Alex went over and looked to see what he chore got. "Sweeping and mopping the kitchen." He mumbled to himself and nodded. It sounded pretty easy.

When Jazmine entered the kitchen, all eyes were on her, and not in the good way. As she headed towards her station the other girls stared daggers at her. When she got to the sink, she started on a plate. One girl had a try of dish water and bumped into her, drenching her in the water. She didnt even care to make it look like an accident, yet she still snickered, "Oh, I'm sorry sweety." With a sly giin on her face. All the girls started to laughed at her. Jazmine swallowed the lump in the back of her throat and blinked away tears threatening to emerge from her eyes.

Alex had just came into the room when that happened, a bucket and mop in his hand. He couldn't believe what he just saw. "What in the world is wrong with you girls? This isn't right. She has dealt with the pain of losing her family like you all did, so why pick on her?" He was in utter shock at how mean the other orphans were to Jazzy. He thought that they would all be able to sympathize with her because they all lost their parents like everyone else in the orphanage.

Jazmine stared in shock to see Alex here. Her concentration had slipped and a tingle tear rolled down her cheek. The other girls were all in shock too, either to see someone stick up for Jazmine or that they had never seen the boy before.

Alex shook his head. "This really isn't right. I came here, expecting to find children who understood each other but all I have seen is you all picking on Jazzy for no reason. What do you have against her? Someone explain that to me."

All the girls were silent. One laughed. "'Cause shes the easiest to pick on." Then another girl spoke up. "Yeah, she never says she dosent like it. Isn't that right, Jazmine." The girl nudged Jazmine in the ribbs with her elbow, and Jazmine stared down at the floor.

Alex frowned. "And that's a reason to pick on her? Because she is quiet? You all are horrible. You don't even know her or what she might have gone through. Have you even tried to see who she really is? Maybe she is still going through the mourning process of losing her parents or them abandoning her. Did you ever think that she doesn't say anything because she believe you all hate her for no reason? Did you ever think about how she felt?" He felt like he was older than he really was. He didn't know what it felt like to be bullied because he always had a friendly personality and could get along with pretty much anyone, but he had friends that got bullied and heard what they felt about it. He was sick of how much people neglected the fact of other's feelings.

Everyone's eyes were now on the floor, while Jazmine's eyes were on Alex, and were now briming with tears.

Alex sighed and went over to Jazzy. "You alright?" He asked, gently wiping away her tears. He knew he had left his impression on the people here. He got all the girl in this room that bullied Jazzy to rethink about all this.

Jazmine nodded her head, her gaze now shifted to the floor.

Alex looked across the room at the other girls. "I'll be back later, I have to mop and sweep in here. Can you come get me when the dishes are done?" He asked her.

Jazmine nodded, we damp and stringy hair falling over her eyes in the process. After a half an hour, all the dishes had been done. Not one person dared to say a word while they were working. One she had finished, Jazmine headed out to look for Alex, her hair and clothes still half damp.

Alex was laying on his bed reading a book. It was a poetry book and he was softly singing the poems, not noticing anyone else around. He loved to sing, with or without people around. The mop and bucket was on the floor next to his bed.

It took a few minutes to figure out where he was, but when she heard a couple of boys talk about how the new guy had headed up to his room, Jazmine went to look. When she located his door, she gently knocked.

Alex jumped slightly when he heard a knock at the door. He accidently hit his against the wall. "Ack!" He yelped, holding the back of his head. "Who is it?" he asked, his voice was calm but had the pain in it.

"It's me." Jazmine said in a gental voice. "Are you alright? You sound hurt!" she said in a more panicked voice.

Alex stood up and opened the door, one hand other where he hit his head. "Yeah, I'm fine. You just startled me and I hit my head on the wall." He gave her a reassuring smile.

Jazmine let out a small gasp. "I'm so sorry! Where dose it hurt? Here?" she asked touching the spot. "Are you sure your okay?"

Alex flinched when she touched where he hit his head. "I'm fine, don't worry. It is just a bump, it will heal. You don't need to worry about it."

Jazmine took her hand away from it. "If you say so."
