I just had a really sweet desert and it got me thinking...

I used to have a really big sweet tooth when I was little. I loved every chocolate and sweet I could find, aside from liquorice. I could eat as many as I wanted and still feel okay afterwards. Still be bubbly, bouncy, and even more energetic.

And then I went through a period of a few months, where I wasn't eating much. I would only eat once every two - three days or so, and even then it was only half a/a full sandwich and that would be it for the next two days. (I don't know why this happened. I'm still trying to figure it out)

And ever since then, I've lost my sweet tooth.

I cannot eat more than four little squares of a chocolate bar without feeling sick. Melted chocolate makes me feel sick. Eating more than a single packet of haribos makes me feel sick.

And it's not a fast pace thing- even if I eat it slowly, I still feel sick to my stomach.

It just seems kinda weird is all. The change was so sudden that I wasn't sure whether it was just my taste changing or whether those few months of barely eating anything was the cause.

Anyway, does anybody here have a sweet tooth?
I am EXACTLY the same way. I still don’t eat much, but there was a period where I ate even less. After it I didn’t like sweets much anymore. ALTHOUGH there are rare occasions where I NEED sweets. Only fruity stuff though I’m not a chocolate guy

I sorta get the opposite. I get days where sweets + chocolate are absolutely revolting to me and even mentioning them makes me wanna puke
I've never been big on sweets to begin with, but I've noticed a similar change as I've gotten older. Not only am I less interested in sweets, but I seem to be less tolerant of them too. Gummy bears and skittles never fail to make me feel sick. I'm glad that my favorites (like starbursts and taffy) are still pretty tolerable, but it's still odd to me. As much as I love girl scout cookies, it takes me ages to finish a single box--which I guess is fine, cause I don't get many opportunities to buy them anymore. May as well make them last.

My step dad can finish a pack of oreos in a day so I'm not sure why some of us seem to grow intolerant of sweets while others don't.

Edit: Bacon mentioned something about being less interested in sweets after eating less. I wonder if that's part it? That would make a lot of sense in my case, at least. My bout with anorexia killed my interest in sweets and even after I recovered and started to love food again, I still found myself saying no to cakes and candy.
Probably what your experiencing is your body acclimating to the fact you are not feeding it sugar anymore. Basically, eating less sugar over time allows the body to slowly ween off of it and actually can fix any addiction or fixations on it. I had a period where I decided to try and do the Keto diet (zero sugar, High Fat, medium Protien, low Carb) and I went cold turkey on sugar when I started

I had shakes, vomited once or twice and was sweating madly, as my body was literally addicted to sugar, and cutting it off so suddenly caused my body to go into a spin.

I heard someone else here mention that they don't crave or even like sugar after not eating for some time. This is basically your body switching priorities on what you need to put in it. When you are well fed, sugar is like that really tasty icing on the cake, it's the little bit extra your body seeks when it isn't in "danger mode", but take away eating anything for a while, and the body will enter a state where sugar isn't the top priority (it replaces it with carbs and protien, actually, as those are the bare basics you need to function normally and retain body mass)
