This Looking For RP topic is marked as closed, meaning it is no longer seeking new players.
A role play set in a cyberpunk universe that I have worked on as a side project for the past couple of years, (We Bleed Neon, or WBN for short) it having manifested itself in the form of short stories, RPs and lore throughout the years as it keeps getting ever bigger and more fleshed out all the way to the finest of details.
One of the three available spots is still open, and I am in search of one more player interested to join us in experiencing a story that delves into the concepts of transhumanism, virtual reality and corporatocracy. The plot could best be described as a “murder mystery” and themes such as action and horror are going to be present throughout the story. This is not a romance centered play, but such a thing is never written off the list since it does happen between characters from time to time. Nothing hot and heavy in the bedroom side though, that's not what we're looking for here.
You may bring any character of your choosing within the boundaries of realism, even if they are not strictly human. In case they are not already modern/sci-fi themed, we can surely work something out to integrate them seamlessly into the loop of things. Obviously, they cannot have things such as magic and the like, but those details regarding the character are to be discussed separately and eh, I am a leisurely host in most cases as long as it is nothing too game breaking.
Now, as far as skill sets go, I am looking for a player who strives to add onto the story themself rather than letting the Game Master and the other players do it all for them. Sure enough, the plot has a general narrative, but the way the story goes is all up to the players. You don’t need to write too much per post, but at least some level of showing interest would be greatly appreciated.
Rules in-game go as follows:
No metagaming or puppeteering. This means that you cannot use your real life knowledge as your characters knowledge nor can you take control of other persons character unless agreed upon.
Absolutely no godmodding. This means that your character can't simply kill someone off just like that, nor can they take a thousand bullets and live to tell about it. It's not very interesting way of playing and will make the scene very boring for others involved.
Things such as crude language IC are welcome and completely acceptable as long as it suits the character, but unnecessary vulgarity OOC should be avoided.
Where the rules end, common sense applies.
Lastly, as a little TL;DR, a sum-up of the themes as well as the requirements:
Themes: Cyberpunk/Sci-fi, Action, Horror, Mystery, Adventure (Some degree of mature-leaning themes are to be expected, so despite it not really being a concrete requirement, players 17 years of age and upward would likely get the most out of this.)
Requirements: At least slightly above rudimentary English skills, At the very least a paragraph or two per post preferred, Enough dedication to not to ditch the play right away without a solid reason, A friendly attitude
So, without further ado, I present to you:
The media is filled to the brim with bad news; famine, war, crime, accidents… all things that, for the most part, don’t really have an effect on our numb brains. “Oh.” people comment when the anchor tells of an oil rig explosion, and “Glad that’s not me!” when some poor bloke gets their bank account emptied and their life ruined after a careless night out.
People close the television and shut the screens of their mobile devices after these news, their minds already on something more relevant to their own life. They proceed to make a cup of coffee before catching the bus to work, not even considering the fact that they could be on the front page before the sun next sets.
It’s always a surprise. Fate, some even say.
Suddenly, the evening news gain an entirely new relevancy when they show the victims face on the TV and it’s somebody you know, somebody you share a heritage with, or perhaps even a matching set of wedding rings. Suddenly, it’s no longer “thirty nameless oil rig workers on the other side of the globe” but something very real and tangible.
Suddenly, you feel the cold grasp of reality finally breaking through the screen and taking a chokehold of you.
Such was the curious case with Amy Derringer, who had discovered something horrible in the living room of her family’s apartment. Something she did not want to see, something that nobody really deserved to see. The Northern Light Task Force of Grid 95 was already on the case when she arrived, the shattered living room window signifying of their way of entry.
The neon blue eyes of their vaguely feline-shaped helmets illuminated the otherwise nearly impenetrable dark as medical bags and other relevant apparatus were switching hands at a rapid pace. A small, purple trainer decorated with sparkly straps was slightly visible from underneath the clinical blanket.
It was the very last memory Amy had of her daughter.
The new line was not supposed to be hackable. It was supposed to be the most foolproof line of technology science had produced thus far, but here laid the first user of the new prototypes… glassy eyes, prostheses fried to a crisp. This would make Northern Light look bad in front of the masses, very bad… and someone knew it pretty damn well.
It had all come as a surprise to everyone... the victims friends, relatives... Amy. Fate, as some would say… except that this time someone, somewhere, had found a way to control its course.

On very, very, rare occasions there may be unexplained, POSSIBLY supernatural events. Minor "environmental" magic. Perhaps implies the existence of a deity or supernatural entity. Or perhaps it's just tricks?
Further future, perhaps visit mars or upload your brain
More combat than not. The setting may be at war, and the characters will likely get involved whether or not they seek it out.
Details: Freeform, paragraphs required, long-term RP partner preferred.
Man, this sounds good! Are you still looking for a partner?
Yes, you're the first one to reply aside from those who have reserved a spot in advance, I'll PM you and we can discuss the details!
For those who were interested but didn't get a chance, I will hit an update here later down the line in case something didn't work out and we are still in need of a player.
