Somehow not a lot of people know this, and it is concerning; but it's bi visibility day!
As a bisexual person myself, I often feel really seperated and secluded from the lgbtq community. Many bisexual people including myself face biphobia and hatered from people in the lgbtq community. It's unfortunate and will likely take quite a while before that is a rare thing, but for now we can only remind ourselves and others that bisexuality is real, valid, beautiful, and that today is the day to speak up about it!
Tell your bi friends and family you love them, share a bi flag if you can, and don't let us go unnoticed.
The fact that many people, even bi people themselves, have no idea that today is bi-visibility day, and I've seen very little about it on other websites, speaks volumes. It's startling; but it will be okay.
If you're bi and want someone else who is bi to talk to about your experience in biphobia, bi-coming out, or bi-acceptance, feel free to PM me.
- For anyone else, please respect that this topic is specifically about bisexuality and bi visibility day only, it not meant to erase other sexualities, but is meant to be an encouraging topic as well as safe topic space for bisexual people on RPR. Just like gay and lesbian people as well as other sexualities, bisexual people have a different experience with prejudice, coming out, and acceptance, an experience that is specific to bisexuality, and sometimes we need to talk about it. -

happy bi visibility day! we are Visible. we are Here. Beware.
in all seriousness it makes me happy to see bi positivity on here because it took me ages to figure out that being bi was an actual option for me, and i think biphobia really affected me. but now i’m really content with myself and just. love everyone. yeehaw. that’s all for oversharing with oliver.

Thank you dear!
May you become so visible and accepted that the day becomes redundant!
I understand erasure, "no you're not," and hostility from parts of the LGBTQ+ community... I know it really sucks. XP
Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm sure you've helped brighten some days with it.

Personally, I don't care (for lack of a better word) whether you're bi, gay, straight, genderfluid, genderqueer, asexual, demisexual - you're a person, and deserve respect and equal rights with everyone else. I wish society would get with it and let go of prejudices.
Happy Bi Visibility Day. Looking forward to the time when such days become unnecessary because equality is a given.

Hi, thank you hun. I am looking forward to when equality and love and respect is given for everyone regardless of sexuality too.
This is definitely more about fact that people [including gay people] try to claim that bisexuality doesn't exist. It's not so much about us not being treated equally (at least not entirely), it's about our sexuality being called 'not real' or 'selfish' by people. It definitely has to do with respect, but also has to do with the way people view us even if they don't technically disrespect us.
I hope someday there is a generation of people who are raised to see all sexualities as normal as having brown eyes.
*salutes* I see you. Thanks for making a space for all of us on this day. Sometimes I feel like no one ever takes me seriously when I say I'm bisexual, so I really haven't admitted to many people in my life. But it's wonderful seeing so much in the world changing. We're all very lucky to live in the times we do.

Hear, hear! Couldn't have said it better myself.

First off, Happy Bi-Visibility Day to you Damnation!
What Tim and Damn say here is really gripping. Maybe one day, I hope in my lifetime, that equality of all sexual identities will be a given and not even a noticeable thought need be given to anyone’s sexuality. May it be one day, and that day I look forward to.
From someone who is bi²: bigender and bisexual, I also wish you and all fellow bisexuals a Happy Bi-Visibility Day!
We really do need to be seen more, though. Huge hints of bisexuality has been around since the Greek empires and beyond, so I do find it a bit strange that we're still being ignored and ridiculed for liking more than one gender. Maybe one day indeed we won't have to have days like this where we ache to be acknowledged by both the straight and LGBT+ communities. It can just be a normal day where we can greet our loved ones openly without fear.
But until then: stay active, stay as visible as you can or as you feel comfortable in doing, and stay proud of who you are!

I had no idea about bi visibility day, and I'm bisexual myself, so thank you so much for sharing.
I love all the positivity on here. I'm out to all of my friends, but not my family - and that sucks, but someday, I hope I can be open with them about that part of myself. I can totally relate to the stigma and judgement/prejudice against people who identify as bi - it's real, and it stinks. I'd personally prefer a stronger word, but ya know - this is a happy thread with lots of positive vibes and we're celebrating.
I'm extremely sleepy and stressed, but this made me smile. I'm so happy that there's acceptance here. It means so much and it's amazing to know I'm not alone.
Thank you all, and happy belated bi visibility day.
