I want to preface this by saying the title does not mean this RP will include an abusive relationship! That is not what it's referring too. Each word is referencing different factors in the RP. Backstories/Previously hurt characters, fighting within the RP, and then romance.
Fighting is the way of live in Northburn. It's a constant and encouraged. Of course, there are rules. Arenas and times. It's not a free for all, they aren't animals. They're mages. The ruling family, for whom the city got it's name, hosts festivals of great feats of magic and strength of their heirs. Proclaiming them as the strongest and the bravest. This is true at least. Then the time finally comes for them to pick who will take the mantle of the Head of Northburn. Many think the best candidate is the eldest daughter, Rowan. However, not everyone agrees. Each of the three sisters has their own followings who are pushing them to win all while vying to get in their good graces.
One of the sisters is Blair. A young woman with no interest in her families petty squabbles who instead wants to fight in the arenas of Rujin. A neighboring kingdom that is currently at odds with her home. The arenas of Northburn would never accept her as a champion and this only serves to infuriate the already explosive heir. With suitors trying for her hand at every festival and every fight she wants to burn it all down to the ground.
Until one night, a mysterious shadowy figure arrives at the main estate where Blair lives. She knows they have an agenda, a motive for being here but part of her doesn't care. This is the one person in all of Northburn who either doesn't know who she is or doesn't care. They don't talk about her sister's like they are better, they may flirt and joke but none of it has an air of smug superiority as the suitors she deals with during the day. She almost doesn't mind it. Each night she leaves the windows of the wing of the house unlocked and each night they sneak in.
Eventually they seek her out during the day. A masquerade hosted by her family where she is to perform feats of magic and combat with her siblings. Distracted but determines she wins. Proudly strutting over she rips their mask off to reveal an old friend she believed was dead years ago.
Whoo! What happens after this initial "chapter" will depend on what we plot out! It can vary from dramatic court drama to adventure across a fantastical continent and maybe even the seas!

Magic is fairly common. Players and NPCs important to the tale may have it. Mistborn.
