Alex had just been moved to yet another different orphanideg. He walked into the place, noticing how colorless it looked. "May I help you?" One of the ladies there asked. "Yes, I was told this would be the new ophanideg I would be at until I am adpoted or turn eighteen." The lady nodded. "That is right, Alex, correct?" He nodded. She lead him to his bunk on the boys side of the room. He set his stuff down and began to unpack and put his clothes and other belongs in the trunk at the end of the bed.
Jazmine was by her favorate tree in the back of the orphange. With her sparrow by her side, she had her favorate writing book and pencil in hand. As she wrote, two other boys came up to her smirking. "Hey there little missy, what are you writing." Jazmine noticed them and looked up. "A story." She replied simpily. "Would you like to read it?" The boys snorted and grabbed it out of her hands, tearing out the pages. "Hey!" She yelled, reaching out for it. "Give it back please!" One of the boys held her back while she continued to watch her story destroyed. The sparrow beside her chirping with anger and pecking at the boys, although they didnt seem to notice.
Before Alex was finished unpacking, he heard the sparrow chripering and the sound of paper tearing. He went outside to see what was going on. "Hey!" He yelled at the two boys. It was clear that he was older than them and stronger. He took the writing book away form the other boy and kicked him down into the ground. He set the book down under the tree and then pulled the girl away form the other boy. "What is wrong with you guys? You should be a gentleman to all women." He yelled as they ran away. He picked up the torn pages, and handed them to the girl. "I don't think they are too torn apart, you might be able to rewrite it."
Jazmine looked up at him in suprise and gently took the pages from him, her fingers brushing his. "Thank you." She said in a small voice, though she looked down at the pages that were torn out in sorrow.
Alex frowned then smiled. "Don't tell anyone about what I am about to do." Because his mother was a witch, he had a few powers. He put his hands over the torn pages in her hands. Silvery white sparks floated down on the pages and they began to come together like a puzzle that was solving itself. He looked up at the girl and smiled at her.
Jazmine's face showed shock as she looked down at the once torn pages then back up at him. "H-how did you do that?" She asked in astonishment. She even lightly tugged on one of the sheets to see if it was real.
Alex grinned. "My mother was a witch so I had been give some power, but it isn't a lot."
Jazmine blinked up at him. "Amazing." She said. She had never met someone with powers before, the only people she knew of who had powers were the people in her stories who were, of course, fictional.
Alex grinned. "They aren't much though, I can only do simple things like fix torn papers and broken items." He shrugged, not really caring that he had powers. He couldn't forget how much power he had when he found the demon that killed his parents.
"Thats still..." Jazmine was planing on finishing her sentence, but something inside of her dicided against it. She drew back a breath and smiled at him. "Thank you for saving my story." By this time, the sparrow was clam and landed on Jazmine's shoulder, chirping happily.
Alex saw the little sparrow. He stretched out his hand to the girl with a charming smile. "The name's Alex, miss." He always seem to have a way of introducing himself that made people laugh, but that was because he made his voice sound like a solider or butler of some sort.
Jazmine smiled. "My names Jazmine, nice to meet you Alex." She took his hand in her own little one, shaking it.
"It is nice to meet you too, Jazzy." Alex grinned at the new nickname he gave her. "So, how is it like around here? I'm use to foster homes."
"Its... nice." Thought Jazmine's voice wavered a bit when she said the last part. 'Jazzy?' she thought to herself.
Alex frowned but just shrugged it off. "It doesn't seem so with how the boys act around here."
"They do that alot, its no big deal." She said bringing her legs up to her chest, squishing her book to her stomach in the process.
Alex sat down beside her and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "I'll make sure they don't anymore." He said with a bright smile.
Jazmine felt a small blush form on her cheeks. The sparrow, being disturbed on its pearch on Jazmine's shoulder due to the hug, felw off and was now by Jazmine's side.
Alex smiled at her, then stood up. "I think I need to go ahead and finish packing, I'll see you later, 'kay?" He began to walk back into the orphanage.
Jazmine nodded and once he was in the orphange, she sunk down a little. Right when she did, all the orphans were called in for chores. Jazmine sighed and headed inside. In the main hallway, a roster was put up every day to see who gets what chores. Jazmine found her name to see that she had gotten dish duty. That was the worst chore she could get. The other girls, since girls were the main ones that got it, spilled dirty dish water on her, claiming it was an accident. Yet they snickered and would say things like 'Its an improvement.' Jazmine always kept a calm composure when they did, however.
