Urban fantasy is fantasy set in a city setting, while often in a modern setting this is not a requirement, it can be a futuristic or medieval one, too.

Modern fantasy is fantasy in a setting we would find recognizable in the here and now; modern tech, and if not set on earth, it possesses societies/worlds often based on real cultures and places.

Harry Potter is technically Modern Fantasy, a fantasy setting within the modern world of Great Britain.

The Dresden Files series, which as I understand typically takes place within a modern city, qualifies as both.

A setting in Victorian London that involves fairies, vampires, werewolves, or other supernatural creatures, would qualify as urban fantasy, but obviously not modern.

Then urban, maybe some modern. But thanks for the description, I feel like a noob to rp but I've been doing it for years.
