"That's fine with me," Kori said, climbing on Bobby the mule.
Crysor nodded, tailing along behind them.
Crysor nodded, tailing along behind them.
"Let us head off." He paused. "We need to stop at the next town though to get some supplies and some rest."
"I like both things," Kori commented. "Maybe we can stop there for the night."
He nodded. "That is the best idea I have heard all day. The very best idea."
Kori smiled at him, feeling smart.
Crysor had flipped his hood up again and was following the two like a silent shadow, his large feet hardly making a sound on the smooth, hard packed dirt.

Falen tripped of a tree toot. "Gah!" He cried out. "My freaking wound is slowing me down too much!"
Crysor hauled him up by the back of his neck like he did to Kori earlier, seeming like a mother lion picking up her kittens by the scruffs of their necks.
Kori winced slightly. "Are you sure you can't ride?"
Kori winced slightly. "Are you sure you can't ride?"
He sighed. "Yeah, I guess I'll try to do this."
"Don't fall off," was all Kori said.
"Yeah thanks." He winced as he mounted. "I will try my best not to fall off."
"Falling off would be bad."
Crysor nodded, walking alongside Falen, ready to catch him if he started to fall.

"I can see the town up ahead." He pointed in the distance. "I can't see what it is called though."
Kori shrugged. "I dunno. I can't see that far."
Crysor could see that far, being an elf and all, but couldn't say.

"Trot ahead and you should be able to see it, we are getting closer."
"Okay." Kori did so, leaving Crysor and Falen behind.
"Do you see the town?" He again pointed at the town.
"Yeah," Kori called back over his shoulder. "Something about Calain. I think it's the name of the town."
"Calain did you say? Great! I have a few friends in this town!" He caught up to the hobbit and patted him on the back. "We may get free supplies and undisturbed rest!"
"Cool!" Kori said, crossing the bridge into town. He stopped Bobby short, however, as soon as they crossed over. "Oh no..."
Calain was in ruins. Houses appeared to have been burnt to the ground; marketplaces were torn and trampled; bones littered the streets like fallen leaves.
Crysor jerked back, the sight all too familiar for him. Kori just stared in shock at the devastation, his eyes wide.

"What is wron-" He dropped off of his horse. "No." He repeated it again. "No. No. NO!" He shot his pistol until it ran out. Seven times. He went on his knees and started to cry. "NOO!"
