Hello, I have been having this dream for about two weeks, and it has to mean something if it is happening this much: I am in a large pool of shallow water with mist surrounding its sides. The color of this water is lavender, and the mist a darker shade of purple. I am sitting there with a white dress down to my feet, it does not seem affected by the water color. I am alone and then...someone I love who left me came and leaned on my shoulder. Uncomfortable, I gave her hints to get off but she didn't even notice. She started to speak but no sound came out until the end of the dream. Where she said, "see you soon" in a somewhat calming voice.
One day the dream didn't end there, after she left I was swept up into darkness. A white figure came towards me. All I knew was that it was a female. She had no distinguished features. I looked at her and began to cry, running into her arms. She comforted me in silence...
I feel like this is a sign and I'm not getting it, can someone help me

When you say someone you loved that left you do you mean she passed away, or left as in like a relationship that ended?
I just wanna say, I love dreams and I love talking about dreams. My dreams are very symbolic and sometimes mean something. But the symbols are different than the ones on the internet. Often they're personal symbols that have personal meanings, different for different people. It's great to write down your dreams, and you may be able to figure out what the symbols mean for you by connecting different things.
The first thing I think when I think white dress is marriage. But it also seems like it could be about anxiety surrounding death.
The first instinct is, of course, if it's someone that passed away that was leaning on your shoulder and saying "see you soon," it seems like the first instinct would be that you're dreaming about dying, maybe having a fear of dying or a concern. Being swept up in darkness and going to a comforting figure in white does sure sound like what quite a few NDE experiences contain. Water in a dream can often be symbolic. Like, an ocean can represent spirit.
From the internet:
"To see an ocean in your dream represents the state of your emotions and feelings. It is indicative of spiritual refreshment, tranquility and renewal. "
"The ocean is made up of water, which reflects our emotions, our creativity and spiritual source of wisdom."
So...if water is the spiritual world and there's a figure in white you're meeting and someone who passed away is saying "see you soon," it does seem to suggest your dreaming about death but on the other hand, death can be a symbol in dreams for change, not literally death, so maybe you are about to have a significant change in your life, and someone, or your subconscious mind, is trying to get you ready for it.
From google:
"Dreaming of death or dying may symbolize a phase in your life has come to an end and something new is beginning."
Hope this helps!

Was this alleged loved one who held you from behind someone you knew was still alive, or did she pass away (as far as you know)?
Relationship ended
I love dreams too! I agree with Abigail_Austin that the water represents emotion. For me, it also represents something you have to dive deeper into, something to surrender to, though it might not necessarily have the same meaning for you.
Anyway, I'm just going to take a shot in the dark and say that you're still hung up about something in general. Could be your ex, could be something else you need to let go of. You know that you're somewhere you don't need to be. The water not staining your dress could mean that it's something that should have no hold on you. You should be able to shake it off and come away unstained. But still, you can't seem to move away.
"See you soon." It just sounds to me like the dream is just indicating that it will happen again. That you will repeat it over and over. So it's a good thing that the dream has changed.
I think the comforting female is you, or some aspect of you. It wants you to heal, it wants to comfort you and give you strength to move on. But you have to let the darkness sweep you away in order to find comfort and renewal. Paraphrasing Abigal_Austin again, death comes before the new beginning.
If you're going through heartbreak, have you already grieved the loss of your relationship properly? Are you being too hard on yourself, not allowing yourself to cry? Are you putting your emotions on pause, hoping that maybe your lover will change her mind and come back?
(Well hey, there's a possibility she could come back. I don't know the details of of your relationship. But going by this one dream, it seems to me that you feel like you're stuck in a loop that you want to move out of.)
If so, my suggestion is for you to set aside some time to just honor all the things you want to remember about the relationship. Just let the grief and loss hit you. Darkness is an important place to visit.
Then be your own bright figure in the darkness. Just remember that you were a complete person before you became part of a couple, and you're still a complete person now. Remember that you are whole. You are bright. Write down all the things you love about yourself, the things you're grateful for. Give yourself a big hug. Find that powerful, brilliant creature inside yourself and let it lead you out.
That's my take.

These broad strokes seem pretty consistent between our interpretations. To sum things up easily, the major points seem to revolve around the following:
Anxiety (probably due to some lingering uncertainty about a past relationship of fears in future ones)
Deep seated emotions (the water and the mist)
And a desire/potential for healing (the comforter)
What the details mean in their specifics will probably require more time and discussion.

Lingering in her last remaining place of comfort, unable to let go of the past. And soon to be left with nothing... A close friend of mine once had a dream very similar to this one and from my understanding, we dream of other people that were and still are emotionally attached to us. The lavender can often be associated with love. The crying, with regrets.
I hope this guided you a bit!~

Mine is a bit different. I interpret it as you are in your comfort zone in the shallow water and the mist represents the unknown. The person you loved came into your space.
The white figure could be someone you're supposed to meet. It sounds like you may have to go out of what you normally do to meet them.
Or I could be totally wrong.

That makes a lot more sense than mine because when I wrote mine I thought it was about someone who'd passed away. Yours makes more sense to me.
