Deirdre's expression became rather surprised as she realized the weird feeling she was getting had been true. "You can't be serious!" she said, having not first believed that Enzo had found someone else. "I know." Enzo growled before he stared at Dave a moment. "We have to get him out of here Enzo..." Deirdre suggested. It was obvious that she wasn't like Enzo. Sure, she was armed and 'dangerous' but she wasn't as ruthless and strict as Enzo. The taller male scoffed at Deirdre. "No. We can't. If we let him go, he could alert the authorities!" Deirdre fell silent for a moment. "...Enzo, we can't drag a kid around with us. He could get hurt, killed or even jeopardize the mission!" "And we'll probably get fired if we let him go. Do you want everything you have to disappear? Your friends? You know you won't be able to speak to them if you're fired." Enzo was now standing over Deirdre in an intimidating manner. She simply stared up at him with an angered expression. "I'm not having an innocent harmed, Enzo. Besides if he tells the authorities, we'll be for one; long gone and he'll be put in the bingo book and I doubt he wants that." Deirdre looked at Dave for a moment before her eyes reverted to Enzo's. The two seemed to stand there for a minute, giving each other the death stare.

Dave looked back and forth between Enzo to Deirdre. Not really knowing what to do, he stepped away from Enzo slightly, having developed a slight fear for the man. However, at that point, Dave saw something moving in the shadows of a corridor. A man was creeping closer with a knife in his hand. Suddenly he leaped forward, and neither Enzo nor Deirdre had seen him. Against his own nature, Dave acted. He jumped towards Deirdre and grabbed the pistol still holstered on her belt, then aimed and shot the man through the chest.

A horrified look spread over his face as he just realized what he had done. He had taken a gun out of free will, and shot a man. He killed. He took a life. The reality of this seeped into his brain and he just couldn't shake it off. He started shuddering and dropped the pistol, that fell harmlessly to the floor. He staggered back and hit the wall behind him, falling to the ground. There he lay, unable to tear his eyes away from the man he had killed.

The two swung in the direction Dave rolled. "H-Hey! What're you--" she was cut off as her jaw dropped. The two watched as the man fell to the floor after being shot by Dave. By Dave. The two just stood there in silence as Dave had fallen to the ground in tears. Deirdre turned to Enzo, who's expression also seemed surprised but soon they heard more voices from down the corridor. Enzo immediately brushed passed Deirdre and speed walked past Dave to the end of their corridor, taking out his pistol. "Deal with the kid. We gotta get moving." Deirdre glared at him as he moved on. The woman looked at Dave as she leaned down to pick up the pistol. "...Kid, you OK?" Bah, what was she saying, obviously the kid wasn't OK. He had just taken a life for the first time. She wasn't terribly sure what to say to him either. She had never dealt with this kind of situation before.

Before long, she could hear shots going off from down the corridor. Flinching, Deirdre then reached to take Dave by the wrist. "Forget about it, kid! I have to get you out of here!" Deirdre didn't mean to sound demanding but it was obvious she cared enough, to not let him get killed.

Dave, still shocked by the sudden events and his first kill, was numb. There were absolutely no thoughts going through his mind as he allowed Deirdre to pick him up from the ground. His brain didn't even record the shooting going on between Enzo and whoever was shooting back at them. All he could think of while Deirdre dragged him through the corridors was the man lying dead on the ground and the gun that had been clutched in his hand, along with the finger that pulled the trigger.

Deirdre saw how Dave looked. His expression said it all to her. He was probably going to have trouble dealing with this, bah she wished he never followed them. Things would've went more smoothly but then again when does anything ever go right? Deirdre soon reached the entrance. However, the metal door was shut. Skidding to a stop, she opened up her com. "Rapture! We have to get this door open!" she said with haste. Rapture tried to log into the system but was soon met with a bunch of error messages. "Ah! I can't! The system is locked down!" the gun shots drew nearer meaning, Enzo must've been coming, expecting the door to be open. Deirdre bit her lip before turning around. "Damn it all!" she cursed as she would take hold of Dave once more. "We're gonna have to try and find another way!" Enzo soon met up with them and Deirdre motioned for him to follow.

Suddenly near the end of the hall they had taken, it seemed that the guards had caught up. Enzo began to shoot, taking cover behind a wall. Deirdre would push Dave into cover and follow after. "Rapture! Find us a spot to hide for a while. This is getting out of hand." "The ventilation system is large enough and is off the grid. However gases run through it that might be harmful, get your gas masks on, there should be an entrance in a maintenance room just down the corridor to your left, Deirdre." The woman swung in the direction and once again took Dave, Enzo following close behind. With a swift kick, she took down the door to the maintenance room. The vent was in the corner of the room. It didn't take long for her to get the vent open. Enzo went up first and Deirdre turned to Dave. He still seemed to be dazed. "Hey!" she said snapping her fingers in his face and giving him a firm nudge and gentle slap on the cheek. "C'mon, kid! We gotta move." She held out a gas mask.

Dave suddenly snapped out of his dazed state, and all at once everything was bashing in on him again. What had happened, the death of the guard, Enzo shooting and killing even more. He saw the gasmask and the vent. His hand just moved by itself, taking the mask and putting it on, then crawling into the vent.

Deirdre slipped on her own mask as Dave crawled up, foot steps approaching. She thought fast, drawing a grenade and tossing it down the hallway before leaping up into the vents and shutting it. The vent was now dark and the gas mask's lens turned to night vision automatically. "Ok. Enzo. We need to get moving. If we reach our objective then we can also find the controls to disable the lock down." Enzo nodded before looking at Dave. "You better not get in our way, child." he growled as he then brought up his map and Rapture spoke through their head sets. "Deirdre, give the kid a head set." Nodding, Deirdre, took out a spare headset and handed it to Dave. "C'mon let's move." she said before they began to speed walk through the vents, Enzo leading the way. As they followed Enzo, Deirdre turned to Dave. "You got a name, huh?" she asked.

DAve looked back at her for a second, thinking on wether or not he should reply. He then decided he really didn't have a choice anymore. He might as well tell them. "Dave." he just replied. He didn't tell her his second name.

Deirdre nodded. "I'm Deirdre, that's Enzo... Well that's pretty obvious by now." she said as Enzo turned slightly and snarled. "Quit the chat." he skid to a stop, Deirdre soon stopping also. There were two ways they could go. "We'll have to split up." he turned to Deirdre. "You're taking the kid, I've got something, I need to take care of." Immediately Deirdre glared at him as she brought up the map onto her holo. "Alright then... Dave?" she looked to him as Enzo then disappeared down the opposite vent from them. She was silent for a moment as she looked between Dave and the map. A couple moments later, she dug around in her pack and took out her spare pistol. "...You think you'd be OK, handling this...?" she seemed reluctant to have him handling, mostly because she was concerned.

Dave almost immediately shook his head. At this moment, it'd be a cold day in hell when he accepted another gun. Especially if it was the same gun he held before, the one that took a life. "No." he simply replied.

Deirdre understood completely and nodded, latching the spare on her belt. "Alright..." she continued to scan the map before turning, about to start off towards the objective. But she hesitated a moment, giving Dave a look. He couldn't see it but she really felt bad about dragging him into this. She cleared her throat before motioning for him to follow. They would begin by running down the vent and soon reach a junction. She'd wait for Dave before turning to the right to leap down a level, landing swiftly and easily with a roll.

Dave followed effortlessly. He wouldn't take the gun, but since he just recognized Deirdre was nothing like the man that had saved him earlier, he decided to at least try to not get in the way. He jumped down and rolled with ease, immediately standing again to follow Deirdre wherever she'd lead him.

The woman made sure he made it down safely, rather surprised he had been able to follow her. She supposed that he did parkour for fun...Heh, just like her when she was younger. Deirdre turned and began to head down the vent. It would take a while before suddenly she stopped above a vent cover in the floor that had light beaming through the filter. Kneeling down, she closed one eye and looked through the filter into the room below. No one seemed to be there and the vent chamber ended about here, so she knew that they were where she intended to go. Carefully, she opened the vent and filter, allowing Dave to leap down. She soon dropped down, putting the vent cover and filter back on. The woman removed her gas mask with a small breath. The room they had landed in was a scientist's office. It wasn't extremely close to the objective but it was close enough. She then paced over to the computer, beginning to dig through some files. "Warn me if you hear any guards coming." she said, pointing to the door beside the large window that was covered with blinds.

Dave dropped down into the room, and let out a sigh of obvious relief at the discovery that no one was there. He nodded at her and walked to the doorway, pulling it slightly ajar so he could listen for any guards coming. So far there was no one haeding their way.

Deirdre dug through the computer, soon a couple bleeps came from the computer and she smiled slightly. "Got it. OK, now lets go." she walked over to the door and peered down the hallway. No one was there. They probably were still looking for them in the floors above them. "Stay close." she whispered as she took out her pistol and held it in front of her as she began to walk down the hallway, her footsteps barely making a noise. The woman then looked at the map, heading down the larger corridor that looked like it had rooms full of water tanks on either side through the windows.

Dave followed her closely behind, sometimes looking back to make sure no-one was following, but they seemed to be lucky. But at that point, Dave's eye caught movement in its corners, and he quickly looked through a corridor that branched off of theirs, only to see a shadowy silhouette disappear again.
"Deirdre." he whispered. "I don't know if he knows about us... But there's someone walking the corridor parallel to ours."

Deirdre instantly looked down the corridor, Dave mentioned. She didn't see him but she believed Dave. "If he was a guard, he should be heading up a level." However there wasn't no guarantee he wouldn't come back. Deirdre saw the next entrance into the large chambers with water tanks and grasped the door wheel. Spinning it, she pushed the heavier door open and held it open for Dave. "We'll take a detour through here. They usually stick to the halls." She motioned for Dave to follow as she looked at the tanks. The large white room was dark, the only light present coming from the panels keeping the water tanks lit up. At least she assumed that it was water. It looked discolored and somewhat murky and she couldn't see what was inside. "Don't touch anything. We don't know what's in these tanks." she said hinting about the control panel in front of each separate tank. The tanks were spread out enough for the large room to look like a dark maze lit up by different colors.

Dave followed her into the room. he was just about to feel how one of the tanks felt when Deirdre told him not to touch anything. He swiftly retracted his hand again - just in time.

A man equipped in a full agile but highly protective armor suit was shadowing their movements. The soft and subtle lights his suit emitted blended in with the lights from the room perfectly. He saw two figures moving through.
"I've got two moving through the boiler room."
"Roger that. Engage if need be, but maintain a low profile." the response came into his headset.
"Roger."

One advantage about his helmet was that he had to activate his sound system for his voice to be emitted into the air outside. He could talk as loud as he could right now and neither Deirdre nor Dave would hear it.

Deirdre stepped forward, pistol ready to shoot in case. She didn't bother to put on her night vision goggles as she let the door close. "I think we'll be OK as long we aren't too loud or set anything off." she looked up ahead, getting a strange feeling from the room. She didn't like it. The woman peeked around the corner and gazed down the long stretch of tanks. There were platforms above that were able to access the tanks. She brushed past on and began following her tracking system through the maze of tanks. Looking back, she made sure Dave was following. It was silent in the room other then their quiet footsteps and the quiet sound of water. Occasionally, the sound of water boiling and bubbling.

By that time, the strange man had gotten in front of the two. They were heading for the same door he needed, which formed a problem. He couldn't be allowed to get slowed down by needing to keep behind them, yet then again if he moved in front of them now they might catch up and shoot him in the back.

Still keeping the duo for enemies, he hid behind a tank's socket which gave him complete cover from sight. He waited for both of them to draw closer, until they were one tank down the lane. He then activated his voice emitter and set it to echo, to give a creepy effect that wouldn't allow the duo approaching him to loacate his position.

"Stop right there. I advise you both to drop any weapons and hold your position." the voice echoed across the room and had an eerie touch to it.
