He calmed down a bit. "Ok." He smiled at her. The food arrived and He waited for her to see if she liked it.

Shadow blushed a little when she noticed he was watching. She took a bite and swallowed." This is really good."

"Good, we're gonna have to give our compliments to the chef." He smiled at her and started eating. "How are you enjoying the house?"

Shadow nodded." Wasn't expecting the butler though."

"Oh, yeah sorry about that. I forgot to tell you." He grinned sheepishly.

"I figured that out." She smiled.

"Yeah. So, how did you become, how you are now?"

"My soul was eaten shortly after I died but as for how am I alive, I do not know."

Dearest, your soul was not eaten. None of theirs truly are. Your soul was converted to that of a Shadow: Black. Cold. Powerful.

I decided to allow it to remain in your mortal body, feeding its power to it. You may not remain in that form for long.

A voice emanated from the room the two were in. Only the girl could hear it. The source of the voice was unknown, but a very large presence was definitely felt by both parties. The room grew a tad darker, and the girl might find that a shadowy mist (known, ironically, as Smoke) emanating from her own form.

Welcome back, Heart of the Shadow. You shall be my champion.

The room then went silent, although the presence remained.

He stopped with a chill. "Is it just me or did it get cold in here?"

Shadow's body tensed as she scanned the room." Another Shadow but...I know the voice from somewhere...." Shadow swallowed." Jin, can we leave? I have a really bad feeling." Shadow noticed the room grew darker as well and felt a strong urge to transform. With her own shadows, she surpressed the smoke before Jin could see it.

"Yeah you bet. Just let me pay the bill." Jin got up and payed the bill, leaving tip in the bill book.

Shadow stood up and walked out the door. She shivered from her nerves as she looked around.

Jin caught up to her, "What's wrong?" he asked concerned.

Dearest... Do not be afraid... You cannot run from me. I am your creator. I am your patron. You shall be my champion. The girl's mortal form may experience a burning sensation that felt like freezing and burning at the same time. (So hot it's cold type thing.)

A Shadow leapt from a nearby wall- It was Jin's shadow, in fact. It had glowing, white-hot, unblinking eyes. It simply stood there, holding its hand out to the girl. Take it it seemed to say, although no words were audible. Take my hand.

Should Jin attack the shadow, he'd find it was intangible.

The presence and feeling of being watched grew stronger.

Shadow winced as she let out a pained breath." Who the heck are you?! I haven't ever seen you before." She stepped in front of Jin, hoping to keep him away from harm. She shivered more from the feeling and presence.

(Yeah, it's called freezer burn bro! lol sorry, I couldn't help it also I apologize if, in fact, you are a woman.)

Jin looked terrified at the turn of events, even though he was born into a family of people with abilities like this, seeing it first hand was something else. Sweat dripped from his forehead as he thought of what to do. He grabbed Shadow Heart's hand and dragged her into a dark ally way between streets, so they still had somewhere to go if it came to running more. The night was dark and it was a new moon, the light from the street lights was even shying away from the seemingly impenetrable darkness. "Are you alright? There are no shadows here, so we should be safe." Jin asked still breathing heavily from sprinting with Shadow Heart right behind her, holding her hand to make sure they didn't get separated.

(Have you ever felt really, really hot water? There's a very odd sensation that it becomes so hot it almost feels cold.)

Jin pulled the girl into a dark alley to escape the shadow. And therein lay his mistake. He was correct in that there were no individual shadows there, but he was incorrect in thinking it was safe.

The dark alley was a dark alley for a reason. Many white-hot eyes like the ones on Jin's shadow began appearing everywhere the two looked.

Impudent fool... The Shadow's voice echoed so loudly in Jin's mind that if his ears were truly hearing it they would go deaf. Since the voice went straight to the source, however, he was not afforded such a luxury. You cannot keep my Champion from me. A very loud ringing sound would be heard in the man's head. It wouldn't stop, or go away. It grew in volume. Louder, and louder, and louder...

The girl would hear the voice saying something much different.

Come, step into the Shadows. Join us, embrace your newfound power. The girl might begin to feel the urge to step into the wall.

Staring into the any of the pairs of eyes for long enough would cause Jin to become slightly dizzy, and tired. The sound would begin to fade...

Shadow had wnough. SHe growled inhumanly before transforming into a human shadow. She hissed, protecting Jin." Go away now! Why am I your Champion? There are other Shadows you can choose from." Her voice sounded demonic and her white eyes glared at the other eyes. She was angry and didn't like this new Shadow that wanted her to join whoever it was talking about. She was confused but kept that to herself and didn't let it show.

Not knowing what to do, since the shadows were apparently made of darkness and not just shadow, Jin stood by the shadow form of Shadow Heart; ready to move in a moment's notice. His eyes flickering back and forth from all the shadows around him.
