Alex looked at Jazzy and saw the tears in her eyes. He gently wiped them away, trying to smile through the painful memories. "Come on, you don't need to cry." He spoke gently, even though his voice cracked.

She shook her head, pressing one of her palms of her right eye as she tried to wipe away the tears. She wanted to break down, but she tried to stay strong.

Alex hugged her again, sensing the pain that was in her heart. "It is fine, you don't need to hide what you feel." He spoke softly in her ear. He knew the pain of losing your family, he didn't have any brothers or sisters, and neither did his parents, all the people they had choose to place him in custody if they died was dead so he was left with no one. He knew the pain of being lonely.

Jazmines legs felt weak. She would have colasped of the floor in a fit of tears if it had not been for Alex's hug.

Alex let her cry out, let her release her pain. He gently stroke her hair, speaking soothing words in her ear, trying to help her in the only way he knew how.

Suddenly, a bell chimed over head, and Jazmine stiffned. "Dinner." She mummbled, knowing the bell all too well.

Alex slowly let her go. "We should probably go. Do they separate the boys and girls?"

Jazmine nodded. "There are two dining halls. Boys go to the west wing, and girls go to the east." She attemped to rub her eyes free of tears

Alex gently wiped away the last of the tears. "Then I'll see you after dinner, okay?" He smiled at her, hoping that what happened earlier today with the other girls will be the best for her.

Jazmine nodded, heading towards the door. She stopped at the frame before stopping and looking over her shoulder. "Thank you." She said in a small voice before headding east.

Alex smiled. "It was my pleasure, Jazzy." He walked out of the kitchen and headed for the east wing.

Dinner in the girls wing was unusualy quiet, due to the inicedent in the kitchen. Jazmine kept her eyes on her food, eating daintly. After she was finished, she headed outside where she met her sparrow friend again. She didnt have her writing book with her, so she started to sing a random song, hoping that a good one would come to her.

Alex went into the east wing, which was filled with chatter and laughter, that wasn't a surprise to him. He got his lunch, ate, then left to his room. He still had to write a letter to his friend back where he lived first, his home town. He hadn't been able to write her a letter in awhile, and he still had the letters form her. Some of his other friends use to tease him about keeping in contact with her, but he only saw her as a friend.

Jazmine slumped against the tree. She gave up trying to write a song, so she dicided to sing a song she already knew. She always favored the movie 'Anastasia', so she dicided to sing one of the songs from the movie, 'Once upon a December.' Her voice was soft and sweet as she sang the first verse.

Alex grabbed a pen and paper and thought it was a good idea to go outside and write. When he saw Jazzy sitting at the trunk of the old oak tree he went up to her but stopped when he heard her singing. He grinned at an idea, and began to sing with her, his voice was sooth and gentle, even for a boy his age.

Jazmine paused when she heard singing over her own, and glanced over to see Alex. Hear his voice, she smiled and continued to sing with him.

Aled smiled at Jazzy when she saw him and continued to sing with her, sitting down next to her.

After the song was over, Jazmine smiled at Alex. "You have an amazing voice."

"Your's is better than mine is." He smiled at her.

She shook her head. "Its not all that good."
