What about your writing are you most proud of?
Too often in writers do we see them talking about how we believe our own writing is awful, when there is so much we are really good at doing with our writing. I want to bring out some positives in the community. I want you to look in to your own writing, look in to what makes you feel proud, what makes you feel good, and express that here! Tell everyone something about your own writing that you love.
Please use this thread to spread positivism and self love. Let us take a moment to ignore the negative ideas and thoughts we have about ourselves or our writing. I ask that you please don't write things such as; "I suck at writing in general," or "my writing is crap, but" or even "my writing isn't that good, however I like..." I want to see your POSITIVE notes about your own writing, not the negative criticisms.
If you are looking to ask for criticism or help and advice in some aspect or another along with your own positive enthusiasm about your writing, that's fine! However, please don't go looking to say you're 'totally crap' or 'never going to be good at' any kind of writing! There is nothing wrong with looking to be critiqued, but please don't use this thread to degrade yourself or any other writer.
What I am most proud of in my writing?
I am very proud of my ability to create details an describe a setting. I love spilling out scenery when I get the chance to really paint a picture. I do this with a passion as much as I do when speaking. I've often been complimented on my ability to describe something well enough that someone could easily picture what I was talking about or writing about. The compliments I have received have really made me realize that I'm definitely good at writing out details and descriptors.
I am also proud of how I write emotions. I love writing out character's feelings and thoughts, how they're processing a moment, and what their next thought is as well. It really gets me immersed into the stories I write, even if the other person's character can't feel what my character is feeling, I add in my ability to describe things with the emotions my character is feeling. I love writing out the body language, the tension in a shoulder, or the clench of jaw. The way someone's eyelids droop in that dopey love struck expression, or how rage causes some people's noses to crinkle and lips to really curl.
I love writing emotions and it's something I live to be able to do in all of my stories I write with everyone. Being able to write out detailed descriptions of emotions has also helped me process my own feelings in my own unique situations. I love it and appreciate it. I have done more research and learned more about body language, and speech patterns all thanks to my love of emotions.
I would have to say I am most proud of the level of thought and detail I put into every aspect of my characters, starting from just a picture, or a song, or a vague concept, which I then use to flesh out everything from their appearance, to their history, to their personality, and powers/skills (if applicable), etc. Each part kind of flowing into and feeding off one another in ways that reinforce one another in logical and sometimes subtle ways.
I am especially proud of being able to build a fairly complex personality, both strengths, and flaws--I tend to be most proud of the characters I make who have the most intricately detailed personalities.

Dude, that's awesome! I will have to go and read your character profiles. I too pride myself a bit on being able to really go in on the finest of details of what makes a person really tick. I love seeing other writers who put a grand amount of effort into their characters personalities!
Thanks
I only have two character atm and one of them isn't complete yet. Sometimes I wonder if I write too much, hahah, but...hey, better to be sure I know the character than flip flop everywhere trying to figure it out in the middle of roleplaying with someone and inflicting my uncertainty on them.
And I'll definitely have to go and read yours, too.

I'm most proud of my dialogue. I freaking love writing dialogue. In fact, I tend to get carried away with it outside of roleplay. Somehow, it makes the characters feel so much more alive. And honestly, I just live for character interaction, be it sad, a dramatic backstory coming to light, fighting banter, or jokes. I just love it.
Not sure how I'd describe my dialogue, but it's something I'm really proud of.

Hey that's awesome! I always find dialogue to be one of my favourite key elements for developing character relationships and characters themselves. While actions always speak louder than words, there still has always been the proper place for incredible dialogue!
Way to go!
I think I'm most proud of my worldbuilding abilities. I'm not the best at the geographical aspects of it, as my art and mapping skills could be better, but things like politics, history, culture, and all-around lore for the worlds and peoples I make up are some of my favorite things to write about. My crowning achievement is of course the varsit species, which I've written about extensively on my character Cchaaneh's profile and in my own personal writings, but I have a few other things I've done, including a couple of high fantasy settings and two alternate/future histories for Earth, that I'm proud of as well.

World building is not at all an easy task. My husband is a world builder and holy crap does he dedicate a lot of time to it. He spends at least 4 hours a day dedicating his time to building, altering, and adjusting everything to make sure it remains cohesive, explorable, and fun for everyone in the group. Not to mention, it's a huge responsibility. You're amazing for taking on the tasks and responsibilities. You should definitely be proud!
I always found it difficult to really build connected ideas in an entire set up for a world, so it's always super inspiring to see more people who can put their hard work in a neat and orderly fashion. Way to go for being inspiring too.
I hope you continue to have a whole bunch of fun building your world and exploring it through writing. It's an amazing thing to be doing!

After just giving Samson a read over, honestly? You do go into great details! You're focusing on great personality facets and it certainly shows. I have no doubts you have an awesome writing skill for these characters and there certainly isn't anywhere near too much information! Way to go, dude.
You should definitely be proud of your character building and writing skills. I often find it more difficult to spread my ideas on paper at times, but you seem to be doing it effortlessly. If it isn't effortless, then you certainly make it look that way.
Thanks again, glad you like it. It's not completely effortless, though admittedly when I force myself to sit down and work on a character the words usually seem to come as needed (though also usually with a lot of revising and refining as I go).
I haven't looked at all your characters, but I checked out a couple and I love the level of organization you have for their information, including the background on their worlds in the case of nonhuman races. I especially liked the concepts of Flightless (I looked at her actual name and was like there's no way I'm gonna be able to fully spell or pronounce that, hahah) and Tigris. Baiken, too, whom I imagine faces a lot of discrimination in most applicable settings, must be an interesting character to play.

Hmm..well... I am proud of the freedom it allows me to fly in. So much of my personal world can be...hectic.
But when i write and create i just feel so free and lighthearted, even more so when i write with others.

Um i think i really like how i write sometimes? Normally when i write somethings that's not RP i usually hardly ever use dialogue? It's a weird thing to be proud of but i am, i just love writing out the whats happening and what the characters are feeling and their actions . I really like to take the simple approach to writing, honestly children's books are my inspiration to do that. Just the simple storytelling approach really helps me to not overthink and i written best that way!
i also like how i can come up with so many cool characters! i have like some where between 40 or so or maybe more xD! Im not that good at making backstories but what im really good at is just coming up with the look and the names and the personalities. And color schemes!! I have so many characters all of them really need to be fleshed out and i have no idea where to start lol
I also taken up world building and its super fun! I went from making a single planet to making solar system to making a universe. I can come up
with pretty cool things sometimes. I also like that i can make a title for a story and go off of that titel? if that makes sense. With just a title my brain just thinks of so many things for a story its pretty neat .
tbh i have too many ideas and have no idea how to deal with them all lol. they just pile up!

That's awesome! I'm glad that you found such a good feeling in writing. It's hard to when the world isn't the fairest place to be in, so the fact that it gives you that joy and freedom is amazing.
My characters and my starters. When I roleplay I bring in other characters to enhance the roleplay. I also set up scenes ahead of time to bring in later in the story. I have a diverse line up of characters to fit my mood and ready for any kind of roleplay.
Proud of... Hmmm...
Now that I actually think of it, I'm pretty proud of a lot of things I do when I write.
My descriptions are pretty decent. I tend to try to cover everything from how each star looks to what shade of blue the sky is to the smallest details you could imagine, like a small snail on the floor or the cement in between bricks. I know sometimes I can get very carried away, and it tends to overwhelm a lot of my RP partners... (Not to mention annoys me to hell when I put all that effort in and only get a one liner back. ).
I also really enjoy how much I can think a character over. While it doesn't seem like it on her profiles (because frankly I don't dedicate as much time as I should into typing all their information out), just like my descriptions, I don't leave ahthkng unscaved. And if I do, it usually isn't on purpose and it's just one of many brain faultures. One of my resolutions this year was to dedicate more of my time into making my character profiles look amazing, and type out ALL of each... Nine (I think I have nine?) Character's information.
Overall, I think writing is one of my biggest skills. It's one of few things I actually find a lot of pride in

That's awesome! You should definitely be proud with what you've taken on. It's not always easy to admit when we like ourselves, because we tend to be our worst critiques. Way to go!
My favourite thing to write is interactions and feelings of characters too. It's an incredible feeling and I love the immersion feel.
Character creation is also something we should all be proud of ourselves for doing too. It's not a simple task for everyone, and the fact that there are people out there that love dedicating real amounts of time to putting their characters lives together is so awesome. Be super proud of doing that!

That's awesome! Descriptors are really what paint a picture for the readers. I try and stay on the lighter end for scene descriptors unless it feels pertinent to the moment in time. I can certainly relate to being carried away when it comes to first getting my starters going, but when I really get into the groove of a story I don't focus much on the scenery details. Instead I focus on the details of my character's body language or the response to someone elses' character body language.
If I may offer a tweeny bitty bit of advice, try and focus on what's more pertinent! It can help keep a good flow going, and maybe it won't come off as so overwhelming to your RP partners. However, you should always make sure that you're writing for you first and foremost. This is a hobby after all, and no one really needs to tell anyone else how to write something out. If perhaps you want to try and tone things down, it's always good to re-read your posts a few times to make sure they flow really well. This is something I find myself forgetting to do from time to time, but when I do I usually catch the biggest mistakes and also realize that some words didn't flow with each other as I had originally thought.
I know you're also into a bit of world building. For someone so young, that's amazing for you to get into! I hope it goes well for you.

Dude, that's awesome! Starters are definitely something I've had the experience of finding hard for other writers to do. I had a really tough time with them for quite awhile, because I always felt I was being too dramatic or I wasn't setting the mood quite right. However, I've started to overcome those obstacles, so I know it can definitely be a heck of a task to actually get into the groove of enjoying writing starters. That's awesome!

Yeah, and thank you! It's definitely proving to be a bit of a task, especially with the load of homework I just had dumped on me, (three months of art homework to catch up on since I just switched my GCSE subjects... Lord help me ) but I feel like I'm (sorta) getting somewhere with it. Maybe.
I always try to put a great amount of realism in my characters even if most of them are supernatural beings. I enjoy thinking about their backstories and making sure that there’s not any large loopholes or loose ties.
And plot twisssts. Reasonable ones that has subtly been foreshadowed throughout the story.*
**twists that doesn’t directly effect the other writer’s character without discussion. Cause those kinds of twists just suck.
