Kayleigh grinned broadly as she processed what Kate had just almost screamed into her ear. Upon hearing about the bow, her interest was peaked. She didn't want to rely on magic completely, yet didn't feel much for close combat either. "C-can I learn?" she asked.
Kate Anderson (played by Terel)

Kate smiled and nodded, "Sure, I'd love to teach you. We'll go to the shooting range with Tech's new bow later and I'll give you a few lessons on archery."

The eccentric scientist grinned, "Excellent. I'll hurry up on the tuning then, I don't want anything going wrong with it. You can test my sun-bomb design whilst you're at it." A panel on the wall started beeping insistently, and Tech made an annoyed noise, he carefully made his way past the mess in his lab and touched a button on the panel, "Tech's lab, the resident genius speaking."

"Tech, your report on your latest project is overdue. Admin is breathing down my neck for it, and I can't keep fobbing off the Node Cell Commander. Can you please send me smething? Anything ill do, just to get the off my back." Dawn sad, obviously the panel was for The Hub's internal communication system.

"Yes, yes, I'll get right on it. But I really do need to run a few moe tests." Tech said.

"Look, I'm all for testing stuff so it doesn't blow up in our faces, but at least tell them that, I've already got my hands full with the paperwork for our newest recruit, and I'm running out of coffee!"

"You could get Jerian to do it." The scientist offered.

"Are you kidding? He runs a mile when the word 'work' comes up." Dawn replied with irritation, "Just send me that report."

"I'll get right on it, Commander." Tech said with a sigh.

"Good, I want it sent to me by the end of the day." And then she was gone.

Tech made a face, "Paperwork." He spat the word like some kind of foul curse, but Kate just giggled at him.

((Kate got deleted? I'm sorry it took me so long, I've had a hard time keeping up with school assignments. Is this still going then, or..?))
Cell Theta (played by Terel)

(Yeah, it is still going on, but I needed to free up some character slots so I've been merging all of my hunter characters under one name, this one.)

(Sorry once more, I missed the notification and totally forgot X_X Your post about that group reminded me. How would you like to continue? I think maybe we need a timeskip to get started again? I've been off-topic so long I don't exactly know how to continue without just saying "she follows her" :) )
Cell Theta (played by Terel)

{We could skip a few days, so that her training's started and she knows her way around a little... hm, what we really need is something to kick start a little excitement plot-wise to revitalise the RP... maybe one of them takes Kayleigh out on a mission with them to sho her the ropes or something, or something else?)

(that sounds good :D any ideas?)

(Give me a little time to think of something, I'm a little ill at the moment, and I have a few exams coming up, but the last one is in two weeks from today, so if we could postpone continuation until then?)

(alright, take your time)
Cell Theta (played by Terel)

(Right, my exams are over and I've recovered from a second sickness, so if you still want to continue this RP?)

It was mid-morning, almost two weeks after Kayleigh joined The Society. With Kate overseeing her training, primarily in the control of her magic and then the basics of its use and also in the rudiments of archery, and Jerian in charge of teaching her close-quarters self-defence and helping her get used to the manor house in which they all lived, The Hub.

Kate had just left Dawn's office on the third floor and was making her way down the main staircase to the entrance hall, she was dressed in what she liked to call her 'work clothes' - a kevlar chest-guard under clothing of toughened leather, with three small silver interlocked circles over her heart - The Society's symbol. She had her best bow with her, folded down small and strapped to her back alongside her quiver, and several knives tucked away in various places, and a small black pod as fitted over one ear; her comms device. Her blond her was tied in a short ponytail, to keep her hair from her eyes.

Soon she found herself in the entrance hall, but instead of going outside she went towards one of the living rooms, one of the rooms most used by the house's residents as an impromtu-meeting place and games room. She was probably looking for someone.

(sure! did you get my mail regarding Kayleigh's future?)

Kayleigh was just dozing off in one of the sofa's of the living room. She'd finished experimenting with controlling her magic - and though she figured something out - She got exhausted trying to control it. She didn't hear Kate walk in and just lay sideways on the couch.
Cell Theta (played by Terel)

Kate stopped in front of the couch, her hands on her hips and an amused look on her face, "Couldn't make it up the stairs, huh? Well, I hope you're not too tired. I'm going out on a mission today, and Dawn's given permission for you to tag along. Go upstairs, get dressed and we'll head off. I think it's time you met a few of the beings you'll be dealing with when you become a Knight." She took one of her knives from her boot and held it out, "Take this and your practice bow. I don't except any trouble, but you don't get far in The Society without taking precautions."

Kayleigh sat up and rubbed her eyes as she listened to Kate. She suddenly remembered what she wanted to say. "Hey Kate? Is it possible that larger amounts of magic potential are harder to control?" she asked before going upstairs.
Cell Theta (played by Terel)

Kate nodded, "Sure it is; the more energy you're able to draw, the harder it is to contain and control, magical potential is just how much energy you're naturally able to draw upon. Try asking Dawn about her time serving under Knight Commander Paul Anderson. He was very powerful, but he'd always struggled with fine control of hi magic, there were some who suspected he might have the potential to be an Aetherian, but as far as I know he never took the tests to find out." She frowned slightly, "A pity, Aetherians are so rare these days..." The archer shrugged and shook her head, "Why do you ask? Having problems?"

Kayleigh nodded. "Whenever I try picturing my magic in order to use it, I think of water, like you taught me. However I always - over and over again - bump into a huge amount of energy and immediately see an ocean in my head instead of for example a river... And it's not getting easier to control it." she explainend.
Cell Theta (played by Terel)

Kate frowned thoughtfully, tapping her chin, "An ocean, huh? I suppose it could be that you have a great deal of untapped energy, or maybe its psychological; tapping magic is difficult, and worrying or stressing over it is making it harder... hmm... after e get back from this mission, I'll look up a few things in the Mainframe. I think I'll have to test to see just how much energy you have." Kate smiled slightly, "Who knows, you might turn out to be pretty strong, and if you do have a powerful magical affinity I think you'll find it'll be a big help; Central Command is always on the look-out for unusual individuals, and powerful magic will certainly be of use if you get into a fight."

"Oh, I almost forgot; wear something waterproof, we'll be going down near the coast, and the... ah, entities we'll be looking for are mostly aquatic in nature, so you might get a little wet." She said.

Kayleigh nodded. "Alright." she dashed off to her room, thinking of what kind of tests would be performed to test her magic abilities. Eventually she started thinking of other things, like which clothes would be the best for this mission. It was her first mission, and she wasn't sure if she should be excited, but she was definitely curious. The past two weeks have been hectic for her, but she's grown a little bit more confident in herself. Maybe confident wasn't the right word though... she finally got her stuff together and went downstairs. She took her bow as well, and stored it in another bag together with the knife Kate gave her. She went downstairs and rejoined her. "Ready." she smiled, and by now had to control her enthusiasm slightly.
Cell Theta (played by Terel)

Kate smiled and nodded, "Great. We'll be taking the car down to the coast, we need to be there at around nightfall." She led Kayleigh out of the house, got into the car and stated it up, "Since this is your first mission, we'll start you off with something a little gentle. No vampire slaying or werewolf hunting or demon dodging tonight." Kate smirked, "But we'll get to that soon enough, don't worry."

They drove for a few hours, until they reached a pebble beach on the south coast, only a few miles from London. The waves crashed nosily onto the rocks, but the only creatures around were a few sea-birds and some seals laying near the water. Kate scanned the area for a moment and nodded to herself, "Okay then, coast's clear." She eyed the horizon, were the sun was sitting low in the sky, "Still got a while yet 'til nightfall."

Kayleigh nodded and set herself down on a rock, unpacking and putting together her bow. she laid it down at her side casually and strapped the knife to a belt around her waist. She then leant back against another rock and watched the seals slowly make their way in between the rocks.

Kate was sat near Kayleigh, "The sun's almost down." She noted, nodding towards the horizon, where the sky was turning orange and purple as the sun set below the sea, "Lets go down to the water, so we'll be ready. Leave your bow at your back, don't draw it or any arrows, but keep my knife hidden... don't go for it or draw attention to it unless I say so, and whatever you do... let me do the talking." She paused and then added, "Oh, and don't try following them deeper in the water."

Kate stood up and walked down to the water's edge with a few quick, fluid strides. As she reached the water, the sun finally sank below the horizon, and the stars began to come out. When Kayleigh joined her she put a finger to her lips, "Stay near me, and stay quiet." One of the seals that had been swimming in the water came up to the shore and made its way up to them, it honked at them and Kate made a surprisingly elegant bow, "Greetings, Séala Tiarna."

The large bull seal honked at her again and raised himself up, and then the oddest thing happened; his skin began to tighten and shift, turning into what looked like a coat of seal-skin, which the creature shrugged off, revealing what looked to be an incredibly handsome human man, with an athletic swimmers' body, blond hair and the same brilliant blue eyes the seal had had, he bowed his head in greeting, "Hello, Watcher. I suppose that it is that time again already?" He flashed her a dazzling smile, "A pity we always meet in formal circumstances."

Kate smiled slightly, "Your tricks won't work on me, I know the lore surrounding your kind."

He turned his eyes on Kayleigh, "And does she? Your lovely young companion? I haven't seen her before, is she new?"

"She's Cell Theta's newest recruit. You shall stay away from her if you know what's good for you." Kate said warningly, "We aren't here for you to test out your latest seductive techniques. We're here on official Society business. We've been hearing rumours that one of your kind has been trying to lure off a few of the young women around here. You know that you're forbidden from this."

"Oh, that." The creature said dismissively, "It's probably young Uisce Airgid. He's probably trying to find that silly female of his. She wandered from the group a while back and never returned. We think one of you Humans found her sealskin and trapped her." The creature sighed, "Still, she'll return to us eventually. You humans always slip up eventually."
