Ara (played by Rook) Topic Starter

Given he wasn't really catching on, Ara figured correcting him again wouldn't do much. Instead, she'd ignore it all for now. She glanced up at the sky, contemplative. "Dunno. Might be too much energy in one go, there is the possibility of it overdoing it and blowing up your ship." Especially if the storm turned out to be outright nasty. "Should get it modified to handle that, while you're here. It's not really expensive." She figured he had the credits, if he was actively doing jobs around the area.

"...What. Why are you doing that?" She'd ask once he decided to air-guitar again, out of the blue, and she raised an eyebrow again. The maintained eye contact did little to concern her, even if it was strange in combination with the act. Humans could be so odd. "It can be, she's rather quiet and the design is meant to sneak through certain areas, especially if I fly her at an angle." The elf explained, sitting up straight.

"So, you want some candy or anything? I've got plenty."
Niko (played anonymously)

That 'space lass' Niko had been sitting near the door of the ship with her polite stash of both Brash and Ara's candies, picking delicately at piece after piece, and watching the emotions that played across the elf's face and the rock star do...what she could only assume were rock star things. Lots of bes and nyooms and wah-wahs and wiggly fingers. Maybe it had something to do with those 'eighties' - she didn't know the eighties. Maybe things had changed really quickly.

Whatever he was doing, it was entertaining and funny enough, probably 'tubular' - and she'd giggled a couple of times in spite of herself.

But as the pair made to move closer to the ship, she hurriedly scrambled to her feet with a little yelp and stood up straight, scuttling out of the way if need-be!

((This is still very much open if anyone else wants to pop in!))
Brash (played by Pantrane)

Brash had earlier referred to Ara as Space Lass after he left Niko's vicinity. Niko was the Dudette to Brash. Dudette Niko.

Vik laughed as Ara asked why he did that again. The truth was that her reaction was likely the answer and his laughter was the result. "Why? Because rock and roll!" He grimaced and stuck his tongue out way farther than it should have been able to go.

When she talked about the storm overloading his system, he spoke in a rather airy tone and said. "It's all under control. This here has SmartPaks. They'll monitor blast levels, totally calculate off each strike and adapt the system. It's so radical!" Every ship has its perks. Ara's is quick and stealthy. It has the troop transport role and fills it well. Brash's fighter was designed to be rugged. The bulky panels on the front of his fighter were fluxation calibrators. They helped absorb energy and transfer it to the battery pack. The system was developed on a planet where that was their main source of energy. It likely had elements related to what Tesla worked on, but to a campy futuristic degree.

The system was integral to helping the fighter deflect energy blasts, as a secondary function was to repel. The system can switch between repel and absorb mode up to 15 times per second.

"Candy sounds great", Brash said. As he saw it was a troop transport, he realized she might find herself in harm's way. "Say. there's something I have for you. Give me a bit. Me and my surplus." He laughed a little.

Brash turned and waved to Niko. He gave her a thumbs up. "Right on, Dudette Niko." He smiled and made his hand into an aircraft. Looking back at the black ship, Vik couldn't help but think how great of an escort Nightowl's fighter would be. It had stealth material, a jammer and a cloak. It was basically an electronic warfare fighter. Nightowl was another band member, one who rocks a mohawk and a ponytail.

Ara ignored the display as best as she could, though going through candy helped. However, she was quite happy to talk of ships and their added bonuses. "That's something else, I wonder how many people had that foresight. Would certainly make travelling easier, less stops and all that." Plus, outrunning ships was easier if you didn't run out of power as quickly as the rest. She'd have considered it herself, but she didn't want to spend money on something she might not need right away. "What do you like?" Ara asked, gesturing to the bowl of candy and snacks on her lap.

However, mention of having something for her was unexpected and she looked up with a slight tilt of her head. "Do you?" She asked curiously, sitting up straighter. While her ship was good for transport, the guns attached to the front and top meant it wasn't entirely defenseless. She needed more than Zeta's ship if the man was busy, afterall. "If you want, I can give you my commlink. Might be a good time to head back before the heat melts my chocolate, doesn't seem like anyone else is coming about. I can't blame them, though, wandering around out when its hot and sandy is certainly not anyone's idea of a good time.

The elven woman stood, holding the bowl with one hand and towards Brash so he had a chance to take one of the treats for himself should he choose. As for little Niko, she'd attempt to usher the young girl into the ship. "My friend, the Wari, she'll show you where the bath is. Get yourself cleaned up. We don't have kids clothes, but I'll let you borrow one of my longer shirts. It'll cover you up completely."
Brash (played by Pantrane)

"Gummi candy is always awesome", said the Rocker as he turned to his ship. Should he wait? His memory was so gnarly. After he browsed her selection to see what she had, she soon began to talk of leaving. It seemed as if he had just arrived. If she was busy, he understood.

"Well... Let me get something from my ship, right quick." He jogged away from her and climbed the flexible ladder up into his cabin. He pulled something which was strapped to the side of his cabin. It was an extra for a second pilot that could ride in his ship's second seat. Since he didn't have another assigned, it was surplus.

Brash stepped back up to the space elf. He offered her a carbine sized beam rifle. It was lightweight. It had an advanced scope that could help range targets up to 420 meters, adjusting the beam's length accordingly. It also had a pulse mode for faster follow up shots. It might make the perfect CQB addition to her arsenal.

Niko (played anonymously)

Niko attempted to listen to Brash and Ara's talk (while poorly pretending that she wasn't), but all of this ship talk was increasingly beyond her. Grown-up stuff, probably. Ships and weapons and things.

When attention finally swung back on her, she nodded at Ara's instructions, before waving cheerily at Brash ("Rock on!") and turning to creep away to follow the Wari inside.

The kid was so small and skinny that the shirts of a rather tall person like Ara did well in acting like a complete outfit on its own. She even managed to tie it off at the waist like a little dress.

And when Ara eventually returned on her own time, she would likely find Niko parked cross-legged near the little bat-alien Lobelia's enclosure, sleepily staring and gently poking at the tiny creature.

Since the man presented a rather unexpected gift in the form of a rifle, especially the sort she was fond of, she held out the entire bowl of candy as if this was a fair trade. Whether or not the treats exchanged hands, Ara accepted the gun to look it over completely. Pulling out the magazine, she examined the amount of bullets it held. "This is a good one, lovely sights." She commented once those were tested. "Thank you."

Ara held it propped against a shoulder after. "It'll be a nice addition to both what I have and my work." With Niko inside, the elf would slip inside only to return with her commlink that was quickly offered to the Space Rockstar. "For when you need to contact me. I always have my comm.device with me and Andromeda keeps messages for when I'm sleeping. Until then, you take it easy."

When she headed back in after that, she'd be in for the rest of the evening.
Brash (played by Pantrane)

After Brash took the candy and handed over the carbine, he dug into a cargo pocket on his vest. "Give these sours to Niko", Brash said, as the girl had entered the ship. He had handed over the rest of the sour candies he panned on handing out to any newcomers.

"I'm going to chill out in my fighter while it recharges then. I'll totally warm up some chili and have some eats too. You stay cool, Ara", said the rocker.

Looking down at the commlink in his palm, he tossed it in the air before catching it. "I'll definitely give you a call. Stay cool." He bowed to her, before executing the military movement of 'left face', kicking his heels to the side to twist towards his fighter. He stepped off towards the ladder.

Now that the party was ending, he was faced with the prospect of returning to combat. The seemingly cool and collected rockstar felt his stomach twist into knots. He climbed into his fighter and shut the hatch. The best thing about his fighter wasn't the energy padding. It was the sound system. He had thousands of rock songs on file, including his own. His fighter remained parked next to Ara's.

He'd sit right there in his seat with the hatch open. Rock music was blaring loudly, audible on the flight deck outside. Brash didn't just sing along. He jammed out on his air guitar, as the fighter's head's up screen flashed the charging icon.

Ara accepted the candies with a nod, which would certainly be passed on to Niko when she was inside. A bow of her head followed Brash's own gesture and she scratched at the back of her neck, a smile following. "I look forward to hearing from you." Who didn't like random jobs, afterall? With more new 'mercs', there was certainly plenty. The blaring music next door was of no concern, since she probably heard a great deal of it from Zeta when he was showing off various things from Earth too.

Of course, that meant she'd be sending Zeta a message - he'd certainly be thrilled to hear about it, for sure, the elven woman decided. Inside her own ship was quiet, but Ara had hopped into a sort of VR game after she was sure the young girl was settled.

((Thank you guys, for the fun, and random drop-ins!))
