... compared to your characters?
Do you purposely make characters taller, shorter or equally as tall as you are? Or are there any other reasons for your characters' height? Do you tend to stick to a certain range of heights?
I'm curious because I tend to favor creating characters who are tall, since I'm really tall in real life myself. It can be challenging to play a character significantly shorter than myself because I keep forgetting they may not reach high places (as easily) as I do.
Is height something you factor into your roleplays' surroundings? i.e. bumping heads against doorframes, needing a stool to reach the top cabinet shelf and stuff like that? Does it have a significant impact on the way you roleplay?

I based my characters height on the norm of the people surrounding her.
I wanted her to be tall, but still rp-able.
She has unproportional long legs, unfortunate when trying to sit comfortably on small pillows.

I have my characters based on sort of my height. But if my character is a kid, like 5 to 10 or something like that then of course I'll make them smaller then my height. >_< Hehe
Kikuto is my height (5'3") and Bess is a little shorter than me (5'0")
Most of my characters are male and are taller than me, though most if not all of them are five foot something. I think Dandy might be six foot even or six something, but I don't recall right now how tall he is.
And Isabel Draca(the character) is an odd one. Being thirty feet long and two feet wide as a snake and two foot five I think as a lizard. She used to be my hight but I don't always play her that size and for her it was a factor in my wanting her to be smaller than a certain person or whatever in certain RPs.
I'm short IRL compared to most people I know and that seems to effect /my/ ability to play tall characters.
Hight doesn't usually factor that much into my RPs.

That generally depends on the setting they are in, or what role they play in RP's. For example, I'm prone to give a shy sort of character a shorter height than I am (most probably somewhere around 1.60's) whereas a heroic character will be taller, from 1.79 to 1.85 or even a bit more. Anything in between is usually around my height (1.70's and taller)
My characters vary in height quite a bit, though I suppose my woman tend to be on the shorter side of things, being that I am very short myself, I suppose it's because it's because it's easier to imagine their actions.
For the most part, I never really gave heights that much of a thought. Mine tend to be around average (5'05"-5'11"?), and only a couple are actually above 6'00"--characters recycled and recreated for various settings don't count towards either of those numbers, in my book, since I tend to keep their heights consistent.
Those 6-footers tend to factor into their builds--Johann especially, since he was designed to be a large, buff fella. Looking back on my list of characters on here, Quickfoot's the shortest, and that's just because I've always thought the Egg Thieves were really short dudes as a whole.
As for myself? I'm 5'1.5"
Perhaps most of my characters are taller than that because I wish I was taller? Who knows!

I'm 5'8" or so. Most of my characters are under six feet, though there is some varition with them. I tend to play close to my height, thought quite often I find myself not bothering with details like height and weight. It's lazy, I know.
My range in heights goes from 4'9 to 7'1.... Mine vary a lot lol. But I find I hav more than a few who are 5'10. I myself am 5'7 which I think is about average female height in the US.
I'd say my characters range from about my height to taller, though I'm spread across the board as far as character heights go.
My tallest character is a centaur--obviously. But I do have a couple of really tall character that range about 6' to 7' tall. And I have fun with their heights. On the other end of the scale, I have a 6-year-old character (Hunter) and a dwarf, so I should make height more of a thing with them. Oh the ideas!
Overall, I suppose I tend to keep my characters around my height since I'm obviously more at their level...or something.

I'm 5'3'' irl and I like to make my charecters usually around the 5'5'' mark upwards. I only have one charecter who's shorter then me, Karagan, at 5'2''.
I don't know why... Maybe because everyone normally has their charecters at like, 7 foot LOL.

I am 6ft. I try to give my characters a variety of heights, but my faves will always be either 6ft or close so I can play them best.
I have had very short roomies in the past, so I have a good idea as to those other shorter characters and how they should be portrayed... so yeah.
I think my shortest character is 5'4" and my tallest is 7'6"... I think- But she is part dragon so it kinda makes sense.

Varies wildly based on the character's race and genetic background. Often, an established setting will dictate the height range for the species within it.
But if they are plain ol' human, I often base them off a particular nation in the real world, and then try to look up any records we may have had for height of historical figures in the time/region they are based off of. Then I pick something that would make them either fit in, or mirror their inspirational figure.
And then sometimes I just pick something that seems to fit them, personality and personal history wise.

I had to think about this. And I suddenly feel like height should have some bigger play in my characters, but I can't honestly say that it does.
A lot of my characters are tall. I do this because I personally hate how short I am and through them I can experience another way of living, or at least another view point. Usually they are around 6 foot tall. Though I can't say that this is always true either. Most of my women are slight and shorter, making them more vulnerable to the male's I create. Crycket, for instance, even though she isn't posted on this site, is 5'2". She acts like a child and loves being carried. Her partner in crime is Crisis, a man that is 8 foot tall. Size difference between genders like that... Well. They make me happy. Mind you, Crisis is an extreme case. He and Zeller are my tallest characters in humanoid form. Zac is my shortest character. Another childlike figure who is only 4'11". Which points out something else. Characters more prone to be in sexual relations for me are taller, while those that are shorter tend to be more childlike in personality no matter their age.
...I forgot where I was going with this. Ending stats! Most of my men are tall. A lot of my women are very short. I have extreme cases where this isn't always true, so my final answer is that I have varied heights that stay within a certain range for the most part.

That's an interesting question to ask. I never really payed all that much attention to my character's heights, except if I was working with specific races. I came to the consideration most of my characters are about as tall as I am! Golly!
I'm about 6'0 or something like that. 1 meter 80 to be exact. I like to play taller characters, though. Around my friends I'm usually the tallest of the bunch, much to their displeasure. I have very little characters who are smaller than I am.
I suppose I just like to relate to my characters' heights. It comes natural to me to size them around my own length after all.

I don't really know how tall I am. I've heard 5'3"-5'4" so it's between that. My characters are usually around that height, give or take an inch or two. It seems to be an average height (I hope) so I sort of give my chars average traits like that.
I always felt uncomfortable playing extremely tall characters, although extremely small ones are fun. Easy to squeeze in places and hide. X).

I never really thought about this. I do tend to make my characters on the short side it seems. Expecially my females as I connect with them more. I tend to use height in my RPs if it fits or can add to the mood.
Though my Male characters are differnt I try to look up the average height for the age groups that I set them as so they don't stick out too much, unless of course they are ment to
So I've ended up with my characters ranging from 4'4" to 7'10" with all sorts in between~

I am creating a Cheetah Anthro..she's 6'3. O_O
My characters are usually taller than I am. But some are shorter then me .
I'm 5'1", which I consider short but I'm still growing (Ill be about 5'7" when I'm grown up!) but I like to make characters tall since I think tall people stand out more...

I'm 5'6" or maybe 5'5" now (I used to be 5'8" ) My characters range in height from 25" (a living doll) to just shy of twelve feet. I play all over the board, but I do slightly favour smaller characters. I have no idea why, I just think they're cute. I also rely a lot on racial norms, both real world and fantasy world. A half-giant is going to be tall as all heck, but a woman in the 1300's? She's going to be tiny.
My anthros are generally heighted to match their species. My rabbit-woman is tall, because rabbits get long and thin. My cat-goat is small because it's cute and she's half domestic cat.
I also roll dice a lot. Dawn is stuck at 4'10 at her tallest.
