HOW TO JOIN
In 1000 words or less, and in at least 200 words, tell me how RP has affected your life, or had an impact on you. This can include anything from experiences, partners, characters, or even stories! I will let you know if everything looks good with your entry, and you will be entered into the raffle.
The winner will be chosen via random number generator. I would love to do it based off of whose response was the most heartfelt, but I just don't have the time to judge entries alone.
LOCKED UNTIL 10 PARTICIPANTS: ART TOMBOLA
When unlocked, the following raffle will become available to everyone: not just people joining for the tablet. This means yes, if you have a tablet, you can join this raffle! Once this is available, please specify which raffle you are joining- yes, you may join both. The previous entry requirement still stands: you must write your explanation of how RP has affected your life to qualify.
Winner will receive one full-body, fully rendered piece from me with the character of their choice. If shipment is paid, I will ship you a print sized to your specifications.

Roleplaying has created wonderful memories for me since I was at least fourteen. The very first story I ever had the courage to join molded my abilities to write, to learn and to see the world I was put in so clearly. It set me behind a new pair of eyes and to walk on feet that I was not born with. A personality that was on a different spectrum far away from my own. I felt joy as my character lived as if I was just watching her. She made her own decisions and lived life according to how she was born and sometimes in ways that were not; just as we do in our own lives. I remember the excitement of getting on my computer, out of breath as I ran to the house from the bus. I was barely able to hit the power button in my haste to see if my writing partner was on.
I will never forget my first story, and I often wish I could go back with the lessons and betterment of my writing abilities today to see how much further- how much grander the roleplay could have been. Now writing has a new meaning, but always the same feeling as it had before. It helps bring me from the real life and it also helps boost my creativity. My art has improved because I have learned that the people, animals, and objects are not just pictures from pencil and paper or otherwise. It is a representation of a character of my own design and in the created world it/they are just as real as myself. Each taking a piece of me and developing it into a whole. It is a blessing to have this in my life. To share with others something that would otherwise be a lonely person writing a book that would have never ended. We only have to play our part and watch the beauty unfold from another.

My interest in writing has existed since I was a child in elementary school. Writing stories about legendary heroes that followed the format of the comics that my grandfather had stored away in his home. He gave them to me when I was old enough to appreciate them, and I was in love with the idea behind these sorts of stories. I followed in the footsteps of the late Stan Lee, and started writing my own comics about heroes of my very own. Though I hardly ever shared these tales with anyone outside of my family, and I showed them as little as I could. When my family bought a computer, I made my first yahoo account so I could play Runescape. In those days it was the best way to escape from the real world into a great fantasy realm. There it was roleplay servers and meeting people from all over the country who had the same drive. Weeks of stock trading, and fishing for lobsters gave me the money to play the roles of many a character. Who's stories I wrote out in a notebook that I kept to myself. When I was in middle school, I learned of the works of Tolkien and Martin. Doing my best to read such things, but adults kept me away from the Song of Ice and Fire, and the extravagant detail of Tolkien bored me. So instead I started to write my own tales, baseing many of my early stories off the works of Bram Stoker, and Mary Shelley. Playing games like Final Fantasy over the years gave me a vocabulary that was above most of my classmates, and it was easy to find an english teacher that was interested in fantasy writing. It wasn't until I was in High School that I finally read those greater stories, and with them found the great tales of the Norse and Greeks. Following this I fell into the Vibrant world of D&D. Ever since I've been designing entire worlds and cultures for use in the game, often working for hours on backstories of characters that didn't matter. All for the chance that my players might run into them. Assuming the roles of some of the most kind peasants, and the most terrible rulers. It gave me great perspective for my writing, and did nothing more than increase my skill and drive to write.
After graduating I would find this website.... A lovely place full of lovely people... An environment that fuels the creative minds of thousands of folks. Bringing together such wonderful story tellers, and some even greater listeners. Not just writers, but artists and actors gather here as well. It was here that I met a woman, who's name I won't disclose. She answered a story post by chance that I had written 2 years ago in October. Through that story post, we started Rping together, and after a week I had her in tears. Ever since we've been talking to each other everyday, and had an rp running constantly. Sometimes two or three at a time. I don't think I ever would have found this woman if it wasn't for this place, and I don't think I would be the man that I am today without her. If you're reading this, you know who you are. You know I care so very much about you, and I hope that someday we can be together. That little lady happens to be a fantastic artist, and I'd love to see the things she can create with the right tools. This is for her.

I'm not entering, but this is a really awesome giveaway and I think some people on my friends list might be interested in participating! So I'm just signal boosting with this post. Thank you!

I'd like to enter both if that's okay? Anyway, RP has affected me most importantly in the areas of writing, art, and of characterization. Before RP, I never had reason to write or improve my art besides just wanting to... But after RP, it made me get more serious about those three things, and each improved greatly, to a point where I now have a job as an illustrator (which is why I'm entering, because right now I'm using a glitchy, crashy iPad) and have a future in writing. I owe all of that to my patient RP partners and friends, who help shape my characters and writing in the same why drawing tutorials shape your art style: You take bits and pieces of the things you love to make something wholly yours. My writing has gone from awkward, stiff, and full of inhibition to a weird comedy-gothic-fluid style that I wouldn't change for anything! Thank you all my RP partners, you've created something that I can be proud of at last . I tend to be very down on myself, but writing is the one thing I have a hard time knocking myself on because the style is always changing and evolving, getting better.
Another way RP has helped my writing is by giving me the ability to write a final paper in 4 hours. But that's not something I'm supposed to admit, huh? I have a couple more final papers to use that trick on, both due tomorrow, both I have not started yet. So thank y'all for that ability again. Insert thumbs up here.

I have always had a passion for writing and art, and I've been practicing my art for years, and I've never had the luxury of having a tablet. This is totally awesome. Good luck to everyone! As for how rp has effected me, it has helped me to further grow as a writer. Before rp, I wasn't really that good of a writer. I could put a ton of dialogue out, but I lacked with descriptions, and grammar. I'm doing a lot better nowadays, able to send multi-para, sometimes novella replies if I go crazy. Writing is something I've always loved since I was very young. I started writing my first short stories at the young age of seven, but I've come a long way since those days that's for sure! I always use rps to help inspire my art and help me continue grinding against pencil and paper until I get things just right!
Rping has also helped me in my real life as well, not many that don't know me, wouldn't know how lonely it can be to not really have real life friends that you can talk too, and the few I do have we can't often meet out due to fiancial issues at times, or simply not having the time due to my job as a caregiver. So the freedom of rping gives me relief from the stress I feel at home, the stress I feel at my job, it helps me relax. It makes me feel like there are people out there that want to know me, that want to see just what I'm capable of, and I've made such wonderful friends. I treasure them all, no matter how far away they might be. Even meeting someone that has become rather special to me, names won't mentioned, but they know who they are.

For as long as I can remember I've always been an artist, whether that art be in the form of writing, drawing, or crafting. But that doesn't mean I've always been a good one. You see, I have a bad habit. And that habit is not finishing the stories that I write whether it be a solo piece or an RP. I don't know what it is or why it happens but I call it quits fairly quickly, only getting a page or two finished before I stop and cast whatever I'm doing aside, forgetting all about it within a couple of days. But ever since I've joined RPR and began seriously roleplaying I have greatly improved in that area as well as others. Throughout my few short months here on the site I have had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful writers who challenge me, make me push myself to limits that I haven't explored. My response lengths have lengthened considerably, writing has become more pleasant to read and everything from developing characters to setting a scene and acting it out has improved majorly and I even came out of my shell all thanks to those who stuck it out with me. I can't express enough gratitude to those I've came into contact with enough for inspiring me to become better at everything to do with RP, whether we are still in contact or not. I appreciated, and still do, every one of you.
Creativity is a wonderful thing in all of its forms and if you think about it isn't exactly easy to get into the creative mood let alone to actually execute what you had imagined on either paper or screen successfully. It takes courage to put ideas out there and risk them being criticized, misunderstood, or even disliked but that's just the name of the game, isn't it? I would love nothing more than to illustrate RP scenes, draw my characters myself and not use face claims and upload my creations for everyone's viewing pleasure. But traditional drawing plus crappy camera quality doesn't often equal a good picture. That bums me out and inhibits my creativity a bit. But I don't let that get me down. Art is a way for me to escape from it all. Drawing excites me, writing relaxes (both sometimes frustrate) and each one is equally a part of me as much as the color of my eyes or the shape of my nose and always will be with me, to relax, to comfort, to vent and most importantly to share my art with those who will appreciate it for what it is. Creativity.
For a few years now I have dreamed of owning a drawing tablet, that dream put on the back burner thanks to finances. This is a wonderful opportunity and I would of course love to win one. Even if I don't win it though I will smile wide for whoever does and wish them the best of luck with it. Thank you nineforalostgod for the chance on behalf of everybody and I wish everyone good luck!

Let me tell you about RP, and more particularly, online RP, and how it has impacted my life. There were some movies being made of some books that were a passion of mine since high school. I was curious about these movies and so I joined a few online communities at the time. For me at that time, RP was something we did over the table with the D&D books so this whole world of online RP was new. I quickly got into writing with others on a forum, and some great spontaneous stories were created between us total strangers on the internet.
It was the start of a long, and on a few occasions, rocky, experience in writing RP stories. These tales are many and varied, as are the people I have written with. The years, or dare I say, decades, have been filled with some awesome writing and I have met so many awesome people through this medium on many a website, of which RP Repository is the latest.
I could get into some of the crazier details of it all, but will pass for now publicly (believe me, there is some epic sh… stuff). Should I be accepted in this contest and should I win this fine prize that nineforalostgod is offering up, I will see to it that it will be put to good use. I do not live in the USA, but I have a USA mailing address that I use regularly (love my brother). Alternatively, I may, with the required permissions, have the prize forwarded on my behalf to someone who is quite deserving of such a gift and will use it to its fullest potential.
Thank you nineforalostgod for this great gift opportunity.

I thank my friend from middle school for bringing me into this world. It was text chat with dice rolls like here, but a lot more simpler, like one or two sentences going back and forth. I rped as Daigo Kazama from Rival Schools, the video game. She was the veteran showing me the ropes, playing as a super chill fairy, but if you messed with her the wrong way, she’d drop an Ultima spell on your entire family. Seriously wth Laura.
We fought cyborg werewolves. Teamed up with a cosmic samurai to whack evangelion type angels with buses and cars. Drank dragon urine and spit it out in a flame to incinerate a horde of zombies.
It was complete and utter ridiculousness. A wild crash course into imaginative creativity I never thought possible. While we lost touch, I kept the spirit of our adventures going. Traveling from site to site, growing and learning, but mostly in pursuit of that wild thrill of collaborating.
RPing also brought out an artistic side to me. Before hunting Pinterest for images became a thing, I drew my characters, which ultimately got me into the habit of doodling. I’m always inspired by the fine work fellow RPRs commission here. Digital art has always been a lane of creativity I’ve been meaning to explore, as I’m sure is the case for most applicants here (if they haven’t already). Either way, it’s very cool of you to be giving something like this away. Happy Holidays!

I have been roleplaying for the better part of my life. It started when I was in middle school after I found my friend (we will call J) who introduced me to the world. We had notebooks we would pass back and forth between classes crafting a story and our characters. She was always into the drawing side of crafting a story and I still have several of our notebooks. I don't know where I would be if I didn't have roleplay as an out as it and J have helped me in so many ways.
My characters have changed so much over the years. Some replaced entirely. Yet in all my thirteen years of experience, one of the things that I love the most is that there is always something new to learn. Someone new to play with and craft a story. Thank you muchly for this opportunity.
