I was thinking, i have a few characters that have ties to demons, or are demons themselves (Bael Sparhawk, Abalam, Kisuke). The problem is, Bael Sparhawk was my D&D characters of 6+ years now and is the demon god of the abyss, and is, naturally, insanely powerful. Kisuke, is a necromancer,/abyssalmancer (summons and controls demons) and has immense power. Abalam, is a balrog from LOTR trapped in a human body, and as such, as a lot of power. Now I'll finally get to the problem at hand. I cant play these characters as they really are because I feel like if I do, they take the fun away, because of their power and wide array of abilities. So, my questionnow is, does anyone have any characters of ûber strength that you would like to have in a RP? Of course, we would have to make their problems and challenges appropriate for them. For instance, why would Bael Sparhawk try and save a failing king? Why would he save a virgin maid about to be eaten by a dragon? See what I'm saying? Their problems would be of cataclysmic importance. Like the planes are on the verge of collapsing, and while Bael may not typicaly give a shit, but if his plane collapses, he loses his power. See what im saying? Maybe its just me, but I really want to use any of those characters to their full potential.
I only have one overpowering character, but as far as how and why I use her to make rp's work, it all depends on the situation.

So it all really depends on the situation.

Anyways, I do have a couple demon characters. If you want to rp sometime, Let me know.
I have a character named Night, and I've been playing him for about twelve years. If you read his story, you'll find he's rather all-powerful -- or at least has that potential.

For a while, this was an issue I felt I should remedy by either remaking him or at least powering him down.
Thing of it is -- it's never necessary. The trick to "dealing" with your overpowered character is to limit what you allow him to do. Sure, he could blink someone out of existence... but where's the fun in that? Whatever higher power you do or don't worship didn't blink out Hitler/Sadam/Osama, did s/he?
I have several characters that are pretty over powered. Several that are even full out gods because I had to create them for my 'verse. And of course I have demons. Its a small addiction of mine. Dusk is the only semi-god I have listed on RPR though. The others I don't have. To name a few...

Tzyriel: God of Physical Pain
Dardarian: God of Shadows
Menzo: God of Chaos
Sudara: Goddess of Soul and Immortality

And I'm prone to making characters on the spot if I think a plot sounds good and I could pull it off. :P I also have an VERY over powered female that I haven't played in YEARS to her full potential because frankly, you're right. She would take all the fun out of it. She's also my oldest character, meaning I made her when I was 11. A good 12 years ago. Let me know if you are interested in hearing more about anyone. :D
i got a half demon shapeshifter that has amazing power.. like able to turn into a 50 foot demon wolf

Good points to everyone. And pretty cool characters as well. I just want my characters to be able to use there cosmos bending powers whenever they want to...
Well Enya is pretty interesting, he father is the king of the demons ( would not mind someone playing him XD ) his names Dimisious but id always change it if i needed to

lol, if we were to do one, my character would have to be your daddy lol.
I don't have any gods. Just Rakshasa, who is practically imortal. Blow her up? She comes back together. Chop off her head? She gets grumpy and carries it a round a bit. Piss her off or steal her soul? She destroys worlds by messing with their planet's core.

She is fun to rp. ^-^

All my other characters are not as damage proof, but I am used to dealing with op characters, as in rem, so yeah. It's all about having fun.

Well, she could be a good balancing character for Bael...
MissElysee

I have several demons, you already know Dalli~
The Shadow (played anonymously)

Our power is a blessing and a curse, dearest...

It all depends on how you use it, and on whom.

Who is thus far my favorite
I have an Incubus based demon (Dameon) whom is fun to play :3
Along with a fire element based demon (Enya)
And finally a female half-demon, who is also a witch (Star)

I also have my amazon demon and her daughter.... her Daughter is more overpowering, though, she doesn't know how to control her powers (electromancy and telekenesis).

I have my shadow demon. She can possess others, become all shadowy- and will never die. Because you can kill her body, but not her essence. It will always come back.

And my new character who isn't a demon at all, but lizard, eats energy by pulling it to her- and gains any abilities the energy was taken from.

So many possibilities!! ~spaz~
Another good thing to remember is that "immortal" is not the same as "invincible".

Of course not. It just means they are stubborn and won't die. Not to mention persistent. But that depends on the character. Character gets beat up and passes out from blood loss, concussion, whatevs- then wakes up to go right back at it. WOOOoooo! XD

Kinda like how Bael is supposed to be. Sure, you can "Kill" him. But dont be suprised when he comes back and is even more pissed cause you "killed" him...

Oh yeah. Animosity central! Not to mention a viscous cycle if both parties are immortal. XD

i could be entertained for a while: Bael kills character, character gets up and kills Bael, who kills other character, who kill bael again...
