I am starting a YouTube channel where I tell stories mainly based in the "Black and Gold" world I developed. It will be short stories being told with a picture on the screen.

I just did a test recording and I hate me voice. Is there a way to change my voice so that I don't cringe when I listen? Better yet, it would be mostly myself and my boyfriend doing the voices of the characters. Therefore, I need to be able to change the pitch and such of a voice without killing the entire recording.

Main Issue: I am poor and cannot afford all the fancy sound stuff.

Tips? Ideas? I just don't want the first story video to be horrendous. I am thinking of doing an intro video for my first official video on the channel, but I am not sure.

Has anyone used Adobe after affects to make videos? I am messing around, but I cannot get the audio to well.... be audio. It is playing, but I don't hear anything.
Hello.

I don't know anything about any of the sound stuff, but my advice, just based on being a YouTube watcher sometimes, is:

1. Yes, definitely do an intro of some kind where people can see you, because people want to see somebody's face. It's kind of like how people always say to put an image on a profile (on whichever platform). Visuals sell and people want to see you. It satisfies curiosity too. That's my thought on that. It's like a "behind the scenes," and everyone likes those, right?

2. Don't trust yourself to judge your voice and how good it sounds, because everyone thinks their voice sounds bad when it's recorded. Well, at least I do. I dont like to hear myself on voicemails and things like that. I cringe too. Opposite of you, I always think my voice sounds too low. Other people think I sound fine. So...I would say make a video, and then get input from people before trying to change your voice so that it's not your voice. That's my thought on that. Be yourself!

1) I am unsure if I have a camera recording app. I will have to look. However, I am unsure if showing my face will have anything to add to the stories. I will not be doing animations, rather I will have a picture in the background while the recording of the story being read and the sounds are playing.

2) I am unsure if my voice can really capture the feeling of the video topics. Heck, voicing Adelia is gonna be fun.

Fair enough! Haha hopefully someone will know how to do the adobe stuff then.

Also got an editor program the youtube ads showed me Supposed to easy to use, but will have to mess with it. It is the sound settings that I cannot seem to figure out.

The program is Filmora. Hoping it is easier to use.
I don't have anything to input on the editing front, but what I will say:

Everyone thinks their voice sounds weird / wrong when listening to it. It may take you a while to get used to it. It didn't take me long at all, but that's probably because I know why it sounds weird listening to it:

When you speak, you listen to your voice as it is internally, meaning that you hear it reverberate through your muscle and bone in you head before it gets to your ears. When you hear it back on recording, all that stuff that your voice has to go through isn't there, so you hear it as it actually is, which is really weird.

It takes a while to get used to it, but don't worry about other people thinking it sounds weird or anything. No one else ever really notices when watching lol
