What are the reference sheets though?

Im not entirely sure how to explain it. Look up 'oc template' on google images and you should get your answer.

So something like...the basic information RPR asks you to help you start filling out one's first character when they decide to take advantage of it?

Sort of, yeah. Its a sheet which a person can continuously reference back to for very basic info and character design. Its usually a lot more visually appealing and the designs tend to be custom to fit a theme/personality of a character
