Once his host was asleep, the symbiote considered going out and feasting, against the host's wishes. It was growing hungry, the meager scraps it's host had been eating was not near enough. It was weak enough from fighting the disease, it needed to feast.
Feast.
FEAST
Turning from blanket to sinewy muscle, the symbiote engulfs its host in a entirely new body. It leaves Drew asleep, standing and taking a silent step towards the door. As it peeks outside, smelling decay and ... nature, it ponders exactly where it should hunt. The dead pose no threat to us, it tells itself. They will eventually die again, might as well eat them now.
But the disease itself could be a problem. Feasting on the flesh riddled with the exact thing it was fighting would be unwise. Perhaps just some poor animal in the forest will do, a deer or something. However, the symbiote did not know where any forests would be. It set off down the road, walking, jogging, and then sprinting like a madman.
A small pack of coyotes prowled the road, sniffing the remains of a dead horse that lay in a mangled pile of organs and gore. Venom saw the dogs before they saw him, and the hunger overtook any rational thought. He leaped at the nearest one, quickly ripping the head from its shoulders. Before the body hit the ground, it was already feasting on the next. In less than a minute, there were only bloodstains on the ground.
No meat. No fur. Not even bone. Everything edible had been engulfed, and the symbiote was sated.
It returned to the store, laying its host down gently on the shelf. He would not know, he may only feel a bit tired when he awoke. But they would both have the energy needed to keep walking, and when food ran out for his host, Venom would hunt.

Drew eventually opened his eyes, stretching. He yawned wide and sat up, reeling slightly. You'd think that if he had slept all night, he'd be less tired. But either way, he leaped from the shelf and crouched on the floor, picking up his stuff.
"Good morning, Hossst. Sssleep well?" the symbiote asks, a bit of mirth in its voice. It peeks its head out over Drew's shoulder, tongue bouncing. Slithering in a serpentine manner, it fastens itself around the hosts waist, taking on the form of a dark black leather belt, with a bright white dragon belt buckle.
He nodded. "Of course, parasite. What's up with you? You're acting crazy."
The symbiote cinches itself up uncomfortably tight, squeezing at Drew's waist. Suddenly, it's very hard to breathe.
"Do not call me parasite, host. If you would have paid attention in biology, a parasite -takes- things from its host. What have I taken from you? Have I -hurt- you yet? No? I didn't think sssssoo." it growls, before loosening up.
"And I am not acting crazy, hosssst. You are assssuming thingsss."

"You threatened to eat my organs. I call that parasitic." He grunted. "What do you want me to call you, then? Besides, you sound like you have a vendetta against me. Why?"
"Potato, potahto. I was motivating you." it says, giving a slight chuckle. As Drew asked the next two questions, it paused.
"My... old hosst. He called us Venom. We were Venom." it says, sadly. "But we losssst the hosst. We lossst him! Why would we want to lossse you, Drew? We need our hossst. They need ussss!"

"I need you to stop whining. If you're going to invade my body, at least don't complain. And eating my organs more made me want to find a way to get rid of you. That is a horrible way to motivate, trust me. Don't try it again."
The symbiote squirms, both angry and confused. "Yessss, that isss understandable." it replies, softly. "What do we do now?" it adds, wanting to do anything but sit and wait for the disease to overwhelm its defenses.
"Move higher up the mountain. I still feel that it is unsafe here. Besides, once we get far enough you can...hunt all you want. Because I'll actually be able to trust you to not eat any people."
The symbiote shifts slightly, murmuring, "We do not eat good people. We told him we wouldn't, so we don't. The dead, they are not people anymore. They are animals. But we do not eat them, either. Not good for the hossst."
After a moment, it adds, "The mountainsss, yesss. But... what about you? You are sssick. We have to cure the hossst."
After a moment, it adds, "The mountainsss, yesss. But... what about you? You are sssick. We have to cure the hossst."
"You can't cure me, Venom. This disease is...something that can never be cured. Otherwise, we'd still be safe and sound in the bunker, instead of here, fearing for our lives. But thanks for your concern."
"Do not be so sssure, Hossst. We have seen many thingsss in our time, many situations are not as dire asss they may ssseeem." the symbiote hisses, pausing for thought before adding, "We mussst find sssomething to help. I have analyzed the disssseassee, it issss exactly what we thought it would be. A virus, ssspreading from cell to cell. And every virus has a weakness. If it were to run out of cells to spread to, then it would die. Use up itssss fuel and die. But we cannot do that to the hossst."
It swirls quietly for a moment, thinking.
"We have an idea. The disease is in the hosst's blood, and a few limbs. We could remove all the blood, and the limbs, and replace the blood with uninfected blood. It would be risky, but we are sure it would work. There would be no disease in the hosst's body, so we would be cured. Cured!" it concludes, a warm feeling spreading through Drew's body.

"The infection is throughout my chest, you cannot remove that, Venom. I appreciate the idea, though. But I would rather not die. It is moving slowly, hopefully, there will be a cure before I fully turn." Drew sighed, leaning against something for a moment.
can I join please?
The symbiote falls silent, having run out of options. It allows Drew to rest for a moment, before saying, "Then we have to move, and find the cure. There mussst be something out there. Bunkerss, laboratoriesss, army basessss. Getting in will be easy, yesss. But finding what we are looking for will not. We know of a location of one of these, yess?"
Drew thought for a moment. "Most high-tech facilities, especially those dealing in viruses, are built in the cold mountains. It is tricky for a virus to live in such a frigid place, and few humans choose to reside here."
"They'll be easy to break into unless there are still survivors living in there. But even then, I have you. And I feel that you'll be exceedingly helpful in breaking in."

*matt had been preparing to start a training facility out of the gas station he was now sleeping in* there... *he finishes welding his metal wall about a good at least 16 feet from every corner of the gas station* oh I almost forgot *he runs in to the gas station and bring out 2 signs that say "24/7 military training center knock on gate for info" and hammers them on either side of an old metal gate he took off an urban house's backyard entrance he had put some extra chicken wire on top of it to match the height of the wall which was 10 feet on all sides* I can't believe it... it's finally done... *he talks to himself as he walks back inside and locks the gate behind him with and old bike lock he found near a school* now to set up the weapons and ammo from the bunker and make this place look at least a slight bit more presentable* ((BTW I'm so sorry for not being on recently school sucks and ill try to be on more often thanks for understanding))
