Good morning! (Or afternoon or evening, whenever you read this)

I have a question I'm not precisely sure how to ask to convey what I'm after as far as answers go. I've been playing on another site, but the pool of potential players is small and somewhat toxic, so I was considering bringing my game over here as a group (after the holidays, likely, because we're also having that problem getting active players).

So my question is ... I haven't really seen a lot of groups advertised, so what's the climate, I guess, on people joining groups at random? Do you scout groups and go this looks cool and join, or do people generally avoid groups unless they know people in them? Does the size put you off? Like if there's only three players, do you go oh no I am not interested in that? I just don't want to run into the same recruiting issue I'm already having with this cool thing I want to play with but ... no one to write with.

(for what it's worth, the game is a very open environment, not species or class restrictive so literally any existing character would fit. It's a sort of 'oh no you're trapped in a pocket reality and weird things are happening outside the safe city walls' choose your own adventure thing, if that helps sway answers at all).

Usually people advertise groups, i'm not sure how many people actually just browse groups at random tbh. There's so many of them, it's a little overwhelming.
Also i'm not entirely convinced the search function is that effective.

I know I personally will click a link if it looks interesting, but right now i'm finding I don't really have the time to devote to ANOTHER group. However, that's just me.
A lot of people DO have time.

If your shifting over from somewhere else it might be an idea to get things settled before you start recruiting again though, just to iron out all the hiccups and be aware that just because someone says they'll join, doesn't meant they will. I've had a fair few group rps just collapse due to players flaking out or taking too long to just get on with it.
So if you have stuff all like, set up and ready to go, there should be less risk of complete catastrophic collapse?

I was planning on advertising, once I was ready. I haven't swung it by all my players yet, and I know I'll lose at least one b/c she's allergic to forums. Ah well.

I'm well aware of flakes. There's plenty of those where I'm coming from. They apply, they join, they ... ... sit on their hands and stare into space until they get tossed out. It's just part of how things are.

I've got it all set up over here already. It'd just be a matter of fine-tuning the forums, I think, depending on what our needs wind up being.
