Lief's mouth fell open, and he froze. He blinked at the response, slowly lowering his hand. Of all things beloved- "I.. I am so sorry-" He inhaled, awkwardly laughing. "I had no idea tat- Is embracing really.. I won't ask-"
The thief ruffled his hair in attempt to distract himself. "Ehm-" He clapped his hands together for the second time that evening, trying to draw his own attention. "Let's- It didn't happen?" He raised an eyebrow, flashing a weak grin.

Ember wanted to tilt her head in confusion at his question. It had happened so why was he- oh! It must be one of the non-questions tasks. "That which did happen did not happen.", she nodded in agreement with him, her pinkness slowly fading from her features.
Everything seemed so much more complicated here than at her House- other had so many other ways of things and it confused her. She hoped that she wouldn't insult anyone by accident with her ways. The thought worried her but she brushed it off. Ember expected for Liefthous to tell her if she was doing something wrong or bad without her knowledge.
The red-head stood there a moment before remembering the cup of drink the man gave to her, turning around and bending to get it, coming back up to blink gratefully at him. "Hydration.", she explained and took a gulp of it, forgetting to test for foulness.

He chuckled underneath his breath with yet another smile. He seemed to forget about his own drink, leaning back on his heels before he realized he had knocked it from its place. He swiftly turned around, blinking.
"Oh- By the name of Griyn's beard-" He sighed, slightly embarrassed. The thief laughed it off, bending down to pick up the cup. He had drank half, though the other half was lying upon the floor, reflecting the lights on the ceiling.
He looked back at Ember. "I'll.. go find a rag or somethin'. Make sure no one falls, alright? And don't get yourself killed." He lightly joked, turning his back and making his way to the bar once again, only he was in search of something to clean with, not beverages.

Ember nearly choked on her cup of drink at the sight of the man's own cup of drink spilling over the floor just behind him, taking it from her lips to look properly and went to put it down again. Hearing his words and task for her she nodded, completely serious and took her cup again. Moving herself to where the spill was she positioned herself on one side of it and her cup on the other to act as a marker almost. As she sat there her grey eyes narrowed. How could her life be in danger of watching a spill?
Lief glimpsed over his shoulder, snickering at her in a kind-ish, 'What is she doing?', way. He rolled his eyes, watching as a slender, lean man slipped past him. Eyes lit with mischief, he swiftly untied the knot to the rag on the man's belt. Lief guessed he was a worker or waiter, thinking it was strange to have a rag on you otherwise.
He skipped back to Ember, ducking to his left to avoid someone. "Well, someone would work well at the guard academy, hm?" Lief joked, sitting on one knee as he adjusted the rag in his grasp. He began scrubbing the floor, his brows furrowing slightly.

Ember turned her head to Liefthous when he spoke and blinked at the compliment. "Liefthous thinks I would be a good guard.", she repeated with pride seeping into her, straightening her back soon after.
As the man cleaned up the spill she looked around for something to help him with, but mentally pouted when she found nothing. Ember brought her knees to her chest and sat there feeling useless for a short time.

He shifted slightly, reaching for the spill on the opposite side of him. "..Perhaps." He looked up, meeting her eyes for a moment. He shrugged and continued cleaning, his eyes now focused on the floor. "Though, it's difficult to get in. Maybe with your sense of stubborness, you could make it past the gates."
He chuckled. "I'll admit, I was once a guard myself. Guard-in-training, apologies. I never.. admired having a high title nor rank." He smirked. "Though, if I hadn't lit the match, I could've been riding alongside Aleron-" He blinked, shaking the dream from his mind. He mumbled, rising to his feet as he thought the rest would have to dry. "Al was a friend of mine. I don't think you two have met? Oh, well. Perhaps that snob would be so caught up in his pride he wouldn't see you, hm?" He snickered, folding the rag with a small, joking roll of his eye.

Ember watched, still sad at being useless, but listened to Liefthous nonetheless with her full attention. Though he was talking about his previous times, he wasn't acting off, and it rid the red-head of her sad bout. A spoken name she never heard before surfaced and once she learned that said spoken named belonged to someone the man knew, she tried to remember it. At his comment towards the spoken name she waited before speaking, still on the ground, lost in thought.
"Liefthous is not worried about the Alrom knowing his location. Alrom is Liefthous' close.", the red-head pointed out and then thought about what she had heard. Someone knowing of the male's position would be dangerous and if he trusted someone with it, then he trusts them completely...at least that's what she thought.

Lief coughed, taken aback by her inquiriements. "My.. My close? As in partner?" Lief cleared his throat, turning away as he felt the skin along his cheekbones redden. "No.. No. Al isn't- he wouldn't even think 'bout something like that." He added in a murmur, "He's too caught up with women to give men a glimpse."
He laughed anxiously to cover his last said words, clearing his throat as he raised a fist to his mouth. "And I don't wish to know his location. I'm sure the captain can take care of himself." He stated, lowering his hand as he tucked the rag onto the loop of his belt.

Ember nodded, taking in the correction. "Alrom is not Liefthous' close.", and finally noticed that he stood up, quickly joining him after getting her cup of drink from the floor.
The woman looked at the man and his cup-less hands and decided to get him a replacement. Grey orbs blinking friendly at him, she walked past the male and towards where the table of many cups of drink was. Making sure to avoid the area where his drink spilled, not wanting to 'get herself killed' by it.

Lief watched her leave, exhaling silently. He folded his arms, drawing a short breath as he leaned somewhat against the wall. His mind quickly went over their conversation, searching for mistakes he had made.
He couldn't sense any, and he sighed in relief. His cheeks faded into their normal color, and he allowed his gaze to drift from face-to-face around the room. Perhaps he did wish to know where Aleron was, even if he refused to believe it.
He shook the idea from his head, lowering his gaze to the ground.

Ember made it to the table and put her own cup down, putting it in the corner as to not confuse it with any other cups of drink. The woman picked one that was empty and didn't smell of anything and looked at the drinks. She picked one from a bottle this time, the warm orange color looking more fun than other drink she originally had, hoping to surprise him with it. After pouring it and putting the bottle back, she grabbed both their cups of drinks, and made her way back to Liefthous.
Once she was close she blinked again and offered him his new cup.

The thief raised a brow, slowly taking the cup as he peered at it. "And this is..?" He was curious, a sly grin creasing his lips. He swayed his hand, speaking with a joking manner. "Look, I understand I must've frustrated or irritated you at least twice, but no need to poison the drinks, Ember." He chuckled, raising the glass slightly.
He would look back at her, his ears perked as another smile flickered across his face.

"I would never!", Ember exclaimed with a huff after, a mini glare sent his way before she continued, eyeing the drink. "I do not believe the Hall would offer poison for cup of drink.", she observed with little doubt in her own statement. The chances were low but she felt a tinge of worry. It didn't smell too foul when she poured it so...
"It is fine.", she stated again with a sip of her own drink.

He nodded, lifting his glass to his lips. He took a stip, half of him expecting to choke, and the other half deciding it was just any other drink.
He swallowed it, blinking. He was completely fine, though the drink was strong and he winced as it burned his throat. He laughed, lowering the cup. "I'll.. be fine without it." With an apologizing simper, he set the glass alongside his feet, careful not to knock it from its place. The foul taste was lingering in the back of his throat, and he scrunched his nose before returning to his usual smile.

Ember looked to Liefthous and to the drink a few times, a little disappointed that her surprise didn't work. "It does not taste good.", she concluded before snapping her head to the man in a slight panic. "It is not poisonous.", she got out quickly, just beginning to unravel herself from her lax position to make a break for something to help.
Lief looked up, waving his hands. "No- No. It's fine, Ember." He smiled weakly, leaning back. He shrugged and flipped his hair, exclaiming, "Toxic beverages don't mix well with my bloodline, and I'm afraid I've had one too many beforehand."
He nodded once and propped his heel against the wooden floor. The Hellion occasionally glimpsed at the woman, though he didn't speak. For he had nothing to say, to begin with.

Ember's eyes went wide. "Toxic.", she stated, nerves going a little haywire. She looked at Liefthous' brief smile and calm nature; questioning if it really was toxic. He didn't seem phased at all. The red-head picked up his cup of drink and still couldn't pick up any smell of foulness, causing even more confusion for the female.
With a small but silent huff, she took a sip as a test. It was...foul, but not the foul she was expecting nor she associated with some type of poison. Not wanting to spit it on herself or on Liefthous, she forced herself to drink it and it hurt her throat a fair bit. With a few 'pehs' she wiped her mouth with her arm, sticking her tongue out every now and then.

He blinked, his unfamiliar accent becoming more audible as he panicked. "Not, toxic-toxic, just.. What are they called..?" He tapped his foot, his eyes sparking as he recalled the word. "Alcohol! I'm not s'pposed to be drinking said toxics, but.." He shrugged once again.
He grinned as he watched her try the beverage, raising his brows as he recovered a normal accent. "It's not good, is it?" He was asking in general, since his demon-like senses seemed to get in the way of certain things.

Ember 'pahed' one more time, wincing from it. "It is not good...", she agreed with Liefthous and sent an almost accusing glare to the cup of drink and put it down to the ground, wanting to forget it. "To drink such a drink would be stupid for fun.", the red-head said with a mumble, looking at the cup as if she were trying to insult it. It took a while but...
"Liefthous did not sound like Liefthous.", the woman perked up and pointed out, turning to the man with a tilt of her head. Yes, she certain she heard a change from how he sounded- only for a short while.
