Yukiko sniffed. All around her was a small area of winter. The lake was frozen, the ground and trees were covered in snow. It was cold even though it was summer everywhere else. Yukiko was huddled in the small cave beneath the small cliff, crying. No one could see or hear her which mad her sad. Her long white hair spilled behind her and she wore a white dress that covered her well. She had no friends nor had she ever left her little winter home. She buried her face in her arms, silently sobbing. She wanted someone to see her, she wanted someone to hear her. Yukiko wanted someone to finally notice she was here.
The breeze had picked up, the trees danced in the breeze, leaves floating gently along. Kyo had dwelling in the area for some time now in the form of a red fox. Glancing about as she poked her head out from behind a tree, she saw a snow flake. Snuffing, her ears perked with curiosity. Snow in the forest at this time? It was unheard of to her. She began to wander, her mind filling with questions. The snow melted in a circle around her that only remained around her, the forest floor exposed around her. She heard the crying from a distance. The fox let out a howl, that echoed throughout the area.
The warm summer breeze blew gingerly through Beast's tail, who was in the form of a squirrel when he noticed a booming sound that came from a fox. He noticed a few feet away from the fox was a crying girl. Beast made his way for the girl but stopped the moment his paws felt the cold. He stepped back, walked in a quick circle before jumping over the season defying marker. His brown fur changed to white as he came over the white edge of snow. Beast quickly climbed up a tree that was close to the crying girl.
Yukiko looked up, hearing the howl. Her eyes were the softest of blue but were red from crying. She scooted farther into the cave, scared. She pulled her knees to her chest, sniffing as the air around the winter area became colder. She swallowed as she wiped her eyes. She let the ice grow on the ground around her, a little frightened.
Her ears twitched about as she searched for the source of the crying. Soon she sensed the presence of several beings that stood out. She noticed Beast, her ears perking as her howl now changed to chatters. She was on alert as always, noticing that he was looking at something. Tilting her head, she then felt a build up of magic coming from the small cave. Blinking, she fell silent and slowly approached the cave entrance, the snow melting around her with every step. However oddly, the snow returned to the spots once she moved on. At the entrance of the cave she stood, golden eyes beaming, curiously.
Beast saw the glance of the fox and jumped down from the tree. Before beast hit the ground he was in the form of a white snow fox. Beast followed close behind careful not to scare the girl.
Yukiko spotted the red fox and sniffed again. She blinked, noticing the fox could hear her. She pressed her back to the wall of the cave." P-please d-don't hurt me." She said, her voice thick from crying. She was scared so the ice beside the cave grew, spreading out like crystals.
The fox did not flinch as she looked at Beast, her tail flicking elegantly. Looking back at the girl, she stepped into the cave, the green continuing to grow at her feet with each step, even on stone. Kyo approached slowly and soon stopped not far in front of the girl but at a comfortable distance. The fox chattered quietly to the girl to see how she would respond, as she crouched.
Yukiko blinked." H-how can you see me? N-no one can." She looked at the fox. Reaching out a hand, she showed the fox she wasn't going to hurt it. She was a bit more happy than before now that a living creature could see her.
Kyo seemed cautious at first, moving slightly away from her hand. Leaning forward, she smelled the girl's hand. Now it was clear to her. She was a spirit of the forest, something somewhat associated with her being a forest spirit herself. The fox touched her cold nose the girl's hand and sat down. She decided not to reveal herself quite yet. Instead she gave the girl a look, questioning why she was crying.
Beast moved closer to Kyo and the girl. He went up next to Kyo and put his head down to show he was no threat. Beast's white fur was collecting frost before he shook it off, but seconds later the frost was back. He looked at the girl deep in her eyes.
Yukiko blinked." I'm lonely. No one can see me or hear me." She looked down." I guess that's what happens when your a Winter Spirit." She sighed, placing her head on her knees. Her blue eyes seemed dull and clouded.
Kyo seemed unsure what to do at first. After a couple moments, she neared the girl and pressed her head against the girl's in a comforting way. The fox snuffed and pawed at the girl, flicking her tail around.
Beast got closer to the girl. He lied down in front of her facing her and let out a small wince.
Yukiko blinked when the animals came closer." You two are pretty friendly." She petted Kyo's head softly before reaching to touch Beast's head, a little worried from the wince.
Beast shook off some of his frost, then remained perfectly still when he felt Yukiko's hand. He used his powers to thicken his fur to adjust to the cold, especially the spot where the winter spirit's hand was. Beast relaxed, and without saying a word, looked at Kyo in a way that said "Who's going first?"
Kyo looked at Beast a moment. She didn't quite know what his look meant at first but soon realized he was asking who would reveal themselves first. She paused before shrugging slightly, unsure of whether or not she should reveal herself to the little spirit.
Yukiko blinked as she watched them. She understood the looks and seemed very confused.
Kyo sighed and looked to the little spirit, a small fox smile, curling across the fox's face. With a small flash of light, the red fox had transformed into a dark burgundy furred with white socks and tip of her tail dipped in white. Where should have been a fox face was now a white mask with black markings and a red nose. Her sleek, elegant eyes now lacked a pupil, leaving the black eyes of the mask empty. Her ears flickered as she spoke. "Of course we can see you." however the lips on the 'mask' did not move and her voice carried softly throughout the cave. Behind the fox's body, her four tails were now on display, spread out evenly behind her.
Beast smiled and connected to both the Yukiko and Kyo telepathically. "Well i guess it's my turn." He Stood on all fours. He went into an attack stance and gave a smirk. A small line traces his body from the tip of his nose to his tail. As the line passed his canine teeth the changed into small chompers, and his short pointed ear turned long, heavy and curved. His slick streamline body turned small and puffy, and his long whipping tail morphed into a small cotton ball like puff. As the white energy infused line passed the tip of his tail it vanished, and Beast was now a snow white rabbit. He transformed again multiple times, but with a much faster pace this time. He turned into a deer, a weasel, then back to a fox with ice white fur. He telepathically communicated again "All animals are connected with nature, and the spirits of nature. I cannot see you in human form, so i must stay an animal."
