Griffon picked his steps through the forest, heading towards a cave ahead. He thought it would make a good spot for lunch. He thought it was pretty enough at least. As he got closer the trees started to fade and left a semi circle of no trees around the slanted cave. It wasn't really a cave like one usually thinks of. It was slanted into the short cliff and daylight reached all the way to the short back of it. It was more like two converging over hangs.
So with this Griffon sat upon a tan rock, munching on some nuts and fruit, washing it down with water. It was a nice spot on a nice day and he was eating a nice meal. The only thing that was off about this spot was the constant but faint buzzing noise. It was as if there was a swarm of beese constantly flying in the distance. So Griffon went to check it out. It was not bees, but an interesting looking purple... thing. It seemed to blanket the inside of a whole in the cave surrounded by flowers. He wondered what was on the other side.

Autumn reported to work once again to watch the ever unchanging portal. I'm only stuck here because of one practical joke! jeeze these people over react! she did her usual check of the portal to the other world, but when she was flying around she sensed that something was going to be different today. She followed this sense to hide behind a tree for today's work and started planning what would happen if today could be different. Sure, she had this feeling everyday, but what else is one to do when watching a purple oval?
This thing interested Griffon. He looked around the clearing and gathered up some sticks and pebbles and a large stone. He put them all in a pile near the purple sheet and sat down. He threw the first pebble in and saw it dissapear. This sparked even more interest as he threw several more in after a few minutes of pondering. He sat there and thought for a few more minutes, then proceeded to pick up and dump all of the debree except the big rock down the portal. He threw that in after the last pebble fell.
Autumn was bored out of her mind and was counting the clouds when something hit her. Something had rolled from the portal and hit her foot. Well this is new! This pebble is not from Aeria that's for sure! Autumn knew everything there was to know about the environment in Aeria and this was new. Then another came and hit her again. She got up to investigate just in time to miss a huge pile of foreign objects fly from the portal. Hmm now what can I do with this? She picked up some of the items and smiled. She flew to the portal and dropped them in one at a time. She also decided to pick up a rock she had been drawing on with berries and threw that in as well to see what would come of it. This could be the day! This could be the day that something exiting and new happens! She could feel her heart rate increase as she flew her way back to her tree and waited for something more.
Griffon dove out of the way as a rock shot out of the portal and landed to the side of it. Interesting. Griffon had a sudden idea. He pulled paper and an ink pen out of his bag and wrote on it. "Hello" spoke the note. He rolled the pen with the ink in it and dropped it through.
Autumn excitedly picked up the note and read it hoping for something more than just a greeting. She tried to figure out the material used to make the note but couldn't figure it out. She went to her drawing supplies and wrote simply Come through hoping she would get a visitor and lobbed the note back through.
The note was not dodged. Griffon took a step back as the note popped up into his face. He cought it though and opened it up. He didn't see the pen or the ink well and wondered where it went. Sitting on the groun, Griffon pondered for a second. Then he picked up his bag, dropped it in, then went in after it. He barely fit through the purple thing.
Autumn was still behind her tree when the person came out of the portal. He was a strange person. Definitely not from here he doesn't even have wings! Man, will it be fun to mess with him!
Griffon came crashing out the other side of the portal and landed face first on the green grass. He moaned, then rolled over, then sat up and shook his head. He groaned a second and stood up. "That fricken hurt!" He stooped down to pick up his backpack and looked around curiously at the place he was now in.
She giggled softly. He seemed fun to her. She watched his eyes as he looked around the clearing. By now he probably had found the twisting river just beyond the trees and the road that lead to the town opposite of that. He seemed amazed. And he had every right to be, she thought, this place has everything! Mountains, rivers, hills, forests, flowers, lakes, and animals She watched him carefully, while never taking her eyes off of him she moved silently through the forest commanding the sticks not to break. As she was now behind him she flew up into the air and flew over him. He was still in the same place and didn't know she was there so she let her self get face to face with the stranger. "Howdy! Im Autumn! Whats your name?!" She asked with an excited child like tone.
Griffon nearly jumped out of his shoes when he heard the voice. "Who is here?" He didn't speak in a frightened voice, more-so a what-the-heck-voice. He looked about trying to find the voice but he could not find it! "Where are you?!" He realized he had placed his hand on the handle of his cutlass without knowing it and released his grip.
"well okay, don't answer my question then" She giggled and flew so that he can see him and smiled. "I scared you!" she said in a teasing voice. Autumn was very happy she succeeded.
Griffon looked at the little creature. "Griffon..." He said the name slowly as if not super sure what was going on. Then he thought a moment, "You did not! You just caught me off guard!"
"There it is I knew you would be fun I knew it! And I so did!" She giggled glad he wasn't mad at her. "What are you" She asked in a confused tone. "Ive never seen a pixie without wings before" She kept flying around the strange 'Griffon' to examine him more. "Or one so tall...Youre weeeiird" She said once she landed at his feet.
Griffon didn't even try spinning to keep looking at the creaure. He waited until it landed and thn looked down at the little thing and took a half step back, "I'm a story teller! Why are you so small... with wings?" Saying there was a hint of curiosity in the man's voice would be an understatement. "Are you a fairy? I've heard about fairies from stories before!"
"No, not a fairy, I'm a pixie! there's a difference! and im not small! you are just abnormally large. Im actually one of the tallest ones in my age group thank you very much!" She smiled immediately liking this storyteller. "And im not sure why I have wings, everybody does, they are pretty awesome!" She flew so that she could see its face, very quickly feeling very small and powerless "so if you are a story teller then you must be good at telling stories because its in your name! Soooo tell me a story, but uh sit down first"
The story teller looked around. "Why don't I take a look around first? How many of you are there?" He asked as he walked away from the portal towards a creek. "This place seems cool!" He ran his hand across a tree as he walked past it. "Very pretty, I could use this for a story!"
"About 1000, but only 100 of em matter. They are in charge. And quick question, would you like to stay here and see all of Aeria with me? It would be an adventure!" She said choosing her words carefully making sure not to let out that she was to bring him to the authorities, her voice had lost the perkiness it had before he started moving.
"Stay here? Stay here!? HA! There places to see and areas to explore!" He motioned for her to follow. "You can join me though if you wish! I think I can trust a fairy." He stopped for a second. "I almost forgot my pen and ink well!" He trotted back to the purple and picked them up, putting it in his pack and putting it back on. "Lets go!" He smiled and hauled butt to the stream and slid on his leg just soon enough so that his foot made the water ripple. His smile got even bigger. "Okay, that was cool!"
"hey wait right there story teller! im a PIXIE! A PIXIE get it right! and I gotta tell you something first. which by seeing you might make you more excited." She said as she flew to catch up with him. "You aren't supposed to be here, and if you come im supposed to give you to the authorities. Now, I don't want to do that so we have to run from them because they will follow us after they know im not at my post. You game?" She said "And meh that was alright, if you wanna see something cool watch this!" she moved her hands and the water followed wherever she willed it to go. She tried to get it to make a shape but it all splashed down back into the river. "Drats, im still working on it but ive almost got it!" She exclaimed
