"And if you're caught? I can't allow you to take blame either. And what if it comes after us? We could be in danger..."
Matilda was hysterical. Not knowing what to do she went back in her house and invited Corvina in.

Corvina followed her into her house and tapped her foot, something she often did when she was lost in thought. "There has to be some solution to this..."
"I don't think it'll leave us alone now, no matter what we do." She said half to herself, half to Matilda. "It's obvious this thing is dangerous and able to sneak up on us without us knowing. It seems to have a sort of plan though. It's first victim, the captain had been laid out for all to see. Is it trying to make a point? I doubt it's human." Corvina's thoughts were pouring out. "Your uncle was involved, and he must have known more than us or the being might've thought he was more dangerous than us."
She shook her head. What was it's goal?

Matilda listened as she stepped behind a curtain to change into her day wear. She stepped back out with her usual dirty smithing wear on and sat down on her floor. She pondered the thoughtbof her uncle being involved.
"Uncle must have followed it for a purpose. Could he have seen it enter or exit the town? Maybe he was trying to play hero. I don't know but I'm getting to the bottom of this...even if it kills me."

"Probably don't have to wish too hard for that to happen, this thing obviously has the power to kill both of us, but it hasn't so it's either playing with us or we're needed for it's plan...Probably a little of both."
Soon both girls would be closer to this thing than either of them would probably care to be. It would soon begin talking to them through whisper. Only they would hear.
"I just hope we can find a way to stop it. I don't want to see any more death."
"I just hope we can find a way to stop it. I don't want to see any more death."
"Neither do I." She shuddered, remembering the gory scene from yesterday. "What can we do to stop it though?"
"I'm not sure yet... But I am sure of one thing. I'm going to report uncle missing. And I'm disposing of the dagger. Neither of us moved his body so there is no evidence that could possible pin it on either of us."
Corvina nodded. It was better than doing nothing. But what was this feeling that somehow it would go wrong? Maybe she was just getting paranoid.
Matilda stood back up and walked to the kitchen. She grabbed a towel to wrap the dagger in and made it look all nice like a wrapped gift to throw off suspicion.
"Alright, if anyone asks we're delivering this to the master blacksmith in the next town. It is my test after all. I was supposed to forge it and bring it back to him. So this works out. We can tell him what happened. I trust him."

"Ok. How long will it take to get to the town?" She got up and dusted off her dress.
"Maybe two to three hours at most. I've made the walk two to three times a day before. Its not so bad. Especially when there's company keeping you from walking alone. But when we get there we may be able to take the carriage back."
On the way out of the town Matilda explained to the guard that they were on the way to Black Hoof to give the gift to the black smith. The guard wished them a safe trip and let them on their way.
Corvina listened to Matilda talk to the guard and smiled at him politely when he wished them a safe trip. She was quiet in her thoughts as she walked. "You don't suppose it would strike during day, do you?"
(Gah x.x My post didn't show up.)
"I hope not. Maybe it only attacks at night. Maybe it won't follow us..."
Matilda led Corvina through the "safer" part of the field. The most to worry about would be a giant rat or two. And they usually fled the opposite direction.

Corvina jumped a little when they were met with the first rat. Her nerves were raw and she found it difficult to keep calm. She would be relieved when the town finally came into view.
Matilda shooed the rat away from Corvina. She wasn't particularly fond of them either. As they drew closer to the town things seemed a little gloom.
"This place is usually so bright and busy. I hope nothing has happened her like it did in our town..."

"I wonder how fast it is."
As they arrived at the town gate Matilda noticed everyone standing around the town square. They looked like zombies but not dead. More like brainwashed. Matilda slowly walked toward the square to see what was going on.

"Maybe it can teleport?"
Corvina was wary when she saw the crowd of zombie-like people. "We should be careful, at least until we know what's going on."
