I'm just curious to hear what kind of weapons and/or technology you've implemented in your sci-fi stories, roleplays, characters, whichever. Things that you feel set them apart from existing science-fiction universes.

If you can explain the science behind them, even better! I know exactly zero things about physics or chemistry, so I'll be thrilled either way.
Black Datura (played by Zelphyr)

This character was originally created for a setting that was like a cross between Star Wars and Final Fantasy. Naturally, laser swords were a thing.

But of course, the entire character was designed as something of a rebellion against the setting, which was... very black and white in its morality, and that bothered me. So I gave her a different version of the whole laser sword thing. She's got a shorter range, like if she had knives, and it's a pair. Rather than just "oh yeah, it's a beam that just inexplicably sticks out from the handle this exact, constant length with full power the whole length" I decided to make it a completed circuit. So instead of laser swords, she has little laser hoops (that can be connected into one big hoop if she wants to?). That she doesn't actually use much, because guns.
Well, in my main Sci-Fi setting, there's three different classes of guns, ballistic, laser, and Plasma. Ballistic guns fire bullets, or sometimes slag. Laser guns operate more like real world lasers, one continuous stream of light, though the light is crazy intense, kinda like when you reflect sunlight through a magnifying glass, though cranked up x10. Plasma guns operate like most plasma guns in other sci-fi works. They gotl ittle fuel cartridges instead of batteries or clips/magazines, and if used for too long over heat.
