one. No need to be worried right? "No, I don't think I'll need it. But an earpiece may be nice, just in case." She thought for a second. "Well, maybe.. just not anywhere too close, I wouldn't want him to freak out of a sudden stranger - especially if it were seth" she added jokingly. "He might be a bit freaked out about that."
Kate laughed, "Seth freaks me out sometimes too, even now. We'll send Jerian with you, or I'll go if you prefer. We'll set you up with an earpiece before you leave... though I really do think you should get a license. It will make things much easier, you won't have to hitch a ride with one of us if you want to go somewhere, after all. Or take a bus. They can be kinda temperamental around here. Always seem to come in flocks of two or three..."
She frowned, "You know one of these days we really need to check to see if the bus companies are fronts for demons trying to make humans miserable. It would surprise me. You wouldn't believe how many of them are bankers. Not many lawyers though, funnily enough. A fair few angels turn up there though. That's one for the philosophers to ponder."

Kayleigh nodded. That sounded pretty good to her. "i don't really mind whoever comes along.. whoever feels like going is good for me."
She nodded nervously to the notion of having to learn how to drive again. "I'll try my best!" she said, wanting to seem convinced of it herself but not succeeding to get it across in her voice.
(sorry for the late reply, been stuck with a cold and a headache ^^" )
(edit: I just had an idea, wouldn't it be even more interesting if my character Viktoriya be the cause of Samm's death?)

(That does seem like a good idea! Might be able to work it into a plot-line, hunting down the demon-lord within her.)
Kate shook her head at the girl's nerves and smiled, "Don't look so worried, you'll be fine... now come on, dinner!" The blonde woman led the girl out of their practice room, along the corridor and down the stairs to go find the kitchens on the lower floor. In the kitchen, Jerian was whistling a wordless tune as he cooked for them all, with Seth's rather ineffectual assistance. Dawn was already sat at the table, sipping from a cup of coffee and reading what seemed to be a sheaf of reports and documents. Kate sat down besides the Cell Commander and looked curious, "More paperwork, Ops?"
Dawn sighed and put the file she'd been reading down, "Supernatural activity's been on the increase lately... the demons are getting restless, even the ones here legally... and there've been unconfirmed reports of Angelic activity. Probably just a Malak sent to keep an eye on things, two Malakim at worst. Still, that's more over activity from the Higher Planes in this area since the Calais Incident."

The girl was slightly amused about Seth floating around to help Jerian, who didn't mind but couldn't really use the help either. It was a lightly comical thing to see - though she was certain that they were used to it already.
Kayleigh's interest was drawn to the paperwork. Calais incident? Malakim? she had no clue what those were, and she wasn't quite sure if she should ask either. she sat herself down next to Kate and looked across to Dawn. "What are Malakim? she asked, for now not asking about the Calais incident.
(I don't see why not, but apart from the Samm storyline. maybe after the killing she disappears and re-appears in a later arc, cause I'm not sure if Kayleigh is skilled enough for it ^^ however we might be able to incorporate another haunted character of mine called Joanne Willow and maybe a brief show of her brother Jayce. you can shortly read through her profile, he's kinda just looking for her and has no condition what his sister is in, she has no clue he even exists at this point in time)

Dawn pulled a sheaf of paper from the stack near her and tapped it, "A type of Angel... or at least what we've taken to calling Angels at any rate. Denizens of the Higher Planes or the Celestial Realms or whatever you want to call 'em. Malakhim, or just Malak for one, is your bog-standard winged humanoid. Weakest and most plentiful type of Angel there is, tend to serve as messengers and footsoldiers in the Angelic ranks, about the same level of intelligence as our average human but with greater speed and endurance and a resistance to most Earth diseases. In all there's nine types of Angel arrayed into three groups called Spheres. As far as we can figure, the Higher Planes run on a quasi-caste system. As far as we can tell they're arrayed roughly the same as the Angelic Hierarchies you find in Thomas Aquinas' Summa Theologica or De Coelesti Hierarchia by Psuedo-Dionysus."
Kate just shook her head and grinned, "Or if you can't be bothered with those dusty old medieval tomes you can just say that there's three Spheres of Angels, with three Choirs or castes in each Sphere. Third Sphere Angels are the regular Angels or Malakhim, the arch-angels or Rav-Malakhim and the Principalities. After them are the Second Sphere; Powers, who are Warrior-Angels, Virtues and Dominions which are also known as Hashmallim, Angelic Lords. Finally there's the First Sphere; Thrones or Wheels, also called Ophanim, the Cherubim and finally the Seraphim, the Burning Ones, Highest amongst the Angelic Choirs."
Dawn chuckled, "Luckily you only really need to be aware of the Third Sphere Angels, the others don't really interact much with us down here. A skilled human can go toe-to-toe with Malakhim or Rav-Malakhim and generally fighting a Principality is difficult but not impossible. Second Sphere Angels are much rarer and much more dangerous so in the unlikely event you see one of 'em you're best just running for your life. It can be hard to tell some of them apart from weaker Angels, but the ones you really need to look out for is a Hashmallim, since the main thing that distinguishes them from just a normal Malak is that they have spheres of light on the pommels of their sword or on sceptres. Luckily the First Sphere Angels can't come down here without some serious effort because of The Veil between our worlds, plus they're all really weird-looking so it's not hard to differentiate between them and the weaker ones."
Kate got up and went over to go help Jerian with Seth, who had apparently gotten bored of not being able to help and was instead pelting the Paladin with various things from around the kitchen, "Just don't get an arch-angel and an Archangel mixed up, it's why we call 'em Rav-Malakhim and not arch-angels most of the time."
Dawn giggled, "Yeah, there's only seven capital-A Archangels around, collectively they're known as Chayot-Ha-Kodesh, like the rulers in the Celestial Planes. Michael, Gabriel, Raphael... those kind of guys. Don't think they've ever come down here.. not in the last thousand years or so at least. Of course a lot of the Angels serve them in one way or another so I guess they still have influence down here."

Kayleigh nodded her understanding. She tried to draw a mental picture in her head about it while Dawn and Kate explained it, mentally saving it. "I think I got it." she replied. She leaned back in her chair. So much information, she sighed. she didn't expect that when she asked the question. she smiled. It felt good though. She realized where she was and where she came from. This was definitely better.
Dawn chuckled, "Sorry about the info-dump, but it's important stuff to know. You don't want to go after a Malak and attack a Hashmal by accident. Not only would you probably die but the Higher Planes could use it as a pretext to render the Golgotha Accords null and void. We really wouldn't want that to happen, we had enough trouble the last time with The Nazarene and the Great Angelic Incursion of thirty-three."
Kate shook her head, "Now don't go confusing the poor girl with more of this. Um..." she glanced at Kayleigh, "Actually, come to think of it... are you religious? Christian, Muslim, Buddhist... anything? It's just there's a few things in the historical records that The Society has...ah... influenced over the years. Like that incident in Roman Judea in the First Century which might have something to do with a certain popular religion nowadays. Heh, caused a hell of a stink in the old Jerusalem Chapter if our records are any indication. Near gave the Chapter Commander a heart attack it did."
Jerian came over with their food, setting plates down in front of everyone, "Heh, I'd be upset too if the Thirteenth Demonic Legion and the Host of Michael started a punch-up in my Cell's territory. It was practically the apocalypse. Most of our agents in Judea at the time resigned."
