"New comers? Gwahaha! I'll make the two of them my personal servants. They're both cute enough."
A strange man with an odd staff stood atop the tallest part of the square. Before Matilda could spot him he used the staff on her.
"I.....feel.........strange..."
She pushed against Corvina trying to get her to go but finally the effects took hold. Matilda walked toward the square and joined the congregation of people. The man pointed his staff toward Corvina and let out an eerie laugh as he fired the magic at her.

Corvina's eyes widened when she saw the man use his staff on Matilda. Instinct, more than anything, made her duck and roll as he tried to use his staff on her. "If I'd known I'd have to dodge magic users then I wouldn't have worn a dress..." She mumbled under her breath.
She promptly used her invisibility power and wove through the crowd as an extra precaution, in case he wasn't fooled. Most of the wizards she'd seen in small towns like this were amateurs trying to start off their careers, but it wouldn't do to be careless now.
The man looked confused for a moment, so Corvina silently drew her borrowed dagger and climbed towards him. Her heart was beating so loud she was sure he could hear it. She took the dagger with shaking hands and shoved it through his back over where his heart was.

The man was no amature. He saw her coming. He laughed quite loudly as the knife impaled what she though was his back. It was, instead, a thick piece of cow hide. The knife dug into it but not deep enough to harm him.
"Nice try, girl. But you'll be mine too."
"Nice try, girl. But you'll be mine too."
A few select words came to mind but she didn't bother to say them. This man scared the bajeebus out of her, but the thing from the cave scared her worse. Corvina tugged the knife out but it wouldn't budge from the cow hide. She got frustrated and kicked the man, hoping to, with some luck, dislodge the knife and push him down from the high place at the same time.
Luck was indeed on her side. Instead of the knife flying out the man fell from the place and landed on his back. The impact jabbed the knife deeper until it impaled him. Unfortunatly the spell didn't break. Matilda and the rest were still mindless zombies. It would seem that it would take someone equal in power or stronger than the magician to break the spell.
Corvina picked up the staff and sighed. "Too bad I didn't take Dad's advice and study a little magic." She walked up to Matilda and waved her hand in front of her face.
Matilda just stared blankly. Not moving at all, she only spoke.
"Your orders, my lady?"
"Your orders, my lady?"
(Lmfao.)
Matilda didn't return to normal. She followed Corvina around like a lost puppy, as did the rest of the town. One man stood in the shadows near the entrance to the town. He watched as Corvina was persued by the mindless people.

Corvina sighed. Anytime she moved, they followed. It was really just creeping her out. "Would you all stop please?" They did and she wondered about what to do next. She examined the staff more closely, but didn't find anything that would help her.
The mysterious figure made himself known then disappeared. If Corvina intended on saving her friend or these people he might know what to do. The figure appeared as if he were climbing the side of a building like a spider, but upon further investigation she should be able to see a grappling hook.
Corvina saw the man. He obviously wasn't under the same spell as the others. "Hey! Wait!" She ran over to the wall, the crowd of bewitched people watching her. "Can you help me?" She called up to the man on the wall.
The man chuckled and stopped.
"I can. But you must come alone. Leave your groupies behind and come in the tower from over there. Unless you can climb. Just drop that staff and noone should follow you."
(Sorry for the delay. Been busy.)

Corvina wasn't much of a climber so she decided to go in through the spot he'd pointed out. She propped the staff against a wall and wished she'd gone to pull the dagger out of the man. She walked in hesitantly and climbed into the tower.
