Fial adjusted the one picture hanging on the wall, making it straight. A couple were still minimally crooked here and there, and he was going about and fixing them. He had just switched the sign on the door of his art shop to 'open'. There was no grand opening, no big party. Just the simple switch of a sign. Fial wasn't one for much attention, certainly not in a new place. The feminine elf made his way around the room, and once everything had been straightened he went to the counter and sat behind it, taking a sketchpad and a pencil. Ah, peace.

Jadis, being directed by some unknown force of narrative, walked into the shop, not even knowing what it was they sold there. As she opened the door, she instinctively looked around with caution, as she was taught to do. Shadows lurked everywhere, and one could never be too careful.

The only living being here seemed to be an elf, at whom Jadis smiled warmly.

"Hi~" She said gently.

Fial glanced up from his work as someone came in and he smiled. "Hello, miss! Anything I can help you with?" Even his voice was sweet and delicate, aiding to the constant misconception that he was a female. He stood up and gracefully walked over, extending his delicate hand with long fingers. "My name is Fial, I'm the store owner and the artist. Are you looking for anything particular, or just browsing?"

Looking around, Jadis decided that she had no clue what she was looking for.

"I suppose a suggestion wouldn't hurt?" Jadis asked sheepishly. Apparently this was an art store. The elf woman seemed nice- Jadis didn't need to worry about having a knife pressed to her neck here.

Fial smiled happily. "Oh, of course. But you have to tell me a little of what you like, if that's okay. What are some of your favorite things? If you tell me that, I can figure out what piece would be best!" He flitted around, looking at his paintings carefully and showing them to her in case one caught her eye while he waited for her answer.

Jadis nodded.

"Of course, right. Well, I do enjoy art that tells a story. Perhaps a piece with a tale to go with it?" She looked at the different paintings, wondering what she intended to do with one if she purchased it.

(Sorry, life got pretty busy since the school year ended.)

Fial smiled and immediately went to one picture. "Here we go. You'll like this one." It was two children standing on a hill. Their back was to the viewer, and they were looking out at the beautiful scene around them. The younger boy was holding the slightly older girl's hand. On the hill, there were footprints in the dirt. "It's based off a folktale, where a sister helped her brother to overcome his fears by playing a game with him until they got to the top of the hill."

Jadis' eyes lit up at the painting. She reached out a hand as if to lightly touch the painting, but then thought better of it.

"It's beautiful. This painting is so simple and the story behind it is pleasantly touching." The girl turned towards Fial.

"I think I might like to buy this piece." She smiled and pulled a pouch of gold from her side. "If you don't mind me asking- How did you get these paintings?"

(Lots of people have real lives, Grey! No worries. )

(Gah! Must have missed the notification of this, I'm super sorry! )

Fial smiled brightly. "Wonderful! I'm so glad you like it." He blushed when the question was posed, however, and quickly grew shy. "Oh, I um...well, I painted them." He held the painting shyly, and would hold out a free hand for the payment. Once she'd given it to him, he would hand the painting over. "If you'd like, I have some cloth to drape over it to keep it from getting damaged in travel."
