Story and Setting: Future- It was 2020 when it all started. The gonverment wanted the medical people and scientists to create living organs and other stuff from the dead. It was said that if they were able to get the dead people before they rotted away then they might be able to remake any damage organ and save a new life. It was all well and good, that is until people started to die more often due to the experments on living subjects. Soon the people that were expermented on, that died, came back to life as the undead. The ones that survived the experments they began to change in their body features and manners. Some even became giant mutants, those were called brutes, they have no emotion but only to survive. They don't eat humans but they will kill any who go into their land.

Now it is 2025, five years since the choas began. The scientists and anyone else are trying their best to find a cure for the zombie rampage and the mutations. As of right now there is no luck.

Story begins!


Sara ran through the streets to try and get away from some Giant Mutants, who they called Brutes, were chasing after her. Mostly because she stole some food that they just killed with their own hands. She ducked under a fence that was all ready cut, by her and moved away from them.

It was bad enough that they had Zombies to worry about but these Mutants were even worse. It had been five years since the outbreak. Some people that were lucky made it out of the city and found safety under ground. The ones that weren't so lucky had to fight off their own kind, zombies and also these big mutants to live. Sara had been running for some time now, looking behind her to see if it was safe to stop and rest. When she saw it was, she paused in her tracks and tried to breath in and out to catch her breathe. She looked down at the meat she got, which was cow meat. "I hope this is enough for me and my brother."

Dave had been on the look out on the medium sized building they'd claimed as a hideout. It wasn't much, but it was secure for now. The wails and screams of the zombies on the main floor were the only, distant sounds to be heard for a while as he looked the street over. Just over a week, Sara and him had trapped them there. They'd broken in through a window and swarmed the first floor. When they started doing this, The siblings had started sealing the hallway to the first floor, and shortly after Dave had managed to bring some debris down from the building next to them to seal the zombies in. Their groans were still a bit discomforting, but he was getting used to them and the walkers made for an excellent line of defense.
He sat down and kept scanning the street, ready to get down to first floor so he could throw down the rope ladder they'd made when they barred themselves in. She hoped she'd get back soon, though - dusk was setting in, it'd be night soon...

Sara finally caught her breathe and arrived under the window where her brother was, "Brother!" She shouted in a whisper to him, looking around to see if there were any Zombies coming. Knowing if she made any more noises, more would come. Looking up at the window again, hoping her brother would throw the rope ladder down. "Brother! Its me, Sara! Throw down the rope ladder!"

Dave had seen her coming before she made it to the window. He quickly ran down the stairs to the first floor of the building and appeared at the window. He looked left and right one more time, then threw down the rope ladder.
As soon as she would get up, Dave pulled it back inside and look at her accusingly. "Don't you run off like that again, please. We need to stick together - we may well be the only ones left!" He wasn't really angry or anything... He'd just been scared.

Sara stuck her tongue out at him, "Oh relax! I can handle myself! Plus, I got us dinner." She smirks softly as she held up the plastic bag of meat. Then tossed it over to him. "So how have our neighbors been holding out." Motioning to the sound of groaning and moaning coming from the bottom floor.

Dave sighed deeply, but couldn't help but smile. Apocalypse or not, She'd never change. "They've been quiet. Probably finally forgot we're here. They won't move anymore - either they'll starve to death eventually if that's even possible, or they'll get to deal with any intruders." He sat down and took the meat from her. "Let's go upstairs and get a bit of this cooked, shall we?"

Sara smiled at him as she nods her head, "Well at least they are quiet down. I was getting tired of them moaning and groaning. Sometimes, I couldn't get to sleep at all." She followed him up the stairs. "I had to take that meat from those Brutes. It was funny! I wish you could of been there to see me, brother. Those things may be big but they sure are dumb."

Dave's eyes widened as she looked back at her. "You took it from Brutes!?" he could almost scream his frustration. "Well I do hope those 'dumb' brutes aren't developing a sense of smell, or we'll be seeing more of them sooner or later." He sighed deeply. "Anyway, nothing we can do about that now. Let's just get this started.

Sara saw the frustration in his features. "I made sure they didn't follow me. I even covered up the scent and everything. Just like you told me." She walked over to the couch and took a seat upon it. The couch had seen better days but that was the good thing, the stuff that was here all ready came with the place. Thankfully there was a bed in the other room, so that was a big plus.

Dave started cooking the steak in a small kitchen in the room next to where Sara was at the moment. About thirty minutes, he had cooked up some of the steak to a nice brown color. He put whatever was left back in the bag and into a fridge. For some reason, electricity was still working. Dave had no idea for how long that'd be, though.
He walked back into the living room with two plates, each had some steak on it, and handed one to Sara. "Dinner's served!" he handed her a knife and fork and went back to the kitchen to grab some of the vegetables they'd found looking around the plate. A tomato and a bit of salad for today. he put them on a seperate plate in front of them and sat down next to her.

Sara smiled up at her brother when she got the plate, fork and knife. She was glad to see some real food and nothing like that canned stuff. As she ate, she looked over to the window. Finished one or two bites then laid the plate on her lap. "Do you think we'll see anyone else out there?" She was actually hoping to see someone else besides the zombies or Brutes that they both saw all day.

Dave looked outside as well only to see dusk turn to night. "Hmm. Maybe... It's possible, we're still here after all. There could be others like us." He shook his head. "There's no telling where, though. Only reason we're still here is because the country limits my movement - I can move quicker and stealthier here. There's not many who can do such things. It's an advantage though - if there's bad people out there, they won't dare come into the city to raid the stores, they'd believe it to be too dangerous." He looked thoughtfully for a second. "I'm gonna have to teach you at some point."

Sara finished eating and placed her plates down on the floor beside her. She looked up suddenly when he said he would have to teach her, "Teach me? What you do?! Are you crazy! Brother, I don't need to worry about that. I can handle myself just fine as it is. Two, you are here so I got nothing to worry about." She smiled brightly as she stood up and walked over to the window just to watch the sun set.

"I guess you can indeed handle yourself if you manage to steal a brute's still fresh meal!" he said accusingly, but with a cheeky grin on his face. He walked over to her and leant against the wall next to the window to look outside. "I wonder what happened to mom and dad." he said as they looked out. He's smile faded.
Both their parents had been on a businesstrip when it all started. They've been in contact the first few days, but they lost them when the cellphone providers went down. Right now, they could only guess where they were.

Sara eyes sadden and her smile faded away. She watched the sun set as a single tear ran down the side of her face. "They're fine. I know they are. I can feel it." But she was actually lying to herself, just hoping that they would be fine. As she looked at the sun go over a building, she began to sing a song that her mother sang to her before she went to bed.

"Do not be scared and push forward.
That mother and father will always be there for you.
When you go to sleep and it seems your nightmares will take you away from us.
Just be brave and call out our names.
We will come and save you."

As she finished singing it or at least part of it, more tears ran down her cheeks. She began to sob softly as she place her hands upon her face.

Dave smiled softly at the sun. When she started crying he pulled her close to him and hugged her. "You're right. They're okay, and they're somewhere out there. I can feel it. And so can you, I'm sure." he smiled. "Besides, dad's way to much of an asshole to let those zombies come near him and mom, and you know it."

Sara nods her head softly as she hugs him close, "Yeah he is." She wiped the tears from her eyes and smiled softly up at him, "Just like you are a big ass hole." Sticking her tongue out at him playfully.

He just gave her a friendly tap on the head. "Hey, I can't do anything about it! It's dad's fault that I am who I am!" he grinned. "Come on, let's catch some sleep. Maybe tomorrow we can go outside and see if we can find anyone."

Sara nodded her head as she walked over to the plates she put down on the floor. Picked them up and walked into the kitchen to place them into the sink. Then walked back over to the bedroom and climbed into bed. She pull the covers over her and looked up at the ceiling. "I hope we do find more people."

Dave made sure all the windows and shutters were closed before he walked into the bedroom himself. "Yeah well, you're not alone." He looked out the bedroom window one last time before he closed that one off as well. Then he got in next to her and gave her a kiss on the forehead. An old habit since he was 6 and she was 4. "G'night sis."
