Silindra just sat there wuth her hands shaking after she read theses notes. The nomads had told her that her mother had died because a freak landslide and swept her off a cliff. They never told her where however as they had had a close call soon afterward and decided that the area must be full of bad luck. But now....thanks to this find, she knew were her mother had died.
Maybe, just maybe, if she went to where her mother had died, she would find something that would explain why she was different, why she had a horn like all the others. It was decided, she needed to leave the city and she needed to do it now.
She quickly packed up all that she had and took special care with the book with the reports hidden inside. She then exited the room and locked it up again. She then head to the landlord's door and left behind a note explaining she had moved out. Silinidra didn't have to worry about payment as she had already paid the month's rent.
With that, the horned girl left the apartment and headed towards the city gates.

{My internet has not been functioning lately, but I have returned! I shall embark on the journey from exposition to rising action, at any cost.}
The boss bandit’s gaze is unwavering, his face frozen in a frown. His arms cross and his eyes close, his head absently nodding. “Then its settled.” He unfolds his arms and grabs the nearest bandit by the collar, bringing him closer, gruffly, “Have the men fetch their torches and weapons. Civilian clothing only, boy.” The startled bandit nods rapidly and the boss bandit shoves him away, “Get to it.”
The bandits soon move about, lighting torches and equipping their weapons, as well as changing their clothing, while the boss bandit turns to face the merchant once more, “The name’s Maffus. Maffus of the Touten.” Maffus then states, “You should go ahead and rally the merchants. We’ll wake up the locals here.” Maffus’s lips curl into a sneer of a smile, “It’s been a while since I could give my regards to the Hokuten.”

Tannis’s head turns, her cheek against the wall while her hazel gaze regards the gnoll lady, her curved lips curling into a soft smile. “Is that so?” A sound of amusement escapes Tannis’s throat, her head turning to gaze upwards at the affixed lighting, “I find both to be blinding.” A hmm, escapes Tannis’s throat, her tone questioning, when she looks over at the gnoll, “Tis’ my name, yes. What about it?” Tannis’s form pushed itself off the wall, ever so slightly, “Have you heard it somewhere, before?”
Three Hokuten knights had stopped outside the district between districts, and they stood relatively outside the horned girl’s door, in the middle of the street. One was smiling widely, his hands repeating the gesture that had pushed his recently told joke over the edge, sending the other two knights into jolly laughter.
The smiling knight looks over as a door opens, his eyebrow lifting as he fumbles for his torch, “Ah, hold, who goes…there? Here it is.” The knight lights the torch and holds it up, his smile still apparent, “It’s a bit late to be out and about, don’t you think, miss? These streets aren’t the safest, I’m afraid, especially not at night.”

"Just be wary of the Hokuten patrols sweeping through the city here at night. They've not a mind to stop even for the dark, Maffus!"
He proceeds to reveal a few daggers he has hidden away on him, then puts them back away in their hiding places and makes his way out. He reaches the area between the slums and the rather large merchant district, and what's this? Three Hokuten knights and a horned girl talking, it would seem. Best for the merchant to be as inconspicuous as he possibly can here, so he slows his pace to one more relaxed as he traverses the area. Besides, if they do decide to question him, he can tell them he was just on his way home, since it is on this path. He's even got an excuse for if they ask him why he's coming form the direction of the slums.

Silindra wasn't pleased to have been stopped by the Hokuten knights, but she was careful not to show it. Instead she replied to them with a pleasant, but sad voice. "Ah, but news about my family has forced my hand. It may very well be the last chance I'll have to visit my mother so please let me pass as every moment counts."
Silindra may have been telling the truth, but she carefully presented it as if her mother was dying instead of being already dead. After all even soldiers loved their mothers and may be more inclined to let her leave without any more interference.

Vannah arched an eyebrow at that part about finding both the dark and the light to be blinding. "Oh, a smart aleck are you? Ha ha to you too Red." She batted Tannis on the shoulder and smirked at her, showing her teeth. Well that was the last time she tried being intellectual around her if that was how she was going to act! Shaking her head, Vannah leaned against the wall and peered out the winow, looking for signs of trouble as Tannis asked her if she'd heard of her before. "Naw. I just got here a few days ago" she explained. "Just joined up with the clan when I got here looking for work. I don't know anyone in town yet." Well that was...mostly true anyway. The best lies usually were after all.
Maffus's lips form a sneer, "You don't need to tell me that. Now get." The boss bandit turns around while the other man leaves, his arms crossing across his chest-piece as he orders the other bandits about.
The Hokuten knights don't seem to notice the merchant as he passes behind them, though one does turn to glance his way, his face neutral before he turns back to the horned girl, his expression softening. The lead knight lowers his torch and his smile becomes smaller. "Hmm. That is dire news. I think it best that you should hurry to her side, then, and if you require an escort, I can lend one of my men to see you safely there."

Silindra was pleased that the Hokuten had swallowed the bait, but she definitely didn't need the prying eyes of a Hokuten soldier with her. So still keeping the pleasant, but sad voice, she replied with. "I appreciate the kind offer, but I must decline as the way I must travel is extremely treacherous to those who don't know the way. I will be staying for quite some time so I will not be able to guide my escort back. Thank you once again for the offer."
With that she quickly moved past the guards and out of the city.

((I've also been given control of the bandits for the duration of the next event, but I may give them back to Miss at any time, I'm kinda wary of how this'll turn out.))
Successfully past the possible roadblock, Mr. Black slinks off into the night, headed for the center of the merchant quarter. He smiled widely all the way through.
Several minutes later...
A massive din broke out in Dorter, easily heard at any point in the city. There seemed to be two primary sources - the merchant district, and the slums. There were pockets of rioting citizens in other places as well. Two massive crowds emerged and met between the slums and higher areas, combining to form a titanic crowd of angry, likely bloodthirsty citizens. The huge rioting crowd, with the bandits at the forefront and Mr. Black somewhere in the center, made it's way through the city, attacking all Hokuten they could see. This was going to be a long night.

Tannis’s hands were busy, one holding a hand-mirror, un-cracked and of a splendid make, while the other pulled her hair from her right hazel eye. “I am what I am.” Tannis’s curved lips curled into a soft smile, her form giving to the batting action, her hazel eyes drifting to the gnoll lady. Tannis’s left hand held the hand mirror away from her face as she turned her gaze upon the gnoll lady, “Is that so? I hear the clans are always looking for more to join them, likely because they have a very high loss rate.” A humorous sound escapes Tannis’s throat, but within the corner of her eye, she spots the hand mirror, and the reflected torches.
“We may have trouble tonight, after all.” Three torch bearing bandits were breaking off from the group to come closer to the poorer merchant section of the city, and they were growing closer to the coziest shop of them all, Mr. Lambert’s.

Unfortunately for the horned girl, the instigator did pass by earlier than she could leave. And his group gathering skills are strangely superb, it must be his elegant speaking skills and silver tongue.
The smiling knight’s eyebrow lifts and his expression changes to doubt, “Your mother doesn’t live near here, then? Strange. Well I am sure that the way to your mother house is much safer for you, little girl, than us heavily armored and armed knights of the Hokuten. We’ve traveled through the plains several times, but I shouldn’t have kept you for so long. Travel safely…”
The knight’s glance left the little girl and he took in the sight of many torch waving near the gates, and his face changes its expression to wonder, “What’s going on up there…”

Near the gates, the two opposing forces were battling it out. The few forces of the Hokuten had their swords drawn, shields ready, and the merchants had their daggers and torches. They cluttered up the city gate, making passage difficult through them. The Hokuten knights were not strangers to combat, but they were outnumbered. Mr. Black is near this group of bandits.

Vannah smirked wryly at the comment about how the clan too plenty of losses and was always looking for new members. "That would explain why there were no quality screenings...what happens, does everyone just quit when the going gets...hmm?" She blinked and her pointed ears pricked up, catching the sounds of ruckus in another part of the city. Her lips curved into a slight frown and she cocked her head. What on Ivalice was that? The sounds were getting louder, heading in their direction, and soon enough the murderous looking mob appeared in this district. "...So much for an easy night" she said, grinning wryly and slowly cracking her knuckles. Cracking her neck to the side, she walked back to the door way and stepped out on the porch as the three men broke off from the group to come dangerously close. She just watched them for now, upper lip lifting to growl slightly, putting off an air of menace, letting them know that perhaps this was the wrong shop to terrorise.

Tannis's form soon appears, her head leaning out to witness the three torch-bearing bandits. Her curved lips curl into a soft frown, "It seems that way, yes." Her head vanishes from sight, as she draws her sword, taking a step onto the porch as well, closing the door behind her with her left hand.
The three men carrying torches approach the shop, until one stops, rising his torch upwards. His expression changes to one of confusion, his ear next to the cackling fire, "Is that my torch? Do ya hear that?" The second man, wearing an eyepatch, rolls his other eye, "Nah, you're imaginain' it." The third man, a portly fellow, points towards the two female fighters, "Looks like we got ourselves a few dames...hope they taste good." All three of them pull out their daggers.

Well blast. The dolts had some courage to them. That or they were reckless. Grinning mirthlessly Vannah reached up and took hold of the hilt of her sword and drew it free of its sheath on her back. It was an ugly thing, unpolished and pretty hacked from use over the years but it would cut someone open just the same. "Alright, let's do this the hard way" she murmured, moving to stand beside Tannis so the pair could support each other.
She held her ground a moment longer, waiting for the three men to advance closer before she coiled her legs and sprang forward unexpectedly, her sword swinging with a sharp horizontal arc towards the nearest of the three...she cared not which.

((THIS IS ASSUMING I'M STILL ALLOWED CONTROL OVER MR. BLACK AT THIS POINT))
As the chaos unfolds, Mr. Black finds that he's wandered off too far into the crowds, and counting his lucky starts that nothing has killed him yet, decides it best to find an area away from the fighting; if he stays out here, no doubt a knight will come at him. Weaving his way through the crowd, the antagonistic merchant attempts to find a suitable hiding spot, perhaps a darkened alley. He finds one soon enough, but he figures his odds of making a getaway may be slim, and even then there may be even more unsavory company in there (this one's up to our lovely GM). He takes special note of the daggers he has stowed away on his person - in a pinch, they may be of great use, although one thing he won't be doing is trying to fight everyone he sees. No, these blades are for self defense only. With that, he makes his attempt to slink away into the night, so that he may observe in safety. Surely the bandits will understand!
((After all, I do believe I had him say we wouldn't be too good in a fight. Besides, they might not wanna lose their pay before they can get the full chunk of gil.))

Here's a sneak roll to see if he's successful in getting away
The Hokuten knights near the gates were outnumbered, steel on armor clashing and torches falling upon the ground. Merchants fell, but more were there to replace their fallen comrades. The knight’s backs neared the gates until one raises his shield, “Retreat, sound the retreat!” Another points to the alleyways, “To the alleys!” The knights back up into the alleyways, their shields in front of them, while the merchants raise their torches into the air, giving a roar of triumph, while some of the merchants were dragging their injured friends to safety.
Tannis’s hazel gaze turns her head to the left and to the right, before picking up a rock and hefting it into the air once. Turning her head back to face the three goons, her arm pulling back before launching the rock at the nearest one, who happened to be carrying the torch.
