Griffon walked up and down the city's market place looking for supplies. His coin pouch clinked, not jingled, with the few coins he had with him. There was a small square shaped bulge in his pocket where his map resided. He spotted two things. A coin of old enchanted into a luck charm and an enchanted purification cup that cleanses the water in it. He stood at this interesting market, debating with himself which to buy.
Acer, dressed in his regular clothe, with a ragged brown cloak was next to griffin. He opened up his coin pouch and fished out four golden pieces, and held each one between his fingers. He patted the map in his pocket for luck before saying in a sly, cold, nonchalant voice, "I'll cut you a deal old timer." He tossed his coins on the table. "I'll give you four silver pieces for both, instead of eight silver pieces each?" The man shook his head and Acer narrowed his eyes. He swiped his gold coins back into hi bag and tossed eight silver coins on the table, and picked up the charm. He had luck on his side now.
Griffon looked at the man next to him. Well that makes things easier. Griffon put his own money on the table and smiled at the old man before taking the cup. He leaned over the the other buyer, "thanks for making the choice easy for me! I had a hard choice to make!"
((Bet cha didn't think I'd be such a chameleon huh? jk))
Acer scoffed at the man who took the other item he needed. He walked away after giving him a cold death stare, it was like he said, "Talk to me again, and I'll slice you in half." He kept walking and took out his map, which only hand the basic layout of the island he was going to, but not the path he needed to take. He kept walking and tried to think of a way to make things work.

Griffon called after him, "what was that for?! I'm goin through a desert I'm gonna need it if I wanna find the island of Arcaena!" He shrugged and turned back to the old man to start browsing again. He was debating how much he really needed the ring of salting... He wondered how this was ever come up with and who would spend the time to enchant something like that. Maybe a chef would need it. He turned his attention on a eternally burning torch.
Acer turned around, and grabbed him by the shoulder, "Hush your mouth!" He said this in a hostile whisper. "Don't mention such thing in public!"
He gave the man a look. "Everyone knows about Arcaena. It wouldn't be a legend otherwise. You know, the ancient city of magic! The birthplace of enchanting?" He talked to the man like he couldn't beleive he didn't know. Wether he actually did or not Griffon didn't care. "Anyways, I'm going there o an adventure, I already have the map to which island. Did you know there are over one hundred island I that area? Good thing this map says which one!" he pushed the man's hand off his shoulder ten extended his own. "Hi, I'm Griffon."
Acer looked at Griffon's hand like it was covered in mucus, "Good for you." He tapped held his map in his pocket. He had the other half of the map, but apparently Griffon didn't know his map wasn't complete. "I'm Acer, not that it's important."
He kept his hand out there. "So Acer the germaphobe? Interesting. Hey so if this cup is only 8 silver do you think it will actually work, Mr. Germaphobe?"
Acer folded his hands. "Acer, the guy who doesn't care to shake some goof's hand." He sighed, "And I don't know, but I need it anyway."
Griffin frowned for a second. "Well what do you need it for?" He inspected the cup as he spoke. This would be an interesting item and a life saver on his journeys if it works! He looked back at Acer for a reply.
Acer pulled out his map and brought it up to his face. "Why do you think?" He went to put the map back in his pocket.
"Well now I am fairly certain that you are travelling. Where ya traveling to stranger?" He put his hand out for a handshake again.
Acer ignored the handshake as if it wasn't even their. "The Island of Arcaena......nimrod."
"Thanks for the info, now shake the hand." Griffon became serious as he said this. He lost his smile.
Acer leaned in close, "I recommend you put you hand away......Unless you want to lose it."
Griffon set his jaw and spoke through gritted teeth. "Shake the hand. Shake it."
Acer smiled evilly, "Make me."
"Shake the gosh darn, mother loving hand or I swear I will throw this cup under the wheel of the next carriage I come to and you will never get it!" He looked Acer straight in the eyes. His look was cold as a light hearted story teller's look could get.
Acer could tell he was bluffing. So he turned around and started walking, before he said, "Fine. Then you won't get the treasure either?"
