Alex had moved to a new foster family, yet again. This time, he just wanted to be alone. He doesn't know why, but he has been feeling off lately. He found a hill that had no one else there. He sat down on the grass and looked up at the sky, thinking. He felt power flowing through his veins like fire. He didn't understand, he had just turned 16 yesterday and now he felt more powerful, but that made he want to use his powers even less. He was in a really confused state because he didn't have his mother who knew pretty much everything about witches and their spawn they have with humans, and the Witch Clan cast him off as a human being. This was a very confusing time for him.

Rae stood at her parents house, her long strawberry blonde braided with flowers. She was in the backyard picking the flowers. Her emerald eyes caught the smell of a different thing. She stood up, dusting the dirt from her white dress. Her eyes traveled to the guy who was sitting all alone. Should I go over to him? Um... Well I was once like him. She walked towards the fence and jumped over it, walking along the brushes that separated the hill from her house. Rae stopped, turning around, and bending over. Maybe I shouldn't be here.. Maybe I shouldn't be doing this.
Rae's soft hands dug another the dirt behind the bushes. She didn't want to startle him.. If he really wanted to talk to her, then he would try to start a conversation. Her emerald eyes then looked at a tree. She cleared her throat, softly. She began to sing, " Are you, are you coming to the tree. Where they hung up a man who they said murdered three. Strange things did happen here, no stranger would t seem, if we meet up at midnight at the Hanging Tree. "

Alex had been in such deep thought that hearing such an old song made him jump. "Are you, are you
coming to the tree. Where the dead man called out for his love to flee? Strange things did happen here
. No stranger would it seem.
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree." He sang back, continuing the song that he thought he had forgotten. His voice was gentle and sweet, even for a boy his age, his singing wasn't deep or rough. He remembered his mother would sing this song to him when he was young, saying it reminded her of the day when she met his father.
Rae, herself was startled by the voice. It was soft, gentle, and actually somewhat soothing. Her natural instincts kept on going. She was taught to sing as a little girl, before her father killed her mother. She continued to sing, her voice soft and elegant. " Are you, are you coming to the tree. Where I told you to run so we'd both be free? Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be, if we meet up in midnight in the hanging tree." Rae then stood up, putting one of her bangs behind her ears. She looked at him, slightly smiling.
Alex smiled when he saw who was singing with him now. "Are you, are you
coming to the tree?
Wear a necklace of rope, side by side with me... Strange things did happen here
. No stranger would it seem.
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree." He finished then stood up. He walked over to her and held his hand out to her. "Hello, I'm Alex." He said with a bright smile.

Rae saw him walk over, at first she just stared. She held her hand close to her side, but finally gave in. She reached her hand towards his, firmly grasping his. " My names Rae. I just noticed you were alone, on that hill. I can relate to you.. When I first joined this 'normal' neighborhood nobody wanted to be near me. Now you can call me a popular creature. " She said, winking.
Alex smiled at her. "It's not that, I had just moved here with my foster parents, I just wanted to be alone to think is all." He explained. Because his friendly personality, it wasn't hard for him to make new friends, or talk to people, but when he wanted to be alone, he always knew where to hide form the world.
Rae nodded her head, sighing softly. " I wish I had foster parents. My dad killed my mother last year. He had been seeing another girl and a week after she died, they got married. Love is pathetic. " She said, spitting on the turf. She placed her hand on a bush. " Sometimes being lonely kills us more then being happy. " Only Rae would really know what this truly meant.
Alex nodded. "Love works in different ways. My parents were together to the very end. They burned alive in their sleep. I really don't know much of the feelings they shared for each other, but it was enough to make my mother want to be free." He shrugged. He knew how it felt to be lonely, that was something he couldn't get use too.
Rae softly put her hand on his shoulder, looking into his eyes. " I'm sorry.. " She closed her emerald eyes, breathing softly. She stepped back, " Your aurora is different. My real mother could sense peoples aurora. " She said, now opening her eyes. " There's something about you that's..... Special."
Alex shrugged. "My mother was a witch and my father was a demon hunter, a rare couple to find these days since some witches are classified as demons depending on what they do with their powers." He held out his hand with his palm up. A green light began to form above his hand then a rose was created. He handed it to Rae with a bright smile. "I can't do very much."
Rae looked at the rose, her finger tips moving along the roses surface. She brought up to her nose, smelling it. " Did your mother classify a werewolf as a demon? " She said, closing her eyes. She opened her eyes and smiled. " It's an amazing gift, the smallest things can be the best. " She put it behind her ear, moving her strawberry blonde hair over it again. " The biggest things aren't created, it comes from here. " She softly touched his chest with her hand.
(It is his father who is the demon hunter. Simple mistake.)
Alex shook his head to her question. "No, my father didn't classify werewolves as demons unless they killed humans without reason." He smiled to see that she liked the rose. "Simple things do make the best gifts, but sometimes little power can't protect what people love the most. Only one time has my magic been strong, and that was when I found the demon that burnt my home and family."

[ Ops! My bad >.< ]
Rae removed her hand from his chest, returning it to her side. Her emerald eyes looked at his. " You don't know what you can do Alex.. " She said softly. Her voice danced through the soft breeze. " Take me for example.. " She then stopped. " Wait.. Your dad classified werewolves that killed humans without a reason.... Demons. " She stepped back, fear in her emerald eyes. Rae laughed nervously, " I... Um... Need to do something real quick... Someone's calling me.. " She said, there was no sound.

Alex was confused by this, then he realized it. "No, no. That was how my father and hunter society saw it. I don't view any creature as evil unless they do something to me to first. You don't need to be afraid. I promise, I won't do anything to you." He thought of putting his hand on her shoulder to try to stop her form running away and also trying to calm her but he thought is better judgment not to. "I promise, I won't hurt you."
Rae stepped back, not wanting to get to close. " Are you sure about that? I've been tricked by people like you before. I tell them what is to become and they turn on me. " Her emerald eyes now burning with hatred. She did not look at him, her eyes looking at the rose in her hair, which she took out.
"I promise. I would never hurt another person unless they hurt me first." Alex knew how it felt to betrayed and hurt by those you thought you could trust. He wanted to somehow to show her that he was serious, but then he got an idea. "I can slit my palm, if you want." For him, that was a very strong vow. In his family, there was a tradition they had where, if you are serious, you would slit your palm open and let the blood flow into the Earth while you swore what you needed to swear.
Rae looked at him everyone once in a while. Her emerald eyes saw him, she looked at his palm when he spoke. " Your mother, she must have loved the earth. " Rae's emerald eyes said staring at the ground. She took a knife out of her bra, holding it in her hand. " I always keep a knife handy. "
Alex nodded. He took the knife carefully, trying not to spook her. He opened his left palm wide and quickly slashed his palm open. He gripped it into a fist, trying to block out the pain. He was able to squeeze a few blood drops out of his hand before it healed. "I swear that as long as you don't cause harm to me, I will not cause harm to you." The blood landed on the ground after he finished and quickly they soaked into the ground. The wind lightly blew after that. "Do you believe me now?"
