The Nightmare HQ was quite busy with excitement. Halloween had always been a favorite of the team, but no one was quite as excited as Nightmare. For Halloween was the one day that he felt he could show of his true form without guilt and the children always loved the cool stuff the Nightmares pulled off for them. But this year, something was different and they knew it would be so. Who knew what kid would show up and which Nightmare they would see. All they knew was that is was going to be a fun night.
She truly had no idea what to go as this year. Cassandra was wracking her brain to no end and even went as far as to consult her elder sister on who to dress up as. Of course, Cassandra shot down just about every idea that Sophitia had suggested until, as luck would have it, she saw the rather voluptuously chested ninja, Taki, walking around without a care in the world that she was lacking an actual costume that wasn't her every-day red ninja suit. And seeing that? It gave Cassandra the perfect idea for a costume to wear.
The pale-faced blonde dressed up in identical skin tight suit that hugged her curves and of course took her favorite sword and shield with her. Her hair she didn't bother to do much with; it's not like it was long enough to fit into a ponytail like the ninja, and Cassandra simply left it in the semi-ponytail it already was, leaving her hair the natural blonde color. She wore a red mask that concealed her face, save for her eyes.
Cassandra wandered the streets with a pumpkin bucket in her hand, her sword and shield tied to her pale hip and her green eyes scouting around and observed all the little children roaming the streets, giggling and screaming in joy. This brought a soft smile to her lips.

As the kids passed the HQ, Nightmare flipped a switch that had activated all of the spooky halloween decor around it to come to life. There was a couple skeletons that danced around a singing pumpkin, some floating ghosts that flew over the street as if they were real, and a lot of other stuff. Nightmare smiled as he turned on the porch lights to signal the trick-or-treaters to come on by for some sugary loot.
Cassandra instantly came to a stop, stilling in place and obviously taken by surprise. When half of the kids started screaming and a good few other ones burst into good-natured laughter amused by the skeletons and singing pumpkin, Cassandra was going to draw out her sword and shield. But then halted her descending hands: It was Halloween; there was bound to be plenty of things that would look dangerous but weren't quite as they appeared. So the blonde eased her hands back up and resumed her walk, now approaching the HQ which had clearly caught her eye.
"Got to admit," she said, "that caught me off-guard for a minute." Then her eyes hit the porch light flickering on.

Nightmare sensed the children coming to the HQ, so he grabbed the candy bowl and awaited the crowd of children at the door. "Alas, dear children, I seem to be out of candy." As he saw the heartbroken faces he added "But do not despair, for the great and noble Nightmare always has a few tricks up his sleeve." He studied the crowd and figured out what each one would want. "I think we can manage some of this!" Nightmare exclaimed excitedly as he pulled some candy right from his sleeve and handed it to the children. As the children excitedly ran back to their friends and parents to tell them what happened, Nightmare saw someone new approaching. As he studied the newcomer, he snapped his fingers and filled the bowl with candy. "Let's see. I think we can probably get her something like a M&M's bag or something." he said as she arrived at the doorstep.
Hearing the name Nightmare brought back a few flashbacks for the blonde as her mind put up mental images of a man covered from head to toe in azure armor who wielded a huge sword with an evil ever lingering eye in the middle. Cassandra, however, quickly shook the thoughts from her head and just watched the children run away into the night, running home with candy in tow. She then approached him and her eyes grew, seeing the candy suddenly causing the bowl he held out to fill with candy.
"That's a pretty fancy trick there," Cassandra said with a grin. She stood at the door-step, eyes shifting around the HQ, drawn in.

Nightmare smiled. "It's a good trick to have when there's kids coming from all over." he said. "Nice costume, by the way." he added as he flicked his wrist and summoned a king-size candy bar from his sleeve for the girl. He always admired the simple magic tricks he could do.
"I bet." She gave a half nod. "You actually had me fooled for a minute there. Although in my defense, I've seen so many weird things that have become normal to me at this point, it's an easy mistake to make to confuse a simple gag or trick for something much more serious and realistic." Of course, she was referring to the likes of the azure night, Nightmare and the cursed sword that he carried, Remnant who was a walking semi-sentient skeletal creature...Lizardman and so many others that the list could go on and on and on. Heck, she could probably make a supernatural novel out of the creatures she encountered. "Oh, thanks. I've gotten a few compliments, some of them..I'd rather forget. You have a pretty good one yourself." She thought being surprised was beyond her at this point. But she was once again proven wrong as the king-sized candy bar was summoned and Cassandra reached out to take it with a smile on her face. "You're full of surprises, aren't you?"
Nightmare smirked. "Absolutely. And thanks. I made the costume myself." Well, he wasn't technically lying? It didn't feel like a lie. "And don't worry about anyone trying to hit on you. You've faced worse things. The Nightmare you had to deal with sounds worse than me though. Have a good night." Nightmare said as he closed the door. Honestly, that had to be the biggest trick he's pulled so far. His aura reading skills were very active when there were feelings of discomfort and fear, but Halloween was different. Magic was in the air and it helped with a lot of his tricks.
Jack and Mike were out on patrol, on this strange nights so full of life and exciting events, there always was a chance that thieves would try to wreck havok stealing from others and ruining the fun.
It was for this very reason that they were out on patrol and passing by several properties until they stopped in front of the Nightmare HQs.
They had heard about people flocking there given the host's generosity and friendliness but Mike was completely gobsmacked when he saw just how grandiose and well decorated the entire building was.
This was too good an opportunity to give it a miss.
"Come on Jack... I mean sarge... you like candy as much as the rest of us... let's get a handful of sweets and carry on" encouraged Mike
Jack nodded in agreement, making a light stop in the middle of duty to take a look at this imposing building and tripped on the ground picking up an unusual discarded object.
"That is definitely not candy... best we return it to the owners before anyone gets hurt" decided Jack venturing into the Nightmare HQ to hand over the unusual sword and, of course, raid a handful of candies in the process

Nightmare had been out on the porch with his bowl of candy and was going to go inside until he saw the two officers. It was a bit unusual, until he noticed they had his sword. "Thank you officers. I was wondering where this little rascal had gone." Having taken the sword, he put it into the sheath on his back and, in return for their good deed, had pulled out two king-size candy bars out of his sleeves for each of them. "Thank you for your service out in the field. Have a nice night."
Mike and Jack looked suspiciously at Nightmare, quickly pocketting the candy before anyone saw them and took it for bribery
"You mean to tell us that nobody tried to steal it? that you just ... lost... this large... antique... sharp... item out of the blue?" questioned Jack eyeing the Nightmare with his eyes slightly narrowed
"I think we better take a look at your building sir... a thorough inspection to make sure this wasn´t the work of thieves... mind if we check out the building? It won´t take long I assure you..." suggested and proposed Mike who clearly was after getting more candy and pocketting it when the civilians weren´t out in the streets looking

Drew headed down to the next house, excited. His dog was with him, dressed as a demon to accent his own costume, and he knew that sometimes candy-givers would ooh and aah and give more. He ran up, grinning.
Nightmare smiled. "Of course. Feel free to search the building. I'll just continue to hand out my candy. And yes, I do magic tricks for the children and I seem to have used a teleportation spell instead of my usual disappearing spell. It entertains the kids a lot. Oh, looks like I have another customer. If you want, feel free to help yourselves to the candy. I should have enough to last the night." As the new kid appeared, he noticed the costume on the dog. "You took your pet with you to trick or treat? That's adorable. I should try to find mine and see if he would get into a costume. Anyways, try this out." Nightmare says as he flicks his wrist and pulls out two candy bars.
"No problem. Well, you did a good job," Cassandra's eyes were now fixated on the king size candy bar while she conversed with the other. She couldn't wait to share some of this with her older sister, Patroklos and Pyrrha would probably enjoy some as well; those two kids loved their candy. Hey, how did y---," but before Cassandra was able to complete her sentence which was inquiring the other of how he knew about Nightmare, their conversation had come to a close. She nodded her head. "Same to you. And thanks for the candy." Then the blonde walked off, counting the candy she had collected.
She wasn't sure if she should just head home at this point, or continue to wander the streets and find more candy. After all, this sort of special fun only came once a year.

As more kids came to the HQ, Nightmare performed more magic tricks for them. They children seemed to enjoy it and asked how he did it very often "Now, now children, a good magician never tells his secrets." He always said to them. There were a lot of cool costumes, but Nightmare knew there was more to come.
Drew thanked him, counting the candy he had been given so far and heading away, his dog following him.
A little later, Jack and Mike came out of the building, pockets well stuffed with the given sweets and candy and complimented the nightmare for his efforts
"All is in good order sir... " Reassured Mike "We shall not disturb you further, do call if you require our assistance" smiled broadly
"Great decorations by the way, some seemed real and all" smiled Jack the pair turning to return to the car and continue patrolling, or better said, chasing more sweets along the streets

Nightmare smiled as the officers left. "You guys have a womderful day. Thank you for your service to this city." he said before he started handing out more candy to kids.
Halloween... it was always such a perfect night to be a villain right under everyone's noses. Weaver had given thought to how perfect it was, though she never really acted upon it. If anything, Emily was actually pretty content with being Weaver on a night where no one would even bat an eye. If anything, it gave a weird sense of normalcy where any other day, there would be another confrontation with Swallowtail or Thresher... or both. Sometimes their other friends that hung around the area on occasion as well.
Plus... the candy and treats that she got tonight were also the icing on the cake and why it was worth not really causing too much of a ruckus.
Peering around the area, Weaver made her way toward the large building.
"Sorry to be a bother~" the Swedish accent hung thick in Weaver's voice. "However... I suppose the saying is 'trick or treat'?"
