Falderan (played by Dreath)

The moon was high and gave a menacing glow more amethyst than white as it bathed the landscape in it's nighttime glow. Large mahogany trees sat next to oak trunks that were older than anyone could care remember sat about like thick pillars holding up an intricate canopy of branches and leaves that formed a thick ceiling of foliage over the area. Moonlight poked through gaps but little made it to the dank floor. Covered in leaves of all sizes and colours the muddy forest floor was a mess with vibrancy even at night. Large wide leaf ferns dotted the area and bugs buzzed about with a gentle cacophony of chirps and clicks. The sky was oddly clear tonight as the eerie glow of the moon radiated down the same unnatural feel.

The sounds of hurried feet on mud slopped up in the dark forest. Splash and slop were repeated as successive footsteps like running where heard. A figure wrapped in a dark cloak ran through the underbrush. They stood around five foot ten and kept their features covered. They panted and ran furiously narrowly avoiding trees, roots and shrubs. As they dodged through the trees running seemingly without direction and with minimal light in the dark the sounds of large thumps could be heard behind. Turning to catch a glimpse behind them the figure let out a horrified shriek and managed to slightly speed up. Fear and adrenaline powering them. Their feet were in worn sandals that nearly fell off their muddy feet. Worn and torn by this running and maybe other work. A growling sound came from behind them. It sounded like a deep growl like a cat but with a sound akin to clicking over the top. Behind them foliage rustled as a large figure rushed in pursuit.

Panting and purely filled with fear the figure notices a light in the distance. Breaking from the thick trees a sigh of relief escapes their lips for a moment as they see a small church covered in moss with a lamp on inside. A large double door was at the front and stain glass window above it. On it was a moss covered image of some form of humanoid holding a chalice of water in one hand and a staph looking like a fruit bearing branch in the other. The figure didn't have time to admire it though as they rush for the door. The sounds of their pursuer closing in. Running across the rather small clearing they slam on the door.
"Sanctuary! Please for the love Orior open up!" The voice cries. The voice was male and as the sound of rustling behind is heard the door opens and a man looking in his late sixties looks out. With a long grey beard and mossy green robes he was some form of druid. Once the door opens the panicked man pushes in and starts closing it.
"Who're you?" Asks the old druid priest as he looks out and his eyes show pure horror as he too helps close the door. As the push the door close and bring down the hinge mounted wooden panel lock on the neighboring door a large thud hits it. The running mans hood comes off revealing someone in their mid twenties with grey skin, short black hair and yellow eyes. He pants furiously. The priest looks out a gap in the side of the door and sees some large somewhat scaly form loosely appear in the pale purple moonlight. Clicking growls are heard as the form hisses and leaves. The priest turns to the man who's slumped beside a set of small bleachers as two other druids both looking in their mid to late forties come out. One male and one female. They stand next near the priest cautiously as he approaches the man. "Are you alright? Who're you?" He asks and before the man can respond he passes out. Feeling his arm the priest sees red in the dull grey clothing and realizing his hurt sends the other two off to fetch medical supplies. While in the distance an eerie clicking sound is heard sending a shiver down the priests spine.

Three days after the amethyst moon a caravan of travelers had moved through a nearby town. The town was rather small. Barely a hundred people in it and it mostly lived off lumber and some livestock and farm. A trading town that mainly got income form the inn and tavern. About ten kilometers out was a wagon pulled by a rather dimwitted looking mule. It's fur was a dirty brown and ears rather short looking more like a rabbits. Teeth were exposed out the front from retracted lips and it wasn't the most attractive steed. But it did it's job in pulling the cart which housed four travelers and a coachman. The coachman was a red haired gnome man of about forty. Wearing a dull grey shirt and trousers with old black boots showing their age he was a simple man in terms of clothing or maybe just poor. He sat up front keeping the mule moving with the reigns. In the back were the others. Four figures wearing fairly simple clothing. One was an Elven male in his early twenties, or the Elven equivalent with long black hair down to the base of his neck and slender features. His clothes were a dark blue shirt and dull grey slacks with a leather tunic over his shoulders. Next to him was Wolffolk man wearing a leather vest and short grey trousers while being barefoot. He was a grey wolf breed with a short snout and curious brown eyes. He played with a crossbow without it's clip and tweaked the string. On his vest were numerous contraptions of devices and tools. On his waist were some pouches and fist sized orbs with little strings out the top.

The other two figures were more simple. One was a silver haired woman with faintly blue skin and purple eyes. An Aasimar. She seemed about mid 20's and was more armored with some reinforced leather armour and cheap gauntlets on. On her waist was a sheath containing a shortened broadsword and on the other side three small viles of a green fluid. and a flask on her back. They all had this small flask somewhere on their bodies. The final member a Human male with short black hair and a blue bandanna that has seen some wear as it's dulled and torn. His clothing was similar to the Elves but he had no tunic and had leather gloves that went half way to his elbow. A black cloak covers his wrist and sits over his shoulders. Like the others he wore black boots. As this group sat back in the carriage the Gnome looked up to the sky that poked through the canopy and yelled back.
"We're gonna need to set up camp before it gets dark. Don't want to be setting up at night here. Will be a good spot to stop up ahead. I travel this road often." He says in a thick accent.
"Righto." The Elf says casually with a wave.

After another fifteen minutes the group comes to a fairly open area in the forest. The large open fields appear all over. From above likely looking like blotches in the seemingly endless tree landscape. Once they reach here the sun is about to start setting. This gives them several hours but the Gnome seems adamant about settling down now. Helping him set up the establish two rather simple tents with some cloth and sticks that were kept in the back of the wagon. A small chest the size of someones forearm is brought out and from it some small rations of bread and two rabbits are brought out and cooked over a simple yet useful fire. After about an hour the sun begins setting and the group sits up around the fire. The donkey grazing but tied to the wagon several feet away as it lazily bites at the wet grass.
A few hours later as a stormy night was rolling in, a lone traveler shivered as she traveled down the long overgrown forest path full of large gums, willows and oaks, her fur sticking out on end as the wind howled through the branches, she knew the storm would be a strong one and she cursed as her legs kept getting caught and scuffed by the sharp thorns in the underbrush, their toxins causing her skin to blister and sting, cobwebs tangled in her hair in her rush through the forest for shelter and were getting stuck in her mouth making her cough and splutter, her eyes stinging, her stomach growling in hunger as her food rations had run low 'I never should have left home' she murmured as she scanned the ever darkening bushscrub.

Snagging her tail she yelped as a small crack was heard and the end started to hang limp, as though the trees themselves were beginning to attack and swallow her, attempting to break her and her foot snagged under a root sending her tumbling down the nearby hill face, landing face first with a splat in mud 'oh great, now I'm sore, lost and covered in mud' she grumbled, her stomach joining in resonance 'hungry too... How much farther' she wanted to cry as she began pushing herself to her hands she spat out a glob of the mud, rubbing it from her eyes in discomfort, that was when she spotted light through the trees.

"Shelter.." she yelped in delight, picking herself up and doing her best to eliminate the smears of mud coating her, a new sense of motivation driving her faster through the underbrush as she swiped away at the vines with her sharpened fingers, making her way to the camp that had been set up, crying tears of joy she sank to her knees "Please.... Shelter... Food" she begged as her final burst of energy wore off the starvation and toil catching up to her in a fell sweep that left her out cold.

With the rustling and motion coming from the trees the Wolffolk quickly raised his crossbow, unloaded as he was tweaking it and pointed it at the new comer. The Aasimar quickly drew her blade and looked over as a dirty looking girl stumbles out and falls to her knees begging for food and shelter. The group blink curiously and look to each other. The Human man shrugging and the Gnome keeping a dagger in his belt ready. The Wolffolk sniffed the air and new comer before turning to the Elf.
"She's a mess." He sniffs again. "A pained stray or something?" He says a bit confused by her scent.
"Really she's a mess?" The Elf says with sarcastic shock. "Tell us something new Trenor." Trenor snorts and turns up his nose. "So who're you?" Asks the Elf as the girl passes out. Scrunching his face he give an annoyed snarl. "Larene help bring her over by the fire." The Elf says to which the Aasimar replies with a snort.
"Yes king Falderan." She says in an over the top and sarcastic tone.

Bringing the unconcious girl over the Gnome throws a small light bit of cloth over her body to act like a blanket. The group looked her over cautiously wondering what to do.
"She seems exhausted." Says Trenor.
"We noticed." Replies the Falderan with a roll of his eyes. The Wolffolk makes a mocking look by poking out his tongue and silently mouthing something to him. Standing over her Falderan holds up his hand which glows a soft yellow light as he gently moves it over her. "Doesn't feel injured. Seems like she's just exhausted." He says as he looks to his flask. unscrewing the lid he tips a small splash over her eyes. Barely half a mouthful to tease a response. The fire crackled as the air began to feel damper then before. Clouds rolled in and Trenor started to sit a little uncomfortably sensing the possible storm.
