What if I had chosen to save character A instead of character B?
What if I had decided not to reveal the info about the project to character XYZ?
What if these variables didn't exist? What would have happened then?
What if, what if, what if...
All of us come to RP as an escape from reality. It's an immersive narrative experience. Your characters interact and connect and create beautiful stories.
Like in real life, these characters make choices. In real life sometimes we're left wondering: "What if?" Without answer.
Do we have to suffer the same for our virtual realities as well?
Have you ever replayed a scene in an RP and made different choices? If so, how did you proceed with the canon from there? Did you replay the scene ages after it was finished, to have a fresh start? Or was it right away?

I tend not to 'redo' scenes or scenarios that happen, if only because I am generally satisfied with the result the first time, even if it is negative for the character; it's still forwards, progressive development.
But if I did replay any, they'd probably be those in her backstory that hasn't been previously roleplayed out.

I don't tend to replay any of the scense my charas are in as good and bad are chara builders.
I haven't quite done this, though one of my RP partners and I did a plot arc wherein he had to create several "current time" shards of his character with these "what ifs" installed. This is to say there was a character that would be his character had X not happened, or if Y had been passed up. It was neat to see the different outcomes and how they affected his character's personality.
I know this topic is somewhat old, but my husband and I have "multi-verse" characters. They're mostly characters that we play with only each other (though, I've NPC'd a couple of them to fill in space). Their stories get played out over and over in different ways.
Logan and Brad have a child together, break up in universe A, but in universe B, Brad never meets Logan and their daughter is never born.
In universe C Isorla brings her mother Iokina back to life and lives beside her, but in universe D, Iokina never dies and raises Isorla herself.
I like tweeking. I rarely do it with anyone else, simply because very few people seem to be interested in the multi-verse gives me a chance to explore the things I couldn't before.
