Rika had made up her mind. There was only one thing she could do to bring her beloved mother back. She must journey across the earth searching for something to bring her mother back to life, no matter what dangers lied ahead."I'm not sure when I'll be back, but can you keep an eye on my house for me, ms. Kin?". The old woman looked at the young girl standing in front of her."sure, dearie. I'll watch over things here. Don't worry about me." Rika smiled at ms.kin."thank you ms. Kin! Don't worry, I'll come back! Goodbye!" The young healer ran out of the village, leaving the elderly woman behind."I wonder how long it'll take." Rika thought to herself."I guess It doesn't matter as long as I can bring mom back. She was the only family I had, after all. And she took the disease out of my body and put it in her own. Just so she could save me." She stopped running down the path away from the village and stood, continuing to think to herself."maybe I should've brought something else besides moms staff. I know some attack magic, but not a lot". Suddenly, rika sensed something or someone near her. She didn't know exactly what it was, but she felt as if it was in the surrounding trees, something human like in nature.
Megan hopped from tree to tree above Rika, careful not to make much noise. She had been following her since she got out of the village. Megan peaked through a gap in the trees and saw that Rika had stopped. "I wonder why-" she started before abruptly cutting off as she saw movement across the clearing. "Damn them bandits." she mumbled to herself. Megan hopped down from the branch overhanging the clearing and landed lightly in front of Rika. "Hey." she said simply before taking a dagger out and facing the bushes that held the intruders.
Rika jumped back when she saw the girl jump out of the tree."who is she?". The young healer wondered. But wondering was something she didn't have time for, for as soon as the girl had pulled out a dagger, a small group of thieves had circled the two, knives bared. Rika put one hand behind her back and one in front of her. When she brought the hand behind her back around to in front of her she was holding her mothers staff naoru. She held the staff forward and pointed it at one of the thieves. She concentrated as a small fireball gathered at the end of the staffs blue sapphire tip.she thrust the staff forward, sending the fireball hurdling toward the thief, hitting his shirt and lighting it on fire. The thief ran away into the woods as rika turned to see what the girl was doing.
Megan threw her knife at the second bandits head and her was thrown back into a tree. She then stood still and closed her eyes. A moment later she clapped her hands together and the ground at the last three bandits feet opened up and swallowed them. Exhausted, Megan fell to the ground. "Never.......used magic........ That powerful.......... Before." She said before losing consciousness.
"Oh no! What am I gonna do? She just passed out?! But I don't know her! It's not my problem! Is it?" Rika looked at the girl that was lying unconchence behind her."first I gotta take out these guys!". The last two bandits were closing in, and rika was running out of ideas. Until she remembered a spell her father taught her at age 7 before he died."rika". he had said."if you are ever in danger, call upon your familiar. They will help you when you need help". Rika looked at the two bandits. She only had once chance to do this."I call upon my familiar, usugiri!" A snake appeared before her. It raised its head as if it had just woken up. It looked at rika and, to her surprise, it spoke."what issss it that you wish, my masssster?" The young girl looked at the snake and pointed at the bandits "defeat them, usugiri.". The snake nodded and said "assss you wish, my masssster" the snake lunged forward and defeated both of the thieves, rendering them unconchence. The snake looked at rika once again."I shall now take my leave, my masssster". Rika nodded."see you later, usugiri". The snake disappeared in a puff of smoke and left rika alone with the girl."now" she said."time to begin getting you back to full strength again. Rika kneeled down and began healing the girl with her magic.
Megan mumbled something about fire every few minutes. Twelve minutes after Rika starting healing her, Megan woke up screaming. "FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE!!!!" she yelled patting her clothes then looking stupidly at Rika. "Uh.... Sorry?" Megan mumbled heaving herself into a sitting position.
"Careful! You're not completely healed yet!". Rika said, still tending to Megan's wounds."you fell down and got scarred up quite a bit. I'm glad I beat them in time to get to you"
Despite Rika's warnings, Megan brought herself into a standing position. She almost fell a couple times, but she managed to support herself on a tree. "So what now?" she asked.
"I don't know. I'm heading across the worlds to find something very important. What are you going to do?". Rika stood up to go help Megan.
"Great! Lets get going! Although, I don't think I ever got your name. What is it?" Rika said cheerfully
"I'm rika" she said. "So where should we go first?".
Rika laughed. "Alright, let's get going!" Rika began walking and soon turned around and looked at Megan. "Which way is that exactly? I'm sorry, I've never left my village until now.".
"I was hoping you knew." Megan laughed. "But, that's why there is magic." She added cheerily as she sat down on the grass and closed her eyes. A couple seconds passed with no result, then out of nowhere a stick appeared in Megan's hand. "There we go." she exclaimed happily as she got up and dusted her pants off. "Florida please." she said to the stick.
"Are you sure you're healed enough to walk? You look like you're having some trouble. How is that stick going to help us? " rika began firing questions off one after another. She had watched Megan summon the staff and suddenly remembered she was still holding naoru. She held it out with both hands and desummoned it. "Sorry for the rapid fire questions. It's just that I usually don't see other magic users. Usually I'm the only one in the village who can do that."
(Lol just a random twig, not a staff...)
Megan smiled. "If you never ask questions, you can never learn." she said as he held her hand out flat. The stick spun around her hand a few times then pointed north east. "That was a really easy spell, a navigation spell." she said as she headed north east.

"She's good". Rika thought. "I wonder if I'll become as good a magic user."
