Hello.

I can navigate RpR pretty well now, except for Friend Requests. Can anyone answer the following questions? Thank you!

Or just if there's a resource where this info is, just guide me to that. Thanks.

1. When some requests you as a friend, but you don't know them, and prefer not to accept, is there a way to just delete the request without rejecting it?

2. What's the difference between merely accepting someone's friend request versus also friending them back? Is it like that accepting them means they see your activity in their feed but you don't see theirs in yours unless you friend them back?

2. What if you want to unfriend someone who you don't know, who you accidentally accepted?

a) how do you delete someone from your friends' list, and

b) are they notified somehow or does your activity just stop appearing on their feed?

3. What if you want to block someone?

a) what does blocking do? what functions does it affect?

b) are people notified that they've been blocked?

c) what happens if someone who has been blocked messages you? Does some big sign saying "you've been blocked!" come up, or what?
1. When you reject a friend request they don't get a nofitcaiton that you rejected, so it's essentially just deleting it.

2. Just accepting means you're on their friends list and they see your activity on their feed but you won't see theirs and they won't be listed on your friends list.

2. What if you want to unfriend someone who you don't know, who you accidentally accepted?

a) Go to dashboard, click on 'my friends' and click the X. Delete, deletes you from their friends list and yours, and you both stop seeing each other on the activity feed. Just breaking the tie on your side means you won't see their activity on your feed anymore but they will still see yours.

b) They aren't notified. They just stop seeing you on their feed.

3. What if you want to block someone?

a) They can't message you, they can't reply to your forum posts, or join a group you made.

b) They don't get a technical notification no..

c) If a blocked person tries to message you it prevents them from doing so by saying something along the lines of "there's a problem, you may have been blocked."

1+2: Rejecting the request is the same as deleting it. The other person doesn't get notified of this. You can also accept it without friending back, all this does is that they get to see your activity but you won't see any of theirs. It's a one-sided connection that allows them to follow you, essentially, without you being forced to follow them back.

2 a+b (I think you misnumbered these!): Go to Dashboard > Your Friends. The X next to a connection lets you delete it. They won't be told about this, you just won't appear in their friendlist anymore and, depending on if you break it entirely or just your side, either one of you will stop seeing activity feed stuff.

3 a: Blocking disables someone from:
- Messaging you, either your user account or any of your characters
- Sending you or your characters friend requests
- Replying to topics you started
- Inviting you to groups
- Giving you/r characters kudos
- Leave guestbook comments
- Maybe more? I'm not sure. Essentially it just makes sure they can't get in touch with you in any way on the site with the account you blocked.

3b+c: The only time they'll know they've been blocked is when they actively try to get in touch with you. That's when the site tells them "Abigail doesn't want to hear from you, sorry"

Basically, a lot of the friending and blocking actions yield no notifications, unless someone is actively trying to engage you and is forbidden from doing so. It's a mostly silent process!

Edit: I got ninjad! XD
Just chiming in to say, because all the answers are here, that this is what makes the friending aspect of the site so bloody nice. It breeds an acceptance and overall feeling of safety and levels of how much you want a certain person to be close to you and that is wonderful. Most sites it's all or nothing.

Okay, I'm done~ XD <3

Thank you everyone
Personally I think these are great questions to ask, and if the answers are relevant, they should be made more easily available to people. <3
