Forums » Looking for RP » Dungeon Crawl - Funnel - PCs will die!! (closed)

This is inspired by the table-top RPG Dungeon Crawl Classics (however, this will be purely text based and no knowledge of the game is required). They have the concept of a 'funnel', where each player takes on multiple 0-level characters. Normal folks. During the course of the adventure, many of the characters die. Those that survive become 1st level characters.

So each player here would create 2-3 characters. All but 1 of your characters should die!

Playable races: human, elf, dwarf, gnome, half-orc. (Half-demons, half-dragons, vampires, werewolves, etc are not appropriate for this RP!)

Scenario: I'm open to suggestions. It could either be a treasure hunt into some recently discovered underground ruins. Or some kind of rescue mission? (Maybe friends and/or family have been kidnapped).

If we have fun with the RP, our surviving characters would have quite the backstory together! Maybe they'll even become professional adventurers!

If it's combat and adventure you're advertising, you can bet I'm down. If a player can have multiple characters, then as a writer and narrator, you best believe I'm gonna have fun with this. So, what do you say? I'm in, are you?

Awesome! Do you guys have a preference between a treasure hunt vs a rescue mission? (Or have another cool idea?)

I'm thinking this should be a Dungeon Crawl/Treasure hunt "mission". Heavy rains reveal a previously hidden cave entrance. A few silver coins are found nearby, sparking wild rumors around a village (possibly even to the surrounding areas for non-human characters) about the hoards of treasure located inside.

I'm hoping for one more player to join us, but either way, I'll try to get an IC thread started soon!

This sounds interesting! Since there will be multiple PCs per player and at least 2/3 are expected to die, is it alright if we don't make a specific "misc. characters" page or the like?

However each player wants to juggle that is fine by me. Personally, I'm going to run my 2-3 under a single character account for simplicity.

I haven't decided who my second (and possibly even third) character will be. Maybe a sister or cousin to one of the other player's characters if one of you might be ok with that?

(To be honest, I've never actually played the system myself, but have used several of their modules for Castles and Crusades. They've been excellent!)

Interested.... I've got a couple of characters in mind...

Though, could you excuse me if I use a main character, then a set of, say OOC characters? Or do you prefer all of the characters to be equal, as to make the chance more random?
