You check out the character above you and come up with an interesting setting, dynamic etc. for that character to be in.
I think this can be a fun way of getting ideas for your characters that you yourself might not have come up with.
Example:
Character above you is someone who's introverted and does not like interacting with other people much.
You could suggest giving them a mission that absolutely requires them to work on a more pro-active attitude, or pairing them with someone who's relentlessly social.
Last but not least; please do take the effort of going through someone's character sheet. It shows if someone goes for the generic response just so their character gets a turn, and that just defeats the purpose.

Johnny O'Marten finds himself in a dilemma; the tattoo parlor he works at has been sold to the highest bidder, and his new boss demands that he concludes his education, else he's out of a job.
Alex Scott finds himself driving down a quiet highway to get to his next hunt/job/etc. in the middle of the night. His headlights catch on something pink and frilly along the side of the road up ahead, and as he pulls to a stop, he realizes it’s an abandoned little girl, with tears rolling down her cheeks.
