Deirdre turned, weapon aimed behind them. No one was there. She turned around towards the direction of the door and yelled out as she looked above them on the platforms, but there seemed to be no one. "Or what?" she called out with a straight face obviously not seeming to take the 'creepy' bait. They were wasting time. She swore if this was a simple guard trying to intimidate them, she was going to burst into laughter then shoot him down.

Alain frowned. He was sure he recognized that voice from somewhere. He switched off the echo effect. He tortured his mind to recall that voice until suddenly the image of a redhead flashed up in his head. His eyes widened. "Deirdre?" He got up and walked from behind the pillar, no longer hiding himself. Both his hands were up, assault rifle now held in one hand. As he walked, his helmet clicked back in a variety of machine-like sounds and clicks, revealing a man with an army cut brown hair and a stubble spread over his cheek and chin. "Is that you?"

"Who's asking?" She held the gun pointed at Alain for a moment before he reached her and she was able to see his face. Lowering her gun, her eyes widened a bit as she recognized him. "Alain?! Wha..." she looked him over. If he hadn't taken off his helmet she probably would've shot him. "Oh my god. I haven't seen you in several years! Why are you here?!"

Alain nodded at her initial response. "Am I glad you're still alive. After getting split up in that warzone, I wasn't sure I'd see anyone from the squad again!" he shook his head. "In fact, you're the first one I've found." he raised his arm holding the gun up behind his back and held the gun against the back of his suit. Its sensors picked up the weapon and tiny claws came out to hold it in place. He let his hands fall to his side again. "I'm on a search and destroy/assassination mission. Some big shot back in the city hired me for it."

Dave looked from Alain to Deirdre and back to Alain as the man stepped out. He was glad he didn't have a gun in his hand, else his instincts might've taken over again. he wasn't entirely sure whether to trust the man, so he remained behind Deirdre for now, trusting more on her reflexes than his own.

"Yeah, glad to see you too. Man, I haven't thought about that mission in forever. We should get a beer once this is done." she chuckled as she then saw Dave behind her. "Search and Destroy mission, huh? What are you 'destroying'?" she asked rather curious. Be it at that, if he was after the same thing as her then they were going to have a problem and she sure as hell didn't want to shoot Alain.

"The whole freaking place." he replied as he shrugged. "My contractor wants it gone. Also I have to kill a man named Jason Edwards. Ever heard of him?"

She nodded. "Good. We aren't after the same thing. I didn't want to have to shoot you... Well not me, I wouldn't even if I had to. My partner though would've shot you dead." she paused, cringing when she thought about Enzo. "I'm here to recover something called 'Project XVI' in the facility. I think that the man, Jason Edwards was the one running the operations for XVI." she then looked at Dave giving him a reassuring look. "Maybe we could help each other out." she smirked and put her hand out.

Alain reached his hand out for her to shake. "Just like old times?" he asked with a grin, quoting pretty much every possible action movie where old partners met up again.

She shook his hand with a chuckle, nudging him lightly before she looked down at her wrist com. Lifting it up she called up Rapture. "Rapture?" "Yo." "Patch my friend, Alain into our network." she smiled as Rapture seemed to sound confused. "Huh? Just how many people are you picking up now? First the kid and now another merc?!" Deirdre snorted and Rapture sighed. "Alright. Patching him in." She looked to Alain and smiled. "This is Rapture. After that mission, I had been promoted and assigned to a team. Rapture is the tech expert on the team, along with our explosives expert and quarter master, Na'ila... But enough with introductions. We need to get moving. We'll soon be meeting up with Enzo when we near the labs in the lower levels."

"Got it." Dave replied. He himself kept quiet to his employer about the newfound allies - he didn't want to recieve the command to "eliminate any witnesses." His helmet ckicked into place again and the blue light beamed up from where his eyes should be. His scanners activated, and he turned off his voice emitter now that he was patched into the headsets. "Alright, I'm set." he retrieved the assault rifle from his back and walked through the door, nudging it slightly ajar. He peered through and was relieved to see no-one just yet. "All clear." he said, and opened the door farther, just enough to move through. He arrived at a stairway that led down deeper into the complex. "Down here, let's go." he started moving down the stairs, silently and rifle at hand.

Deirdre would follow, making sure that Dave was following. She would start to whisper instead of talk now. "Dave. Don't be alarmed about him. He's alright, we can trust him." she patted him as she followed, with her pistol out in front of her. Suddenly, Enzo patched into the system again. "Where are you, damn it!? We need to hurry and get this done." he growled over the head set. Deirdre sighed and replied. "Yes. Yes. Sorry. We're nearing the rendezvous point soon." "Kid, get shot yet?" "No. I haven't let anyone touch him." she looked a bit shocked that Enzo seemed to expect he'd get shot, gripping her pistol, rather irritably, before continuing on with Alain and Dave.

Alain frowned as he turned to Deirdre. "Not a friendly fellow, is he now?" he just shook his head as they moved onward.

Dave just followed the both of them, still uncomfortable about Alain. After seeing Deirdre and Enzo in more or less normal outfits, The sudden appearance of what looked like a heavily armored supersoldier kinda scared him off. Just slightly. He kept on the look out. At least no one was watching anymore.

Deirdre turned off her headset and looked disgruntled. "Believe me. I've had several missions with him recently. I swear his douche-baggage gets worse every time I see him. I don't know if it's just around my team and I or if he's just letting his rank goes to his head." she growled lowly as she then saw looked down the next hallway. "I wouldn't suggest coming with us to the rendezvous point where Enzo is, Alain. Besides you do also have your own business to attend to." she looked rather concerned as she really didn't want Enzo to see Alain. She had sort of a bad feeling.

Alain nodded his head. "Let's just wrap this up then." he replied. He walked all the way down the spiraling stairs until they reached the pillar that held it and this whole collom up. he quickly put his gun behind his back, got a device from his belt and planted it onto the pillar. He pressed a few buttons and the signal on it turned red. "There. That was the last one. Now for our good friend mister Edwards." he said. He gave a nod at Deirdre as he hugged the wall and aimed his gun at the doorway at the end. It could open at anytime, and Alain was fully aware of it.

Deirdre then proceeded ahead, making sure Dave was with her. "See ya in a few. I'll keep my headset on so you can hear what's going on." she said to Alain as she then proceeded down the corridor. They would soon come upon a security check room that was right before what looked like a laboratory on lock down. Enzo stood in the room, waiting for them, tapping his boots lightly on the metal floor. Deirdre would open the door and lower her pistol as she entered. "About time you two showed up." he sounded irritated. "Let's get this over with. Is this the lab, where XVI is stored?" she asked the male who stood there with his arms crossed. He nodded as he then lowered his arms. "First though... I want to discuss something with you, two first." Deirdre eyed him a moment, tapping her pistol with her finger. "What?" The male, slowly paced towards Deirdre and she tensed slightly. The tone of his voice changed almost into some sort of sadistic tone as he spoke. "I was wondering... about something." he paused, sticking his hands in his back pockets as he paced. "Are you interested in a promotion, Deirdre?"

Alain nodded his head as he walked further towards the door. He turned on the silencer function as he approached the door. Standing at it for a few seconds, he ripped the door open, entered shooting and closed it again. None of it all would've been heard except for on the headset, if Alain had been talking in it.

Dave sighed, somehow glad but on the other hand conflicted about Alain's leave from them. Now they had to face Enzo again, and Dave had a bad feeling about that man.
Not much later they entered the lab. The short conversation between Deirdre en Enzo followed, but Dave almost immediately heard the change of Enzo's tone and tensed, backing up slightly.

Deirdre narrowed her eyes at Enzo. If she was promoted, she'd obvious get better pay and possibly a new home but... She couldn't just leave her team behind like that for something like this. "Maybe... But what are you getting at?" she sensed the change in his tone however and her suspicion grew. If Dave tried to leave the room he'd probably find it impossible now. The door was now sealed shut. "Oh nothing in particular... I could get you that promotion for a certain... price." he reached out touched her hair. The woman froze and simply looked straight ahead, with a blank expression. The male now stood over her and smirked, whispering into her ear. He seemed to reach into his back pocket for something as he did. "If you can't pay for it however... you could always pay with your body. Just kill the boy and we'll have you can 'pay' for it right now." his whispers brimmed with that sadistic tone. However he happened to be speaking right into her ear with the head set. Her heart beat picked up and her expression became an angry one.

Alain's head shot up, alarmed at what he heard over his headset. Edwards was lying sprawled on the floor in front of him, dead. Just like all the bastards that tried hiding in here, unsuccessful.He left the bodies be. No use trying to hide the bodies, the place was gonna blow anyway. He reloaded his gun and ran back out through the door, readying his gun, he walked towards the door and tried it. Sealed. He cursed silently. He then got into another room next to the one Deirdre, Enzo and Dave were in. There was a one way window in it, Enzo would never see him. He muffled around as he looked for a switchboard. Eventually finding it, he pressed the override button and pulled a handle down. A loud clank in the door itself signaled the bar started sliding out of its lock. Alain paced back to the door and stood behind cover, waiting for the door to unlock completely so he could breach it.
