The summer season was dry, plunging the kingdom into a drought that sapped the life from the soil; though efforts were made to properly ration, they fell short, and soon towns became vacant as common civilians fell to sickness, malnutrition and starvation. Riots broke out and ended bloody, those few living accusing their higher born lords and ladies of hiding rations, starving out the poor, elderly, and children in order to keep themselves fed and safe.

When Lords and Ladies begin to fall to terrible fates, rumors arise of the return of The Jester, a mysterious assassin who once plagued the kingdom, slaying the corrupt and injust. Where he had once been condemned as a murderer and criminal, the people seemed to rally behind this man, and had even gone so far once as to all dress vibrantly, adorning bells and assaulting guards as the man made his escape.

War brews on the border, as the dokkalfar King Kayghet grows bolder by the days, sending his soldiers to burn and pillage cities. And The Jester grows bolder with every ignored death of the people, his appearances flashier, his words stronger; fists begin to be raised in alliance with this killer, and all eyes begin to point to the capital city, to the fortified gates of the King’s castle.

But only when a border county is attacked does the dire situation become clear- allied with a horrible bandit King known as Iskra Sokol of the Onyx Bandits, the lord and lady, not to mention their troops, were slaughtered like animals in their sleep. With the entire city now under the control of the Onyx Bandits and the newly proclaimed Lord Sokol, the King has recruited the assistance of a party to infiltrate the city, and take down the bandit King and The Jester as their plans to attack the Capital begin to come to light.

But in your quest, you begin to discover that not all is as it seems; a mysterious alliance and an unholy pact linger in the shadows, and shifting loyalty may be the only way for you to make it out unscathed-

If at all possible.

Ah yES; I’ve been hoarding this plot for some time, and I’m itching for some new epic adventures and dark fantasy to venture on-
Do be aware this will be dark fantasy, mostly expressed through violence. Obviously we’ll be keeping it limited to mostly PG-13, but I intend to express more of Iskra’s villainous nature here.

Looking for a wide variety of characters to join in- IF someone is interested in taking the role of the king, please let me know so we can discuss the nature of the secrets that players will be uncovering throughout the game. This role will have to be carefully filled though, as I seek a certain type of King to take control of this region. If no one is interested, I have a king all set, don’t worry. I’ll be playing a multitude of characters here- Iskra Sokol, The Jester, King Kayghet Tirsa and on the side of the King, I’ll have the retired knight Lord Gray Hawthorne. Mostly seeking members to play on the side of the King; if you’d like to play on the side of The Jester and Iskra, let me know and perhaps we can work something out.

Dice use is intended for crucial combat moments- injuries/death to major characters. It may also be used in the event of casting spells that have a chance to fail, or simple decisions we’d like to leave up to chance- say, the success of attempting to ram a gate open. Not sure? Simply ask; I’m not too experienced in using dice myself but I’m sure we’ll be able to work this out.

Yeah, I'll play a noble for the King. I hope you don't mind, but can I (loosely) model him after Soontir Fel in Star Fandom? Like, he fights for the bad guys, because they provide order, but the guy himself isn't evil. Yeah, I know it might be a bit cliche, but I really don't like knowingly playing an outright bad guy.

I don’t mind at all; seems like he’d add an interesting dynamic! I actually really enjoy the idea of him fighting for the bad guys thanks to the order they provide, it’ll definitely clash greatly with the chaos-but-somewhat-decent-intentions of The Jester/Iskra duo.

I was wondering if this guy could fit in. He would most likely be a knight working for the king. If you need more elaboration on his characterization, don't be afraid to ask . This is a very interesting campaign concept, by the way.

Sorry for the late response- I absolutely would LOVE to have Gladin on this! I think his character would be an interesting one to mix in here.

As for the concept, thank you! It’s sort of a redesign of the very first concept that almost came of The Jester’s story, but it never got played out to the end so I decided to revamp it completely and go again haha.

Alright, I've been writing my character concept on paper. How's this: The aforementioned noble concept, he's young, and he's part of a hunting group (Akin to Rangers from either LoTR or Ranger's Apprentice series, but less nature focused and whatnot, and more on clockwork and 'tech', to put it loosely.). He has either a twin brother or a steward who he leaves his lands in control of while he hunts the Jester down, but the substitute just happens to be possessed by a demon/devil or whatever. That's the basic concept I've got in mind.

Would this make for an interesting concept?

I’m a tad late for this but, would this character fit into this story? I’m interested in the concept of this story and would love to RP with you guys despite being fairly new this this!

Are you still accepting new characters? If so, I think Alaric could fit in well with this setting! Sans mercenary band, though.

He’s such an interesting character, don’t be surprised if I drop a doodle of him at some point for you, I love his design and I cannot WAIT to see him in action

Hmmm... I'll see if I can finally put all of my concepts together tomorrow. Or Friday. Now, just to decide what music to listen to...
