Heyo, so recently a fairly popular Rp app has gone down and It's left me with a dilemma. I played mostly Riddler there and because of the shut down I'm not without a place.

How does everyone feel about canon character pages/bios? Like, is that a thing that goes on here? Or is it best left for another site?

I'm really sorry to hear about your rp app. My last roleplay site before the RPR shut down too, and we all sort of got scattered to the wind, but luckily a good portion of us landed here. I hope you find some familiar faces in the crowd.

That aside, canon characters are totally 100% okay to make and play here! I suggest making the character you desire (Riddler, in this case) and post up an LFRP. There's always lurkers and people just waiting to jump at an opportunity to write and make new friends.

Yep. The only thing to keep in mind is that some creators have asked people not to write their characters (usually as a "no fan fiction request, but it counts the same). It's good to check really quick before you create the character! Assuming you mean The Riddler from Batman, though... I'm reasonably certain that's safe just from the nature of how those stories get told, but there's never any harm in checking to be sure! For something like that, it'd be the owning company you'd check with instead of looking up the preference of a single creator, although a single creator might be needed too for a specific version.

But you won't see any pitchforks. The absolutely worst that happens is the admin hears a claim from the creator/owner and the profile has to be removed. Or you have to change enough for it to be an "inspired by" instead of the original characters.

But yeah, we have some players who only play canon characters.

Yeah, I've seen plenty of people who RP canons around here--comic characters especially are popular, from what I've seen, though I've also seen anime characters, characters from games, and books, movies, etc.

It's fine to RP canons, as I do. This is a canon friendly RP site.
