Lief inhaled sharply, managing to wear a grin. His ears lowered at the sound of the rough voice, and he nearly winced. He furrowed his brows slightly. "This place?" He blinked, repeating the question. His thoughts were flickering throughout his mind, and he sat in silence for a moment.
A smirk creased his lips before he spoke again. "This.. place.. could be so many things! A hangout, a theatre, an arena!" His voice would be dipped with enthusiasm, though he was attempting to be bothersome. "A magnificent place where anything can happen! Have you never been here before, Dear Friend?" The Hellion lifted a brow. "Oh! What you are missing out on! How wonderful this place is- it’s extraordinary!"
He was struggling not to laugh at himself, let alone cringe. The thief continued smiling brightly, holding out his hand for a supposed handshake with the stranger. "I am the one-and-only Lief Thous! And, who are you, Dear Friend?"

He was silent momentarily before nodding, a slight, gravelly chuckle emerging from underneath his robes. "Hm. That wasn't very informative, but thank you nonetheless. As for my name, well..." He trailed off, shaking his head. "I go by many names, and have forgotten my own. You can call me what you wish, Mr. Thous." He said, accepting the handshake, his hand wrapped in rags with a small patch of blackened, burnt skin uncovered they shook hands. He quickly released his hand and rewrapped the skin. "Sorry about that."
Ember blinked again and looked between the two men; bewildered at Liefthous' odd display of himself and the new comer's presence. At the sight of his burnt hands her interest peaked slightly, wondering of he had the same consequences as she did. Though her own consequence would make her skin pink and exposed rather than what would happen if someone was to touch fire. The woman kept her gaze switching from his hands to himself, occasionally to Liefthous- still confused at his tone of voice.
A small warning emerged in the back of his thoughts, but he was bothered of the fact the stranger didn’t seem annoyed. Well. That was a waste of energy. He thought, poking out his lips for a moment. "It’s perfectly fine, Dear Friend! It’s a pleasure to meet you!" He flashed another smile, lowering the amount of enthusiasm in his voice but managing to keep the joking tonality. "Can I call you that? Oh! And don’t bother calling me ‘Mr. Thous’. I haven’t earned that title." He chuckled.
He took this moment to study the stranger, whispering beneath his breath as he folded his hands again. He placed his hands over his mouth, narrowing his eye with a skeptical look. Sending another look to the ceiling, the thief seemed to be debating something.. with himself once again.

By the second time it was said, Ember finally heard it and it sent a shuttering stop to all thoughts in her head. No...it couldn't...could she have...? The red-head turned to ask Liefthous her question but saw that he was in the odd thinking stance again. Closing her mouth, she half pouted, silently worried for a mistake she may have made some time ago. In her sad bout she rested her head on top of her hand, looking to her seat partner from time to time. The stranger had said something concerning the man next to her and then he said it too...
...It was getting on her nerves a bit, but she kept quiet.

Snapping to his senses, Lief's attention shifted from the roof to the woman next to him. "Hm..?" He raised his brows. "Apologies. Were you going to say something, Ember..?" He would turn his head to face her, lowering his hands. He blinked a few times, casually staring between the ceiling, Ember, and the stranger. He was wondering if he had dazed for too long, and missed yet another statement of words. It was a.. 'talent' of his to zone out, usually ignoring others and focusing on his thoughts.
He straightened his posture and rolled his shoulders back, his eye fluttering as he regained his center of attention.

Ember turned back to the man, distress livid in her eyes but she tried to keep herself calm. "Your...your spoken name is not Liefthous...it is not of like how I say it.", she stumbled out slightly. There was an excessive amount of guilt she was feeling at the moment for not speaking her companion's name correctly. The woman had been saying it wrong the entire time!
"What?" He muttered, confused at her worried tone. He was panicked. What had he said? Had he said his real name without knowing? He swallowed his fear, a smile weakly plastered across his concerned expression. "No, no- It's fine!" He could feel the panic rising in his mind. "Lief Thous. Liefthous. It's not a huge deal, Ember. You just had a different way of speaking. That's all."
He decided to play it off, alarm twisting its way into his thoughts. What if he had said his unspoken name without knowing? How would he explain that?

Ember refused to look at him, too ashamed. It could have been passed as anger, the look on her face, but she wasn't the best at figuring things out so she wasn't aware of said detail. Often she didn't care for her difference in speech. She could understand other and those others understood her- spoken names were always an issue with her. An issue for all of her House really.
"Liefthous is not Liefthous...Thous...Liefth-...Lief.", the red-head kept correcting herself under her breath, focusing heavily on her lap. Eyebrows furrowed and a drown adorning her face. Shame and determination were battling each other out in the woman's head.

The thief chuckled lightly. "Don't worry 'bout it." He rolled his eyes with a grin. "We can.. consider it as a nickname, hm?" He poked her shoulder, laughing. "Listen- I don't care if you call me 'L.T.', for all it matters. Just.. don't worry about it too much. I've had plenty of people get my name wrong. Heck! I've been called 'Leith' a few times. Can you imagine that?" He snorted, the memories washing over him. The male leaned back with a childish grin. "It's no big deal, alright?"
He glimpsed at her, cocking a brow as he asked the previous question.

"-Leaf.", Ember finally stopped to pay attention, eyes slightly wide at the fact that he wasn't mad at her for getting it wrong this whole time. She thought about talking a few times but thought otherwise half way through each time, settling on, "Liefthous.", in a small whisper, rubbing her eyes after. A tiny headache was surfacing and her body felt warm.
"...Liefthous is nick-spoken name of Liefthous.", she crossed her arms over the table and placed her head there, tilting it to look at the man next to her with a tired ghost of a grin. "An apologies.", Ember apologized, slightly muffled by her arm.

"No need for apologies." The Hellion smiled, looking back at her. He inclined his head to the left slightly as he blinked. "Are you tired..?" He questioned. He poked out his lips, glaring at the table. "It's dirty. The counter, I mean." He inhaled, rolling his eyes with another grin. "I s'ppose you can lean on me, if you wish. I will offer you the same as you did me." He added with a small tease. "I can't imagine what has happened on this very table, let alone wonder if it's been washed."
He scrunched his nose, disgusted at the thought. Well.. thoughts. Lief didn't understand most, especially the reasoning behind getting drunk to the point where they are out of their own control.

At the man's comment on the table, Ember lifted herself off of the table, suddenly worried for the health of her skin and not really wanting to know what could have happened to said wooden furniture. The way he said it didn't help either. The red-head blocked those possibilities from her mind and considered his question and offer. She was a little tired and just to rest for a while might do her some good; drained being the most appropriate term for what the woman felt like.
Then again, she didn't want to use Liefthous for something selfish like that. There's been a fair amount of times where she had slept sitting up with nothing to put herself against. So she stayed silent, debating what was right and the offer her body was trying to convince her to take. Fingers evenly tapping on the edge of the table.

He snickered. "Pfft- Are you really that stubborn?" He tilted his head, propping his elbow on the table. "You understand it's fine, right? I honestly don't mind. And you look.." He searched for the correct term. "..exhausted." In his defense, she had helped him an awful amount, so he thought it was his turn to return the favor. He flashed a smile. "Well. My offer still stands." He shifted, leaning against the back of the seat. Though he was tired himself, he could last another few hours before he decided he would need rest.
The Hellion tilted his head back, locking eyes with the ceiling. He let his mind ponder through his thoughts, appearing to be lost in them.

Ember glanced at him as he spoke and narrowed her eyes at his stubborn comment. She was not stubborn- she refused to be stubborn. Though he had a point, that though she couldn't see herself, she felt quite tired. Once he went quite she turned away to think again. After some time she moved herself closer to Liefthous and placed her shoulder to his, timidly but without hesitance. Crossing her arms again she tilted her head down to rest it on his shoulder as well.
The red-head tried to be as soft as possible as to not disturb the man in his state of thinking once more. Ember didn't close her eyes yet, but her breathing was slowing a fair bit and the muscles began to lax as well.

Lief felt a small smile spread across his face, though his attention was brought back for only a moment. He had nearly forgotten about the stranger! Without making too much movement, Lief fully regained his focus and sent a curious look downwards from the ceiling. His brows furrowed as he blinked. The thief didn't speak, though he was wishing to ask questions, as always. He inhaled and sighed silently, gazing around the tavern. The Hellion didn't let his attention move for longer than a second, though. One question surfaced once again; was this stranger any sort of a threat?
He continued wondering, not returning to his lost-in-thought state. The male would be on edge, his ears perked and his stare inquiring.

He was silent as he watched the two of them converse, before speaking again once the both of them had quieted. "I do not mind if you call me your friend, although we have not reached that yet." He said, sighing. "So, from what you've said and what i've seen, this place is an in-between point of sorts, a nexus between many different worlds, correct?" He asked for clarification, as well as voicing his own opinion on the state of matters.
He then relaxed, having determined that neither of them would be too much of a threat, unless they were either hiding something, or if they attacked together.

The Hellion blinked. "Where.. did you hear that, Friend?" He questioned, his words slow as he spoke. "That’s a.." The thief searched for the word, his brows creasing in mild confusion and focus. "..rather peculiar assumption." He finished, flashing a smile.
"So, where’d you hear the idea? It’s quite preposterous." He chuckled. "Yet it’s amusing and.. fantasizing."
"So, where’d you hear the idea? It’s quite preposterous." He chuckled. "Yet it’s amusing and.. fantasizing."
"Simply a theory of mine. I've heard of places such as this in legend, but never truly believed it until now. After all, the both of you are rather clearly from worlds far different than my own." He said with a shrug. He then sat down, relaxing more as he sank into the seat. "Why? Have you heard similar tales where you are from?" He asked, appearing genuinely interested.
Lief drew a breath. He was debating if he should lie or speak the truth, sending a small glimpse towards Ember. "I.. have heard of such." He finally spoke. "Though, our beliefs must be different, for we believe it to be untrue despite the use of common magicks."
He was going to shrug, but he realized the woman was still leaning on his shoulder, so he tilted his head instead. "I s’ppose they are just.. tales. Though, you say this world is not like yours?"
