The blazing sun beat down on the village while it started it's second watch. Lucifer climbed the tower attached to the front gate with ease even though sweat trickled down his arms, making his palms slippery. He loved watching the horizon almost as much as fighting. Opon reaching the top he took off his shirt, revealing his hardened muscles underneath. He sat gingerly on the polished wooden floors and stared at the rolling hills below.

Kin kept her head down as her pure black Clydestale trotted toward the gates. Unlike the others, she wore dark colors on this sunny day. Her black cloak covered her face and she wore a dark brown ranger's uniform. She didn't dismount her stallion. She carefully guided the huge horse through the streets, her deep blue eyes looking frombeneath the hood.

Lucifers attention wavered as a figure wove its way thought the streets with apparent ease. It appeared taller then the rest of the villagers and was wearing dark skintight clothes. Lucifer knew it was his job to investigate all new villagers goin in and out of the gates, so he stood and stretched his limbs out while watching the figure ease its way through the busy street.

Kin swallowed as Shadow Strider's ears flicked behind her. She took a deep breath and let the tension out of her body. She didn't look around. She was only heading through the city to the more poor part since one of her friends lived there.

Lucifer slid down the ladder and approached one of the other guards. "Watch my tower for a moment." he said before whistling loudly. Sapphire galloped up the dirt streets towards him. Lucifer stroked his head and mounted Sapphire. "C'mon boy, follow that other horse." he whispered in Sapphire's ear, before they took off down the street.

Kin's ear twitched at the sound of the whistle. She bit her lip before rubbing Shadow's neck to calm him. She didn't glanced around. She remained calm and acted as if there was nothing to be worried about.

Lucifer followed the figure through the streets. He could tell by the way she tensed up, and the way the horse stiffened, that The person had heard him. Sapphire whined every couple of minutes with anxiety, the streets were getting more crowded and Sapphire was having trouble getting around the multiple people begging in the streets.

Kin stopped near an alley and dismounted. She walked into the alley and hid, waiting for him to follow or pass by.

Lucifer finally got through the crowed just in time to see the figure dart in an ally. He dismounted Sapphire and followed, Getting out L'Nota'man's Velve from his side, preparing for the worst.

Kin drew her bow and notched an arrow. She stepped out of her hidding place, the string pulled back and aimed at him." Wanna tell me why you were following me?" Her voice was strong, her deep blue eyes betraying nothing.

Lucifer glanced down at this sword, now level with her heart and spoke in a calm voice that didn't watch this scenario. "If you lower you weapon, I'll lower mine and we can talk about this rationally." he said looking straight into Kin's eyes.

Kin glared." How do I know you on't attack when I lower my weapon?" Her eyes kept looking into his, making sure he wasn't lying.

"We will both throw our weapons on the ground at the same time." he replied. "After all, if we have no trust in our neighbors, then we are utterly alone." he said lowering his weapon slightly.

Kin hesitated before loosening the bow string. She took the arrow out and put it in her quiver, keeping the bow at her side." This is how I'll keep my weapons."

Lucifer shrugged and put his sword away fully. "I've never seen you before, that is why I was following you. We have a couple of trouble makers in this village, and I was just making sure you were not another one." he finished, putting his hand out. "By the way, I'm Lucifer Elerlithe." he added.

Kin took a step back, watching him." I'm Kin. You do not need to know any more."

"Mmhk." he replied simply. "So, what ARE you doing in the worst part of town this late in the afternoon." he said gazing up at the darkening sky.

"Visiting a friend." She walked past him." Don't follow me again."

"Just making sure you weren't causing trouble." he said with a wink. Lucifer whistled loudly and Sapphire came galloping in the ally-way. "Good boy." he said to Sapphire while getting on his back. "I hope to see you some other time under different circumstances" he called over his shoulder to Kin as Sapphire galloped away.

Kin watched him leave before getting onto Shadow Strider. Later that night, Kin was out in the dark. She was breathing hard from running so much. A guard had recognized her and pursued her through the streets. She had finally lost him but not without getting her arm sliced open. She held the wound as she tried to catch her breath.
