In the modern day and age, supernatural beings were no more than fuel for film and television. What no one knew was they were hidden in the shadows, out of the prying eye of the human world.
Until the witch queen arrived, and with her a plague no one could escape. The world fell within months. Desolate and dead, the cities were overcome by vines and growth, and the few humans that were left huddled together in shadows of civilization, terrified of the supernatural beasts and things that now prayed upon the world, witches ruling over all.
But then the witch hunters came. The new law of the land, they became a dedicated sect, working with good witches and proudly fighting against witches and paranormal monsters to protect what was left of humans. Over time, while still in somewhat of a dark age feel, villages formed, and humans no longer lived in fear, the witch hunters watching over them.
I have a few plot ideas, or we can work something out together. Your character can be a good witch, a witch switching over, a regular person, a new hunter, or anything else you can think to make the RP interesting.
