- I’m not really sure if this is the right topic I’ve put this topic in, but oh well
Hello! Recently, I’ve been thinking of doing some writing for myself to improve my skills and what not. I have a few ideas here and there, but I find it very difficult to find more and start actually writing without stopping in the middle of it and sitting there like “okay, what now?”
So, I thought I would ask here; how do you find inspiration for your writing and what do you do to motivate yourself to write?

Keep a journal on you and write as soon as you have an idea. From my personal experience I've found that it's easier and more rewarding to capture the moment when it happens. Did you wake up at 3am from a strange dream? Write about it there and then, you might surprise yourself with how vividly you describe it because you're still under the effects of how it made you feel. Mary Shelly wrote the basis for Frankenstein like this.
The most difficult way to write is to sit down, pick up a pen and tell yourself to begin. Your best writing is going to come when you feel like writing, so never try to force yourself. Just keep a notebook on you and record your thoughts as they happen. You'll be surprised at how fast it fills up!
