As the title implies, I'm looking for a slightly darker take on the magical girl genre, a la "Madoka Magica" and "Yuki Yuna is a Hero", with a dash of "Blue Exorcist" for good measure. Right off the bat, this will be an anime-inspired/animesque RP in terms of story and aesthetics. In terms of content, expect violence, occasional language, and touching upon themes like depression, addiction, and mental illness.
Preferably, I would prefer a small group of collaborators who prefer posts around 1-3 paragraphs. In addition to this, I would like help fleshing this plot out more, in terms of setting, rules of magic, et cetera.
Forgive me if this is too barebones, as this is the first time I'm pitching this idea outside of a private, 1×1 setting. If this catches your fancy, I'd love to hear thoughts and opinions!

Magic is rare, but not unheard of. Mundane characters may or may not believe in it. Magical characters may form small and exclusive pockets for study, protection, etc.
Modern
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.

I do have a basic idea of how magic would work (it being derived from human emotion), and two respective races feeding off of these emotions: Demons, which feed off of (and incite) negative emotions, and Fae, which feed off of (and incite) positive emotions. Under normal circumstances, neither can be seen or heard by normal humans.
Well my version of magic works as a "natural" part of the person that wields it.
Most magic users just think and concentrate on what they want to happen. Like if someone wants to use their magic to lift or teleport objects, they need to clear what they're currently thinking and concentrate. But others like Nightstorm don't really have these sorts of problems due to her strong mind and unbelievab knowledge of magic.
